Addy pulled her leg up behind her back and stretched it out while her other hand rifled through her Pandora stations. She needed something...pumpy. Fitness tests were coming up for ROTC and she would be expected to run her portion within a certain time frame to pass. She didn't just want to pass, though. She wanted to excel. A C wasn't good enough for the advanced degree and it was her main goal. Work hard now, play later. That was what her dad always said.
She settled for some Rob Zombie. Dragula's opening rift started pounding in her ears and she strapped her phone to her arm before she was off with a grin. The teen had been training for weeks and she was going to destroy this fitness test.
She was moving at a quick pace, breathing was strong, heart rate was normal, and she began to pick up speed. Just as she was rounding a corner, Addy saw a boy in front of her. Oh. My. God.
Soooo sloooooow she complained internally, huffing a little harder than usual on her exhale. Thankfully, the track was wide enough for her to pass. He was so slow he probably wouldn't even notice he was being passed until she was halfway around the track.
Her feet pounded the ground faster as she edged closer to him before calling out "On your left!" and passing him completely. She couldn't help but smirk in his direction as she went. He was going average speed for the rest of the ROTC class. She had this in the bag.
