Welcome to the Kalos Safari Zone! At the Safari Zone we have begun to hold capture contests! As the name implies it is a contest to see who can catch the biggest, rarest Pokemon out there! The contest is simple, in the Safari Zone you will find many different kinds of Pokemon, from all over the world in fact! We give participants three Safari Balls to use and attempt to capture the best Pokemon they can, or you can use any three Pokeballs of their own, if you do, we do not give you any Safari Balls. [You may use one of yours and two of ours and so forth. You are only allowed to use three Pokeballs total.] You are allowed to take just one of your own Pokemon into the park to use to weaken a wild Pokemon for capture, so don't let it get knocked out! Pokemon are judged on their quality, rarity, and how well the capture was roleplayed. So are you interested? Then sign up, take your Safari Balls, and hit the grass and find the best Pokemon you can!

Also, the Pokemon available is always different. The zone we'll be hunting in this time is the Pokemon Village! That's right, we have worked out a deal with the village's protector, Snowbelle City gym leader Wulfric, to allow us to host a contest here in hopes of giving these abandoned Pokemon a good home. While the Pokemon here are relatively timid they are very picky about who they will go with and certainly some will want to test your worthiness. Who knows what kind of Pokemon you will find here!

How to Participate:

The rules for the Safari Contest are simple. Pick one Pokemon to use in the contest, and when you post your character looking for a Pokemon use the random number generator to find out what Pokemon your character finds. Set the lowest number to 1 and the highest to 100. Once your post goes through, check to see what number you got, then, look at the list of available Pokemon, at the bottom of this post, to see what Pokemon appeared.

Then, in your next post once the Pokemon has been decided, begin battling it all in one post. But before you post your battle, use the Random Number generator again to see if the capture was successful, setting the lowest to 1 and the highest to 10, however, different Pokeballs have different success rates depending on what Pokemon or area you are using them on/in. Consult the list below to see what Pokeballs benefit this area.

[Great Ball] 60% Success Rate on any Pokemon.

[Ultra Ball] 70% Success Rate on any Pokemon.

[Net Ball] 70% Success Rate on Bug and Water type Pokemon, 50% on all others.

[Dusk Ball] 70% Success Rate on Pokemon found in caves, 50% on anything else.

[Quick Ball] 80% Success Rate on your first Pokemon encountered only, 50% on all consecutive.

[Timer Ball] 80% Success Rate if it's your last Pokeball only, 50% on any prior.

[Repeat Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon if you encountered the Pokemon in your previous post, 50% if not.

[Heal Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon if you failed to capture it once already, 50% if not.

[Fast Ball] 80% Success Rate on a fast Pokemon.

[Heavy Ball] 80% Success Rate on a heavy Pokemon.

[Level Ball] 80% Success Rate on a first stage Pokemon (Fletchling, Hoothoot, etc.), 50% on all others.

[Love Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon with only a single gender, 50% on all others.

[Lure Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon fished out of the water.

[Friend Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon that evolves with happiness.

For success rates of 50%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

For success rates of 60%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

For success rates of 70%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7

For success rates of 80%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8

For success rates of 90%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9



As long as you still have Pokeballs you may continue to hunt and capture Pokemon until you get one you are comfortable with. If you catch a Pokemon, but then choose to catch another, you must release the first Pokemon you caught before keeping the second. Once you run out of Pokeballs your time is up and the Pokemon you last caught will be the one judged.

When everyone is done (a specified time will be given when the contest will end, regardless if others are done) all Pokemon caught will be judged. Each Pokemon will be judged individually in separate posts where a random number will be used to judge their quality, between 1 and 5 and the number it lands on will be its quality. The other stat taken into consideration is the Pokemon's rarity, its species. A rather common Pokemon like Fletchling won't give as much points as a Pokemon like Froakie would give much more. However, with quality, a Fletchling could beat out a Froakie.

Contestant Prizes:

Prizes will be given out to the top three contestants. The top three are allowed to either keep the Pokemon they caught, or take a prize of Snag Coins. The first place contestant may keep both the Pokemon and take the Snag Coins, if he/she so chooses to do so. Note, that the Pokemon still counts towards your rank limit.

1st place prize: 20 Snag Coins and one Snag Emblem OR 20 Snag Coins and a Pokemon Egg from Alola!

2nd place prize: 20 Snag Coins

3rd place prize: 15 Snag Coins

All participants who did not place receive 5 Snag Tickets as a consolation prize as well as their captured Pokemon.


Also, if you use a Pokemon that's not fully evolved that Pokemon will earn Evolution Points at the end of the contest depending on how many Pokemon it knocked out. Posts that are incredibly short (Ditto used Thundershock and knocked out the Magikarp.) won't be counted. But that doesn't mean they all have to be novels, just put in some effort. You can also gain Purification Points in the same way. Don't worry, the Safari Zone is protected by an Immunizer so no virus spreading here!

NEW! The Safari Zone is now broken up into three areas. There is the Main Area, which contains 150 possible results. You then have Side Area A and Side Area B which have smaller lists to make it easier to get a certain Pokemon you want, however they contain less rare Pokemon and no shiny Pokemon. When posting declare which area you're searching in.

"Hmmm, a Cleffa, Not really what i'm looking for. Lets sneak by and not disturb it." Walking by the continue their quest in the main area.

The duo come across a Bunnelby enjoying some berries it's found. "I don't feel right interrupting it's meal. Let's move on in the current area."

Connor was applying a new set of bandages to his hands when he received the announcement. A Safari Contest in the Pokemon Village? That place, as he recalled, was a nature reserve under the protection of the nearby gym leader. How did Sub manage to pull that one off? Not one to miss out on such a rare opportunity, he neglected to finish his task and headed out for the site. But not before making a quick stop at the store to purchase a pokeball.

With the help of Claydol, Connor would arrive and immediately make his way to the river. He wasn't sure if the Pokemon he was looking for was here, but it certainly didn't hurt to look. The pokemon partner he brought for this task remained in the pokeball for now until he needed to call on him.

The boy peered into the river, trying to bait something into jumping out. While this did prove successful, he immediately regretted his methods when a Red Basculin appeared. It lunged at him with open jaws, nearly getting bit in the face had he not moved in time. The fish continued its lunge and ended up beached on the river bank. It didn't even seem right to battle it at this point. Connor politely swept the fish back into the water with his foot at which it then swam off. He then called out his Meditite, Asura just for extra protection. She was always vigilant and cautious, so her extra set of eyes would be helpful.

Suddenly, Asura would jump before her trainer to shield him from danger he couldn't see. It took a moment, but a Krabby came crawling out of the river, not even giving them a glance. "Medii!" the little one called out to it, striking a fighting pose. The crab stopping in its track to look at the pokemon and trainer. There was a long awkward pause, the crustacean blinking a few times before going about its business. "Uh-huh. Asura, we're looking for Poliwhirl, not every pokemon that gets near us." "Mediii..." she responded, shifting her gaze to him. Connor sighed, shaking his head. "Right. They look like-" he started to explain, when said pokemon made a quick appearance as it leaped up in the water before diving back down. "That! Where'd it go?!" he shouted, rushing to the river edge, looking around.

While Connor was looking around, Asura had resumed her guard duty by watching his back. All she knew that needed to be done was keeping her trainer safe from all danger. Like the Psyduck who came waddling nearby. It got a little too close for her liking that she had to call it out. "Med, Medi!" "Psy?" the confused duck looked at her, even more confused than usual. It didn't get a chance to question further as the little pokemon proceeded to chase it off.
