In Four Fronds, Chittentown, NHC and Civisect, sleek and modern public facilities sit sparkling in the center of their busy downtowns. Boasting gyms, pools, classes on various subjects and more, their doors are open to every troll, no matter their blood hue. Each is large enough to house a veritable army of trolls, and sports a brigtly lit neon sign over their doors.
YTMA

The Young Troll's Mirthful Association is a combined creation between the Alternian military and the Cult of the Messiahs. Not quite a military training school, not quite a mission, the services inside are aimed at young teen and adult trolls who are seeking to better themselves. The courses offered are all military approved, and taught with the blessing of the cult.

Location How-To

What is the YTMA?
The Young Troll's Mirthful Association is where your trolls can practice at becoming not only skilled, but officially skilled in various subjects. Once your troll has completed the required training for each level, they can collect the appropriate military pin and display it not only on their journal, but on their clothing to, if they want to show it off to the world.

Training in various fields will allow trolls to get small to medium sized perks in meta events that can assist them, their allies, and even their entire teams. These perks will show up in all non-combat activities (everything outside of battles, mini-boss battles, and boss battles).

In addition, trolls who complete the various levels of training should be considered well versed in these areas, depending on their training level. They can reflect this in their roleplay and bring/use the skills they've learned, or the bragging rights attached, into regular rp.

What are the training subjects?
Trolls can train to become proficient in physical, mental, or social categories.
For physical, there is weight, agility, and endurance training.
For mental, there is academics, tactics, and discipline training.
For social, there is leadership, covert ops, and troll relations (TR) training.

Each of these sub-categories can be trained from unskilled (not trained) to novice, to journeytroll, to master and finally to grandmaster. These increase the potency of perks gained from this skill, along with the likelihood of your character being recognized for their talents in that field.

How do trolls train?
Each level of each course contains two lessons, one is solo-optional and one must be done in a group. These lessons should be done in the order they appear in the post, from top to bottom. Trolls may not begin the second lesson until they have finished the first.

For the first, solo-optional lesson, trolls can work by themselves, or in a group of 2 or more. The trolls must all be training the same level of the same skill. Solo trolls post all their training in this thread, and groups should use their own separate rp threads. Training in a group for solo-optional lessons can both include pre/post lesson rp and count as rp for growth if the standard word requirements are met, (500 words per troll) while solos cannot.

The second lesson must always be completed in a group of 2 or more. These must always be done in a separate rp thread - however this does not mean they qualify for growth points. For these, trolls can rope in friends who are untrained, or ones who are on a higher level of training. If a troll who is untrained later takes this course, they must re-take this lesson and cannot count any times they participated previously. These parts will explicitly specify if they can be counted for growth rp/batt points - if they don't state it outright, they cannot.

To see what you must do to advance to the next level, simply find the subject you want to train, the level you are advancing to, and open the spoiler below. There you will have instructions on what must be done to advance to the next level. Once you have completed the objectives for an individual lesson, use the form at the bottom of this post either in your private rp thread or in the loc thread. Once the mule quotes your form below as approved, you may move on to the next lesson or level, and claim any badge appropriate.

If a min wordcount is listed, it must be met in each post before a lesson is considered complete.

How often can I train?
There are cooldowns set in place for how often trolls can train their skills. In character this can be attributed to fatigue, the facilities being overbooked, or anything else desired. Each time a troll advances from one level to another, they must wait 30 irl days before they can begin to attempt any other training, of any other skill. This is per-character not per-user. Failing skill advancement may also activate individual timers for that specific skill, which will be noted in the instructions.

Trolls who are still children are not allowed to train/take courses at the YTMA, although they are given public access to the gyms and pools. ORP is allowed in this thread, and people are also allowed to set private rps in this building at any age. However, to take any class below and fully utilize this location, your troll must be a teen or older.

Remember that the YTMA has branches in each city, please pick which city's branch you are in and note it in all posts in this thread, so trolls in different cities do not end up warping to the same YTMA.

Physical Classes

Strength
Novice
Solo Class: Weight Training
Your weight training instructor gestures to a progress board in the center of the main room. Fortunately these early physical tests are easily quantifiable, with the first test being a bench press test. In order to pass the novice level weight training, you must be able to bench press your own weight!

Mechanics
Trolls must be able to bench press weight equal to their body weight. Roll 10d10 with the goal of reaching 100 in one roll. During each attempt you must sum the total of your 10D10s plus 10 for each attempt you have made. First attempt = 10D10 + 10, Second attempt: 10D10 + 20, etc.

Min 50 words per post.

Group Class: Grappling
The room is filled with burly looking trolls today, sizing each other up and dusting their hands with chalk. On a mat in the center of the room, a troll the size of a beanpole slams their much larger opponent to the ground and receives grunts of approval. The instructor turns from the scene and looks at you meaningfully, then nods towards the mat. If you want to pass the class, you have to go hand-to-hand in the ring.

Mechanics
Trolls must find a partner and engage them in a battle roleplay in order to pass this examination. This is a normal battle with the following rules: No weapons, powers, or items can be used. Once the trolls have finished their battle they may complete this course.

This can be used once per troll as a regular battle rp for growth. It has the same standard rp-each-post requirement.

Once you have completed Weight Training and Grappling, you may put a novice strength pin in your journal! Congratulations!

Agility
Novice
Solo Class: Sprint Test
The agility instructor has all of the participants line up at one side of YTMA’s gymnasium, and presses the play button on his portable jam blaster. The voice filtering through the loudspeakers explains that this test is a “beep test”, in which trolls must sprint to the opposite end of the gymnasium before an alarm sounds, and after every 10 beeps the pace will increase. The agility instructor pauses the tape to let you know that passing all 100 stages will mean a “pass” for the first class.

Mechanics
Roll 10D10. If a 1 is rolled, the sprint test is failed and you must re-roll. If no 1’s are rolled, your troll is considered to have passed all 10 rounds (100 lengths total) of the test and completes the exam.

Min 50 words per post.

Group Class: Relay Race
In a large, enclosed track the agility instructor passes out a relay baton to each group participating in the race. The rules are simple – one troll at a time will complete a stretch of the course and pass the baton until the last member of your team passes the finish line.

Mechanics
Find partners and create a group of 2+ trolls to complete this relay race! Pick your running order first to decide who will be running and who will be standing by. When you are ready to begin, the first running troll will roll 1D10 until they reach a cumulative sum of 30. Each time they roll 1D10 their teammates can cheer them on by rolling 1D4, which adds the sum of that roll to their running comrade’s posts. Once the first troll hits 30, the next troll in line becomes the runner and the previously running troll stands by – and so on. The cheering bonus does not carry over to new running trolls once the previous troll has reached 30. Once the final troll has passed 30 the race is considered to be won and the class is passed.

Min 50 words per post.

Once you have completed Sprint Test and the Relay Race, you may put a novice agility pin in your journal! Congratulations!

Endurance
Novice
Solo Class: Running Endurance
Beyond the training courses and exercises at the YTMA, there is a great need for off-site examinations. This month, novice endurance training is focused on running increasingly long distances – first around Four Fronds’ Small Frog Pond, then around the Waterski Resortopolis Perimeter, and finally a daunting Hunting Grounds “backwoods” Trail. You are instructed to complete all three courses.

Mechanics
Write a min-1000 words solo (or rp if in a group, wordcount total rather than per-user), in which your troll(s) complete the above mentioned circuits in order to complete their examination.

Group Class: Busthind Hike
Tonight, groups of trolls are led to a hiking spot at the base of Busthind Mountain. A more intensive novice exam is lead by the hardened endurance instructor, who instructs you to hike a trail on one of Busthind’s many peaks and return to this spot within 5 nights – or, alternatively, meet 3 daunting waypoints to pass the class. You are given supplies for the daytime, but are expected to use your stamina wisely throughout the night. Good luck!
Mechanics
A group of trolls must survive in the cold of Busthind. They start out with 15 stamina and must last on their mountain hike for 5 nights or meet 3 waypoints. Each night they must choose to A) Forge Ahead or B) Make Camp, and after choosing they must roll 2D4.

If the number is even and the group chose to forge ahead, they meet a waypoint. If the number is even and the group chose to camp, the group loses 3 stamina. If the number is odd and the group chose to forge ahead, the group loses 6 stamina. If the number is odd and the group chose to camp, the group loses 3 stamina.

If you succeed at either objective (lasting 5 nights or meeting 3 waypoints), you have completed this task. Only one group member needs to make the nightly decision, but all trolls must post an individual response. If your group fails, you must re-take the exam.

Min 50 words per post.

Once you have completed Running Endurance and the Busthind Hike, you may put a novice endurance pin in your journal! Congratulations!

Mental Classes

Academics
Novice

Solo Class: Memory Training
An instructor troll is walking around, passing out decks of flash cards to the students in this class. To get your brain muscles working, you must memorize facts from these cards, as they're shown quickly. Then you must be able to recite the same memorized facts in the correct order that they were shown. Find a partner or a group, or wait for the teacher to play with you, then get memorizing!

Mechanics
The teacher (or other student) will quickly show your troll three flash cards. If you are soloing this, roll 3d4 for the teacher, if not, have one of the other trolls you are rping with do it. These represent three types of cards shown, from the table below. The card type is simply for rp purpose, and for you to imagine what might be on the card. Your troll has to 'memorize' a fact from each card and recite them out in the same order that the cards were shown - by rolling 3d4 yourself. If the three numbers match perfectly (first roll 3,3,4 second roll 3,3,4) then your troll spouts off the lines with no problem and has completed this class! If your troll manages to get three out of four right (first roll 3,3,4 second roll 3,3,2 or 2,3,4) a minimum of two separate times, then they have passed the grading curve and have completed the class.

Troll FlashFactz (for flavor and rp purposes only!)
1) celebrity troll flashcard
2) lusus species flashcard
3) gerbfactz flash card - how'd it get mixed up in here?
4) fun military facts flashcard

Min 50 words per post.

Group Class: History/Culture Group Paper
You watch as the teacher chalks furiously on the board at the front of the room. It seems that, according to what's being written up, you need to find a partner, crack open some books, or perhaps your own memeory, and start writing an essay. You might have been hoping for something a little more exciting, but welcome to the world of academia.

Mechanics
Users in groups of 2+ must pick a subject from the following topics.
Any past meta or mini-meta.
Any canon holiday or festival.

They must then write a 2000 word essay on the subject, from whatever angle they want, relying only on ic knowledge. Trolls (users) are required to do an equal share of the work and at the bottom of the essay there should be a 'who did what' to ensure that the writing was done fairly. If the essay is accurate, with no spelling or grammatical errors, then your trolls will receive a pass.

Once you have completed Memory Training and the Group Paper, you may put a novice academics pin in your journal! Congratulations!

Tactics
Novice

Solo Class: Military History Basics
This class is filled with trolls pouring over transcripts that would be dusty with age, if they weren't being printed out from a large central intelligence grub-bank on one side of the room. Records of past battles, from various points in troll history, in various formats, litter the tables in this room, marred with underlines and highlights and circles. Along with the transcripts, mapping tools are provided, from gridded paper to various measuring devices, to the almighty pen. It seems that your job is to interpret the old records and draw out how the conflicts went!

Mechanics
Trolls must choose a campaign (with description, from list) and draw a minimum of three maps (per troll, if done in a group), based on the writing to show the terrain and troop movements at various parts of the battle(s). Each map must be posted separately, with the rp of them creating the map accompanying it. Maps are judged based on accuracy to the writing rather than artistic merit. Mspaint, photos of hand-drawn maps, etc, are perfectly fine.

If you would like to add your own battle to the list, feel free to pm it to the mule! Make sure it's in a format that works with this class, see the battles below for examples.

Battles:

The Ballad of Asteroid 36007 Chase
Prosper long our noble queen,
Our lives and safeties all!
A woeful hunting once there did
In Asteroid 36007 Chase befall.

To drive the Terrifying Space Leaping Dappled Prance-Beast with lusus and horn
Eeaurl Percey took his way;
The grub may rue that is unhatched
The hunting of that day!

The stout Eeaurl of Four Fronds
A vow to himself did make,
His pleasure in the vast reaches of space
Three star-dates nights to take.

The chiefest space-beasts in Asteroid 36007 Chase
To kill and bear away.
These tidings to Yearle Dougas came,
In Military Space Port 3B.7 where he lay:

Who sent Eeaurl Percey present word
He would prevent his sport.
The blueblood Eaurl, not fearing that,
Did to the asteroid resort,

With fifteen hundred guntrolls bold,
All chosen trolls of might,
Who knew full well in time of need
To aim their plasma barrels aright.

The gallant spaceships swiftly flew
To chase the fallow space-beasts:
On Monday they began to hunt
Ere space-sunlight did appear;

And long before high noon they had
An hundred fat space-beasts slain:
Then having dined, the drivers went
To rouse the space-beasts again.

Eeaurl Perce to the galley went
To view the slaughter'd space-beasts;
Quoth he, Yearle Dougas promised
This day to meet me here;

But if I thought he would not come
No longer would I stay
With that a brave young gentletroll
Thus to the Eeaurl did say:

Lo, yonder doth Yearle Dougas come
His ships in anti-weapon laser barriers bright -
Full twenty hundred Seadweller ships
All flying in our sight.

Show me, said he, whose men you be
That hunt so boldly here
That, without my consent do chase
And kill my fallow space-beasts?

The first troll that did answer make
Was noble Perce, he
Who said, We list not to declare
Nor show whose trolls we be.

Yet we will spend our dearest blood
Thy chiefest space-beasts to slay.
Then Dougas swore a solemn oath
And thus in rage did say:

Ere thus I will out-braved be
One of us two shall die!
I know thee well, A highblood thou art
Eeaurl Perce! so am I.

Our Alternian guntrolls activated their port-side laser cannons,
Their hearts were good and true;
At the first flight of armor piercing plasma sent
Full fourscore ships they damaged.

At last these two stout highbloods did meet
Like captains of great might;
Like mained purry roar-beasts wud they laid on load
And made a cruel fight.

They fought, until they both did sweat,
With ships of tempered space-adamantium,
Until the blood, like drops of rain,
They trickling down did feel.

O yield thee, Perce! Dougas said,
In faith, I will thee bring
Where thou shalt high advanced be
By Her Majesty our True Overlord And Empress May She Live Forever;

Thy ransom I will freely give,
And this report of thee,
Thou art the most courageous knight
That ever I did see.

No, Dougas; quoth Eeaurl Perce then,
Thy proffer I do scorn;
I will not yield to any other captain
That ever yet was born!

With that there came an energy blast keen
Out of a malfunctioning spaceship,
Which struck Yearle Dougas's ship to the core energy reactors,
A deep and deadly blow;

Who never spake more words than these
Fight on, my merry trolls all!
For why? my life is at an end,
Eeaurl Perce sees my fall.

Then realizing he killed a seadweller, Eeaurl Perce took
The dead troll by the hand (metaphorically);
And said, Yearle Dougas! For thy life
Would I had lost my land!

O Messiahs! my very heart doth bleed
With sorrow for thy sake;
For sure a more redoubted seadweller
Mischance could never take.

A knight among the seadwellers there was
Who saw Yearle Dougas die;
Who straight in wrath did vow revenge
Upon the Eeaurl Perce:

Sirhug Montgo was he called,
Who, with a laser cannon full bright,
Well mounted on his turret perch,
Flew his ship fiercely through the fight;

And past the blueblood's ships all,
Without all dread or fear,
And through Eeaurl Perce's ship then
He thrust his rightful blast of space-plasma.

This fight did last from break of space-day
Till setting of the space-sun;
For when they rung the evening bell
The battle scarce was done.

And the Lourde Maxwel in like case
Did with Yearle Dougas die;
Of twenty hundred seadweller ship lasers
Scarce fifty-five did fly;

Of fifteen hundred blueblooded alternian battleships
Went home but fifty-three;
The rest were slain in Asteroid 36007 Chase
Under the greenwood planet.

Next day did many widows come
Their matesprits and kismeses to bewail;
They washed their wounds in brinish tears,
But all would not prevail.

Their bodies vaporized or lost in space
They bore their memories with them away;
They kissed their dead (metaphorically) a thousand times
When they were marked as deceased in official military files.

Messiahs save our Empress and bless this land
With plenty, joy and victory,
And grant henceforth that foule debate
'Twixt all highbloods may cease!

The Great Massacre of GALACTAR 17
Hour 1: Battlefleet A enters the ring-belt of Ultronimox from the south east, moving into a c-flank position to sweep north along the ring belt.
Hour 1: Battlefleet B moves down the ring belt from the north-west, skirting Ultronimox and forming a v-point spear attack to pierce in a south-eastern direction and flank A from behind.

Hour 2: The Great Space Worm drifts in from the north-east, and enters the ring belt of Ultronimox, where it settles down on top of an asteroid, midway between the two fleets.
Hour 2: Battlefleet C moves in from behind the Space Worm and takes up a v-point spear facing south-west towards the worm, in anticipation.

Hour 3: Battlefleet A moves north, Battlefleet B moves south-east, Battlefleet C advances south-west, all towards the Space Worm.
Hour 3: Space worm does a dimensional shift, leaving this plane of reality.

Hour 4: Fleets A, B, and C converge at the middle-eastern part of the map and destroy each other - due to tragic mind-altering toxins left behind by the dimensional shift that caused all the other ships to appear as giant worms.

Graowl Tyiger's Last Stand
Graowl Tyiger was a Bravo troll, who lived upon a space-barge;
In fact he was the roughest troll that ever roamed at large.
From Chittentown up to Busthind he pursued his evil aims,
Rejoicing in his title of, 'The Terror of the Mountain Range.'

His manners and appearance did not calculate to please;
His coat was torn and seedy, he was baggy at the knees;
One horn was somewhat missing, no need to tell you why,
And he scowled upon a hostile world from one forbidding eye.

The cottagers of Four Fronds knew something of his fame,
At Hemisect Civisect and New Hemisect people shuddered at his name.
They would fortify the grain consuming cluckclaws-house, lock up the silly honking water-caboose,
When the rumour ran along the shore: GRAOWL TYIGER'S ON THE LOOSE!

Woe to the weak fluting peckbeast, that fluttered from its cage;
Woe to the pampered long-haired yipmonger, that faced Graowl Tyiger's rage.
Woe to the bristly long-nosed bouncing squeekbeast, that lurks on foreign ships,
And woe to any troll with whom Graowl Tyiger came to grips!

But most to trolls of different blood hue his hatred had been vowed;
To trolls of different pupating location and blood hue no quarter was allowed.
The redbloods and the greenbloods regarded him with fear--
Because it was a greenblood had damaged his missing horn.

Now on a peaceful early fifth-perigee night, all nature seemed at play,
The tender moon was shining bright, the barge at Military Dock 436, south entrance, lay.
All in the balmy moonlight it lay rocking on the space-tide--
And Graowl Tyiger was disposed to show his sentimental side.

His bucko mate, Grumeb Uskine, long since had disappeared,
For to the Alcohol Consumption Station at Four Fronds he had gone to wet his beard;
And his bosun, Tumble Brutus, he too had stol'n away-
In the yard behind the local YTMA he was prowling for his prey.

In the forepeak of the vessel Graowl Tyiger sate alone,
Concentrating his attention on the Lady Griddl Eboone.
And his raffish crew were sleeping in their barrels and their bunks--
As the greenblood came creeping in their traditional and socially acceptable greenblood attire.

Graowl Tyiger had no eye or ear for aught but Griddl Eboone,
And the Lady seemed enraptured by his manly baritone,
Disposed to relaxation, and awaiting no surprise--
But the moonlight shone reflected from a thousand bright green eyes.

And closer still and closer the greenbloods circled round,
And yet from all the enemy there was not heard a sound.
The lovers sang their last duet, in danger of their lives--
For the foe was armed with toasting sawblades and cruel carving flamethrowers.

Then Giylle Beeurt gave the signal to his fierce verdant horde;
With a frightful burst of greenblood-enjoyed noisemakers the greenblooded trolls they swarmed aboard.
Abandoning their greeblood attire, and their remaining greenblood attire,
They battened down the hatches on the crew within their bunks.

Then Griddl Eboone she gave a screech, for she was badly skeered;
I am sorry to admit it, but she quickly disappeared.
She probably escaped with ease, I'm sure she was not drowned--
But a serried ring of flashing steel Graowl Tyiger did surround.

The ruthless foe pressed forward, in stubborn rank on rank;
Graowl Tyiger to his vast surprise was forced to walk the plank.
He who a hundred victims had driven to that drop,
At the end of all his crimes was forced to go ker-flip, ker-flop.

Oh there was joy in Hemisect Civisect when the news flew through the land;
At Busthead and Chittentown there was dancing on the strand.
Unclean pest-like squeek-beasts were roasted whole at New Hemisect, and at Four Fronds Space Docking Station 4365,
And a day of celebration was commanded nowhere as Graowl Tyiger was a military hero.

Group Class: Historical Re-enactment
This class is in one of the gym rooms, with reinforced walls. Trolls are getting into ridiculous looking outfits, hefting antiquated weapons, and yelling at each other in fancy olde speak. A list of famous troll battles, containing some you recognize from the previous class, has been pinned up on the wall. Apparently you have to pick one out, find a partner, and get your re-enactment jam on! (Trolls will not be given spaceships to fight in and must use their imagination instead.)

Mechanics
This is a standard battle rp, only with the winner/looser chosen beforehand by a dice roll (1d4, if the number is odd, the person who rolled the dice is the winner, if it is even, they are the looser) . For the battle to be a success, the troll who was designated the looser must hit 0hp first. Trolls can 'pull' their punches (deal half damage, rounded down, to a minimum of 1 damage), as long as the damage from the dice is below 6. (3,5 +1 from a weapon can be pulled, 3,6 cannot) If the wrong troll wins the battle, it must be re-done.

This can be used once per troll as a regular battle rp for growth. It has the same standard rp-each-post requirement.

Once you have completed Military History Basics and the Historical Re-enactment, you may put a novice tactics pin in your journal! Congratulations!

Discipline
Novice

Solo Class: Meditation/Focus Training 101
The class here is silent. Trolls sit around on the floor with their eyes shut, breathing slowly, and seemingly zoned out. Some are even slumped over and a few are clearly sleeping. The teacher spots you, and raises their fingers to their lips, the universal sign of silence. Then, they do a few other gestures that you're less sure of. After a couple of minutes of silent signing and miming, then step forwards and in a low voice, whisper the instructions to you.

Mechanics
Your troll must touch infinity, via a 1000 word post. In it, they must sit still, relax, and do their utter best to clear their mind and think of nothing. This can only be a group rp if each troll in it does the required 1000 word solo as they meditate, during the rp.

Group Class: Team Bonding
The room here is filled with chairs and cushions, facing each other in twos, threes, or fours. Trolls sit in small groups, jerking and blinking at each other in what looks like attempted synchronization. A few are even talking in pairs, stumbling over their words as they try and say the exact same thing at the exact same time. Amid the focus, a few giggles are slipping out, but the class's teacher quickly rounds on the offending troll and gives them the look of authority, causing them to stop. You can see a few spare seats, as well as some other trolls milling around, looking for partners.

Mechanics
Trolls must sit across from each other in groups of two to four, and mirror each other's actions and words. Each troll in the group must roll 1d4, with the order the dice are first rolled in being kept for the rest of the game. If one number matches with the number in the post above, all the trolls are syncing up with each other's movements and words. Matching numbers one time in a row = +1 point, matching numbers two times in a row = +5 points, matching numbers three times in a row = +10 points. A group must get a total of 10 points or more to complete the exercise.

Min 50 words per post.

Once you have completed Meditation/Focus Training 101 and Team Bonding, you may put a novice discipline pin in your journal! Congratulations!

Leadership
Novice

Solo Class: Leadership Skills: Understanding Your Allies and Enemies
This class is abuzz with activity. Trolls are scattered around, antagonising each other, and shouting orders to grey balls milling about with purpose... or not so much in the case of one that bumps into your leg. Up by the instructor is a pen full of squeaking and wiggling rodents. The instructor catches your eye, tells you to select three gerbils and pit them against either a fellow student or instructor, with you acting as their coach. Any further interference will be met with appropriate punishment. Gerbil battles are serious business.

Mechanics
Your troll must lead their gerbil squadron to victory! This can be done against another troll taking this class(against 1 other person), or against the instructor (npc).

You have three gerbils, and must give each commands during battle (roll 3d4, 1d4 for each gerbil). Each result rolled is strong and weak to another action. If your gerbil is strong to the opponent's gerbil of the same dice position, you get 1 point. If your gerbil is weak to the opponent's gerbil of the same dice position, you lose 1 point. Points cannot go below 0. If your gerbil is neither weak nor strong to the opponent, gain/lose nothing. Your goal is to reach 5 points first! If you lose against the instructor, you must re-take the class. If you are playing with another person, win or lose you pass the class.

If you are fighting an instructor, roll 6d4, with the first three being your gerbils, and the second three being theirs.

Moves:
1 - Defend! (Rolling into a ball.)
Weakness: 4 - Lost! Strength: 2 - Attack!

2 - Attack! (Attempting to eat the bit of food tied to the opponent's neck.)
Weakness: 1 - Defend! Strength: 3 - Assist!

3 - Assist! (Licking an ally gerbil.)
Weakness: 2- Attack! Strength: 4 - Lost!

4 - Lost! (Wandering off from the group.)
Weakness: 3 - Assist! Strength: 1 - Defend!

Min 50 words per post.

Group Class: Squadron Building
As soon as you arrive, the instructor passes you a resume outline and tells you to fill out all relevant criteria and personalise it. Looking around, you see more trolls doing just that. Several resumes are already posted up on the board under pseudonyms. The instructor informs you once you finish that you are to pick three resumes to build your ideal small squadron suited for any situation, and explain your choices.

Mechanics
Trolls participating who are not trying to complete the requirements for a training badge only have to do the first part of this exercise (filling and submitting a form).

Each troll must fill out the following form and put it in their reply. If they are struggling with the strengths and weaknesses and are working with trolls who know them personally, they can ask for help.
Demo Personnel File, For Training Use ONLY*
Name: full name
Blood colour: don't lie!
Combat Record: current amount of BAT rps done
Gear: military weapons +, current trinkets etc
Strengths: list 3 combat/military related strengths
Weaknesses: list 3 combat/military related weaknesses
Extra: powers? special skills? anything else brag-worthy?

*May be used for official, non-training purposes. By filling this form out you are agreeing to the distribution and modification of this form by the YTMA and the Royal Alternian Military.
Then trolls must select 3 files from the ones provided by the rest of their group and all other previously filled forms (see below) to make a team that balances each other's weaknesses with strengths, and carry out military operations in as many different environments as possible. They must present the names of the 3 trolls whose files have been chosen, along with a min 500 word essay on why they made these choices to the instructor, in a post separate from their own demo personnel file submission.

Personnel Files on record:
Quote:

Covert Ops
Novice

Solo Class: Understanding Intelligence and Behavioral Analysis
The tables in this class are currently occupied by a series of cages, each one containing its own gerbil and a specialised food chute. There are two buttons outside each cage, one labelled as delivering an electric shock and the other food. An occasional squeal of dismay perforates the lab. The instructor waves you over towards a table, telling you to "experiment". All observations are to be turned in at the end of the class period.

Mechanics
The goal of this class is to adjust your gerbil's personality to a predetermined target personality, via the old fashioned method of punishment and reward. This is totally scientific and a real thing you can do.

To determine your gerbil's starting personality, you can either 1: use your own gerbil that has been given a personality from a past shop-run event or 2: grab one of the bodies scuttling around in the waiting pens (roll 1d100. If the result is 50 or under, pick the closest personality to that number from the list below, rounding down. If the result is greater than fifty, divide the number by 2 then use the result the same way.) Once their starting personality is determined, do the same mechanics to determine their target personality. If you're rolling for both personalities, you can just do 2d100 in one post.

Once you have your starting personality (your current score) and target personality (the number you are trying to reach), you can choose to either feed (roll 1d8 and add the result to your current score) or shock (roll 1d8 and remove the result from your current score) your gerbil to try and get a score matching the target personality. Once your current score is closer to the targeted personality than to any other personality (rounded down or up) then your gerbil has been reconditioned! Victory!

Personalities:

Beautiful - 10
Cute - 20
Smart - 30
Spirited - 40

Min 50 words per post.

Group Class: Stake-Out
First thing upon arriving, the instructor tells you to find yourself some partners. Tonight's activity, they explain, is a stake-out. The scenario is such: you and your partner have received intelligence that your target will be appearing at a particular location around a particular time. The two of you must get there ahead of time, locate a hiding place, and once your target arrives, snap a few photos without getting caught! If you try and attack the target you will fail the class. The target is not a real threat, they are part of the exam. Do not attack the troll playing the part of the target. Not even a little.

Mechanics
Trolls must sit in their hiding space and rp with each other. Each time they complete 3 posts, they can roll 1d4 in the third post and add the number to their total. Once they reach a total of 12 points enough time has passed and the target they are waiting for arrives. They have then completed their goal. What an exciting stakeout!

If posts go past a full page, each post after (each post on page 2) will automatically add one point to their total.

Min 100 words per post. This can be used once per troll as a regular rp for growth.

Once you have completed Understanding Intelligence and Behavioral Analysis and the Stake-Out, you may put a novice covert ops pin in your journal! Congratulations!

Troll Relations
Novice

Solo Class: Media and Marketing
A troll wrinkles their nose and points you over to the sacks of gerbil food. From the smell of it, this is definitely not top tier food. It'll take some real salesmanship to get any troll who isn't desperate to take these bags. Unfortunately, that's the task in this class. Luckily for you there are several tools at your disposal. There is a box with stickers, crayons, and the like to really spice up the packages. In addition, tucked in the corner sits a giant gerbil costume you can jump around in to make the food look more appetizing. Who wouldnt want a bag of gerbil food given to them by a real life giant gerbil?

Mechanics
Your troll gets three sacks, each a different bargain-bin trash grade gerbil food brand.
Nublets Cheap-n-Eezy Miscellaneous Creature Feed, Dr Unfart's Protein Squares, and No Brand (tm) Power Pellets - expiry date five sweeps ago. Their task is to pour the sacks into smaller bags, decorate the bags (and themselves) to be as appealing as possible, then attempt to sell them (or just ... give them away) on the streets of Four Fronds.

In the post of your troll decorating the bags (min 200 words) roll 3d6. Each 1d6 is for each of the three brands. These are the 'target numbers' for each brand. If the same number is rolled twice, you can re-roll until you get a separate number for each brand.

When the troll goes out to advertise and hawk their bags in the street, roll 1d6 per post until one brand's target number has been selected 5 times, aka one bag of that brand has been given away 5 times. If no brand's number was rolled, your troll failed to give a bag away in that post.

Finally, they must write up a min 500 word report on why that brand was the most popular choice, based on their best guesstimates re: decoration, advertisement, presentation, etc.

Min 50 words per post.

Group Class: Product Advertising & Pitch
A paper is slapped down in front of your group, and you are told to fill it. Your job? To come up with the next hot, new product, and then develop a sales pitch for corporate sponsorship. Each group member should be responsible for a particular aspect of the exercise. Any repetition of previously used ideas/plagiarism will result in the paper being fed through the shredder to be utilised as gerbil bedding.

Mechanics
Trolls must collaborate with the rest of their group to invent some new product (think late night tv infomercial), name it (troll-style aka very literally and if possible using odd synonyms), illustrate it if possible, and pitch/demonstrate it. This should be 1000+ words with a 'who did what' explanation at the end. If the product has been described by another team previously, or is something that already exists as a widely-known thing on earth (ie a toothbrush), mule will notify them, they will fail, and must re-do it.

Past Projects:
none!

Once you have completed Media and Marketing and Product Advertising & Pitch, you may put a novice troll relations pin in your journal! Congratulations!
