I have made my first goal ever! And I need help because I know nothing. GOAL: by next July 4th, be fit!!! I've heard many times that eating is more important then working out. I have decided to cut sodas. It has been 3 days since my last soda, on my honor, or may I be chopped up and made into soup. xd I'm going to replace soda with Gold Peak Tea, Skinny Girl waters, and vitamin waters. I hope. Those are sooo delicious!! I know nothing about loosing weight or eating right. I don't know where muscles are in the body or what they do or how I can help them. I loooove food....but I'm going to at least start by trying really hard to not get seconds or pile it all on one. And I have about 3 sweet teeth. They're going to not like this. But I'm going to try as hard as I can. Although, my best may not be enough. What I need is knowledge. What muscles are where, what do they do, how can I help my body, what to do when confronted with a delectable cupcake, what to do in the gym and what are carbs and proteins .... I'm fine with how I look now, but at the same time, I'd like to be better. I'm also on the Depo shot. I don't know how much it contributes, but it does make you gain...
Does anyone know anything about this or sites or books to help me learn??

Personally, I know that cutting out sugar is an important step in trying to shed extra pounds. Cutting out soda is a great step!
Make sure your alternate drinks are sugar free. I don't really trust artificial sugars either, but that's up to you.
I don't know much about working out, but I stay fit through a good diet, trying to be as active as possible (taking opportunities to walk or dance), and doing yoga, which burns a surprising amount of energy while never needing to feel likes real challenge.
This is all of my personal experience. I hope any of this is helpful.

It's too slow and relaxed for me, but...weight only goes away by doing stuff. -shrugs- and I don't do s**t.

I love yoga!! Try a faster routine... My fav is "fit body yoga" by gaiam. It mixes more athletic stuff with the yoga and it moves faster. That dolphin pose just kills me. gonk And Pilates.... It works really well for legs.
I'd also cut sugar. I gave it up... And it's tough, but the fake sugars are pretty affordable now days so it's easy to make desserts when you have to have one. I also limit my carbs pretty strictly. It's not for everyone, but it works pretty well for me. Up the veggies and healthy fats. I love coconut oil in shakes. Fills you up pretty good. Plus it makes good lotion, so of you spill it's okay. Lol XD I still drink pop, but it's diet only. I need caffeine! Also, read labels... Some of those teas have crazy amounts of sugar.
Cook your own food! It makes controlling extra calories much easier and it's a useful skill.
There are also calculators online that help you determine the correct calorie amounts for your ideal weight/exercise level. 3nodding
--------------- I do like 20mins or so of yoga a day And then I stick to a slightly modified keto diet. Works for me... But boy is it tough if you can't commit. And it's not fr everyone, it can mess with medication and health condition so it's alway good to check first if your going to go extreme.

So much truth here. 20 minutes of yoga is plenty daily, then maybe two hour long guided exercises a week. A great site for free yoga is doyogawithme.com. Tons of free, amazing classes. I'm vegan, which makes it easy to avoid bad fats, as long as I cook for myself. Most processed foods contain added sugar and oil, so be mindful of that.

The yoga site requires money. sad I really wish I had control over my own money. But noooooo. I'm hoping for one that can play over my phone that maybe I can remember.

Whoa. That was hard man. I'm breathing heavy and sweating... I live on the 3rd floor. I went up and down those stairs 10 times. Like 8 stairs in one flight, and every time I set foot on the 3rd landing was what I counted. Dude, i feel so drenched. It's stormy out so I did it inside. I just needed to move. I think I'll do 10 more later in the day.

There's a few good yoga apps for your phone. But I'd suggest looking at a library too... They have exercise videos now days.

I have a pretty simple diet. I mostly just eat sautéed veggies in sauce with some carbs. It's easy to find recipes on Pinterest, and the best so far are from forks over knives. http://www.forksoverknives.com/recipes/

I just joined so I hope it's okay that I put in my 2 cents here! If your goal is to get fit-to be healthier, I feel it starts with knowledge. Knowledge and countless tiny decisions! First, know where you stand. The best way to do this is track what you are eating. This is the site I've used: My Fitness Pal It's free and really helpful with populating nutritional info. This helps you: -Be aware of what, how often and how much you're eating. Sometimes just being aware helps, as does being accountable (even if its just to yourself). -To learn about the nutritional value of what you're eating. You may be surprised by how unhealthy or healthy what you actually eat is. -Get in the habit of reading nutritional info. From the grocery store to the kitchen, this helps what finally ends up on your plate. There is so much more to say, along each step of your journey, but this is just to get started. And food-I love food! I'd be happy to share recipes and meal ideas-just let me know what kinds of things you like. As for physical activity-I've never been strong there. lol. But I used the "10 minutes, 3 times a day" thing as a bare minimum. And included anything physical-walking, dancing, housework, etc.
