The collars are bright, colorful, and stand out. They are made so they are hard to hide. Break one and take it off you say? That's really not a good idea. the collars insure are rigged to explode if removed without a proper key. But that could be a vicious rumorcreated by the staff... maybe.
It is thought that they work much like the mutant control collars. That they are electrical or possible biochemical. One student wrote a paper about the collars having a magical property. What ever happened to him?
How do they work? It's very simple. They force a subject into a humanoid state so they can participate in all activities on campus. This also stops those with wings from flying away. After all, we can't have our dear precious students running off and warring people. Plus not every student is fully aware of all the things out there. So why are they here? Beats me.
A collar will force the wearer down to 1/2 strength. This is to make it easier for the teachers and staff to keep control at all times. After all, the safety of everyone at Dark Stone Academy is very important.
And if you think only sturdiest get collars then you're wrong. Any teacher caught abusing their powers will also receive a collar as well. And it's a very special collar for them. And bad things tend to happen to the teachers with them.
If the collar is ever successfully removed, the individual will return to their original power level and form.
