Going on walks with Fiene was proving to be a great way for Nazriya to explore her new neighbourhood; the ginger cat was good at keeping up and some days they even managed a rather substantial trip together. Well. Substantial in cat terms, at least - she was pretty sure it'd be called something else if it was a dog she was walking.

Their tour around the suburbs of Ashdown was going great so far and all in all she was pretty sure that the walk today was going to be fun, but uneventful.

"Can we walk to the mall, Uncle Hux?"

Hux frowned at his eldest niece's sudden drawl. "No. Way." He said firmly. "I'm not walking another five miles so we can circle the mall six times. Tuff wouldn't go to such a crowded place, anyway." He ran a square-palmed hand through the very thick mane atop his head. The rubber band he had used to tame his locks had broken about five blocks back, thus he was forced to wear his voluminous wavy and shoulder length locks down. The summer heat was barely tolerable. His tan skin was coated with a slick sheen of sweat. He had tugged his tanktop off and looped it through one of his belt loops, baring a chest that reflected the sun's harsh rays, also drenched and dripping. He was- literally a hot (boiling) mess all because of that damn dog. He would give anything to return to the air conditioned coolness of his sister's home... but it seemed that wasn't going to happen anytime soon.

"T- TUFFY!"

Atticus was close to tears, his brown eyes wide and brimmed with them. His curls bounced almost comically atop his head as he stomped forward, doing his best to scan the entirety of the neighborhood as they continued their trek. Out of Margaery's three children, Atticus was the one closest to the tiny puffball he had so proudly deemed Sir Tuffington at the age of four... now shortened, thankfully, to Tuffy.

The dog had chewed its way out of its leash and had proceeded to bolt as far away from the children and their uncle as it possibly could. Hux had done his best to sprint after the mutt, but a run-in with a sprinkler had sent him sprawling. He'd lost sight of the pup a quarter of a mile back and they were doing their best to- hopefully- follow the dog's path.

Hux perked at the sudden sound of what could only be Tuffy's annoying yap-yap-yap. Atticus took off in a sprint, and Hux followed suit.

Tuffy was there, and so was a cat. Animal instinct kicked in, and the chase began. The cat fled over a fence of a nearby yard, and Tuffy scurried beneath it. <********>." Hux said, to the woman he assumed to be the owner of the cat. "I am so sorry."

One moment they'd been walking along nice and slow and then the next thing Naz heard was the distinctive yap yap yap of a small dog and then -

her ginger tabby cat ran like all hell was on her trail, ripping the leash straight out of her owner's hand and vaulting over the fence into the closest yard. "Fiene!" There was a great amount of shock, horror and panic mingled into her voice and she almost missed seeing the shitty little dog that'd run her beloved cat off. Before she could do anything though, the dog had burrowed under the fence and was, from the sounds of it, still in full pursuit.

She'd already scrambled over to the fence, one hand on it when someone spoke to her. "For helvede! This is your dog?" Her voice sounded more along the lines of how someone might say 'your pet serial killer', and the hand on the fence curled tight into a fist.

"You-" she started, only to stop at the sight of the kids with him. It was probably for the best, seeing as she wasn't quite sure exactly where that sentence would have taken her. Closing her eyes, Nazriya took a deep breath and imagined all her panic and anger forming into a ball in her hand, and then letting it go. "Okay. Okay. We need to get into that yard - by the sounds of your dog," she couldn't stop her lip from curling slightly at the words, "they haven't gone further."

Or the dog hadn't, at least. Fiene, though... Gods, she might kill someone if something happened to her cat.

"It's my dog!" Atticus cried. He was hopping up and down, desperately trying to peek through the overgrown foliage that climbed its way up the patchwork of metal. Luckily, Hux was more than tall enough to see over.

The cat had made it to a tree and Tuffy was going crazy, pacing in front of it and barking as loud as his tiny lungs would allow.

Hux mounted the fence and lifted himself up and over. "KEIGHLEY! Watch Attie."

The preteen, having refused to run after Hux and Atticus, had just arrived on the scene. She frowned at the woman.

"Who are you?" She asked, as she reached forward and yanked Atticus by the shoulder so that he was closer to her. She kept her hand on him, and Attie knew better than to try and escape her iron grip. She squinted at the house, then at the top of her uncle's head as he moved towards the tree that shaded the backyard he'd intruded upon. "Is this your place?"

"I'm -" she frowned back at the girl, though it was lacking in any animosity. "No, I was walking my cat when your dog," her eyes cut to the young boy and then back to the older girl, "started chasing her. She's-" A descriptive gesture towards the fence and the yard beyond it followed.

"I need to go get her." She didn't entirely trust the guy to be able to get Fiene for her - if that was even his intent at all. A quick nod to the two kids, and then she scaled the fence to follow their caretaker.

"Fiene!" It was an unwitting exhalation of relief upon seeing her cat safe, if in distress. The ginger tabby's fur was all but standing on end, the cat hissing and spitting at the dog pacing below as her leash dangled off the branch and into the air.

"Is your dog dangerous?" Maybe she could just walk past it and try to coach Fiene down. Maybe not though, considering the ferocity of the barking dog. "To humans, I mean. Or should I be worried for my ankles?"

Keighley watched the woman going with a bratty hmph. "C'mon, Attie, let's go in the shade. It's hot."

The younger boy sniffled and nodded.

Hux was doing his best to coral the cream-colored Pomeranian known as Tuffy, but the dog was <******** fast. He stopped for a moment and the demon puffball zipped his way straight back to the tree, doing energetic laps around the thick trunk as he continued to yap yap yap his head off.

Hux turned to look at the brunette that had climbed up-and-over after him. He shook his head. "Nah, he won't bite. He'll just ******** run from you." He stood up straight and ran his palms over his sweaty face, fingers lacing through his hair. "I've been following him for like five miles now." He was getting too old for this. "I'm sorry he scared your cat. Is she friendly? I could climb up and hand her down to you..." Tuffy's constant noise-making was already starting to give him a headache.

Five miles... Some quick calculations in her head and Naz unwittingly had to feel sorry for him and his kids. "Man, that sucks." There was an empathetic camaraderie in her voice.

"Well..." Tapping her fingers on her arm, she thought for a moment. "Reckon it might be better to grab your dog first - I don't think Fiene is going anywhere right now and to be honest I'm not entirely sure either one of us could get her down with this yapping. She might just bolt again and start another chase," she sighed, swinging her braid back over her shoulder and cursing this hot weather. But at least right now things were relatively stable and she knew where her cat was at; reset the situation and she might not be so lucky.

"We could corral him in - me on one side and you can grab him from the other?" A hand on her waist, she gave him a half-smile, trying to be a bit encouraging. Hell, he looked like he needed it - aside from looking like he came straight out of a ladies' mag, anyway.
