The man's disposition is like water—fluid. No matter the time or circumstance, Rosalind's face always reflects a jaded calm betwixt with an amused smile. Rarely, if ever for that matter, would one see him angered and, considering the surly attitude of some of his students, it is an impressive feat in and among itself. He tends to take things in stride and never raises a fuss, but at the same time, it is also rare for him to take even concerning matters seriously. When push comes to shove, Rosalind is notable for his inaction—he places responsibility in the hands of others. His attitude seems to run by the belief that everything will be all right in the end and, if it is isn't, it isn't the end. Disregarding his detachment from matters and situations that don't concern him, the man does have a heart. He regards others with an air of tranquility and openness. Many might comment he is someone that may not judge and, in truth, they are right. Be you a beggar or a thief, as long as you've no personal afflictions with him (heck, even if you do, as long as they don't run deep), Rosalind will open up his home to you for a chat if you so need it.
However, Rosalind is a mystery wrapped in an enigma. You may be allowed beyond the limits of his home, but it would take an arduous effort to pierce the iron armor clad about his mind and heart. He does not like to share intricate details about himself and values his secrecy greatly. While Rosalind does not grow hostile with anyone who wishes to know about him, he does grow flagrant, and drops pretty obvious hints that he is uncomfortable that if a subject shouldn't be broached, it shouldn't. Just like his secrets are seldom shared, so are the secrets of others. Rosalind has an impressive forbearance and will never reveal the secret of another no matter the threat held against him. He knows there is information about others that could be detrimental to their lives, so if they are not to be spoken, he won't break his promise. Loose lips sink ships, as they say, and he is not going to drown an armada.
When it comes to structured rules and sanctions, Rosalind's rigidity is known to blossom forth here. To him, any structure without a good foundation built on practices will not hold. Thus, he can be incredibly faithful to rules and regulations to the point swaying from them can incite his need to discipline. Like his rigidity, sometimes he needs to take a step back and inspect the moment and his possible options before acting, but that is easier said than done. This is a common practice when in the company of his daughter, Ellie, because, even though she's mature for her age, she still needs guidance in the form of a father figure. Instead of letting her make her own mistakes to learn from, offering guidance along the way, Rosalind is quick to let her know the lesson instead. While beneficial in its own right, regarding Ellie, the message may fall under the radar. This doesn't happen all of the time, though; since she is slightly intimidated by Rosalind, she is quick to rectify any transgressions made against him, so cases of acting out have gradually become less and less over time.

Osmond grew up as an only child in one of the lower income neighborhoods of New Jersey to Jacob and Zoya Rosalind. For the most part, his living conditions were emotionally stable, and he found himself closer to his father than his mother as a boy. He went to Montclair State University via a scholarship and graduated with a BA in Education.
After college, Osmond married his girlfriend, Mei Ling Gao, after she professed to being pregnant with their child. Their wedding was a quick one and it raised controversy from Mei's side of the family—especially her father. However, after the birth of their first child, such thoughts were pushed to the wayside. With his family, Osmond moved from New Jersey to North Carolina after purchasing a house in a decent neighborhood.
Unfortunately, domestic bliss did not last long in the Rosalind household; with lofty thoughts of his daughter's future, Osmond began to spend more time and concentration on work rather than his family. The cute teacher in the classroom across from his didn't help either. Mei, stressed with the care of their daughter and the pileup of chores she was always at odds with, eventually walked out on her husband with Ellie in tow.
What followed was a bitter divorce that ended with Ellie in the custody of Mei. While their daughter was allowed to see her father on weekends and several weeks during the summer, Mei refused to see her husband, and this put a deeper strain on an already tense parting. Osmond wanted to, at least, keep up a equitable form of communication with her for Ellie's sake, but Mei wasn't having any of it.
Eventually, a dilemma began to rear its ugly head when Mei expressed a desire to move states away with Ellie. Though Osmond was informed of this from his daughter, at the same time, Demeter contacted him as a chosen and he was whisked away to live at the Prytaneum a week later. Now, with very little contact from his daughter and his ex-wife and his added responsibilities as a chosen, Osmond is unsure of how to juggle this sudden change in his life.

Osmond has been blessed by Demeter; his great love of his students (which he is not beyond referring to as his kids) and his daughter has grounded the man as a father to all. He is patient enough with anyone younger than him as he too understands the troubles and dilemmas an individual may encounter and isn't beyond being a guiding light in a dim world. His affinity with gardening has shown him to have a green thumb; selling his produce at the local farmer's market when it's open.
(Also, he makes really lame dad jokes. +++A material.)
