Gren, for once, was not alone. Nor was she with her newly acquired daor, who had so recently challenged and won her heart. This day, on an overcast afternoon and covered in dust, she traveled with the black-spotted female, Mawasii. They were rather different in both mind and body, but so far they seemed to have created a sound friendship.
Gren was a large, hulking female who would have looked more comfortable with a mane about her face. Her jutting teeth and knotted fur gave her the appearance of an aggressive ruffian. Her speech, unfortunately, only aggravated this perception. She had never quite mastered the common tongue and her words were jilted and heavily accented.
On the other paw, Mawasii was sleek and dexterous, with a manner that could break down barriers with little effort. She was, truthfully, not quite what a Nergui should be, and yet she had joined them nevertheless. They had shared a common goal once...though now? Now, she was not so sure.
"Can you wait a moment?" Mawasii called.
Gren turned and grunted in acknowledgement.
"I just want to check past that outcrop there. Be right back!"
Slowly, as if with great effort, Gren sat.DavyJnah Photobucket doesn't seem to be working atm!! Both are Nergui females, however.

Suoh had just been rummaging through some things that were discarded. Not too sure what they were but they were trinkets. Trinkets were always nice to have even to do a bit of trading if he might need it. He had felt a bit grouchy lately, mostly because he had been having trouble catching food. Although he grabbed a small bite it wasn't something that had filled him up. He had been left with scraps really and didn't know why he was having such trouble as of late. It was straight frustrating.
Lifting his head to a sound the male looked to see a female coming closer to him in the distance. What was she coming to do? Had she seen these trinkets and wanted to come rummage through them as well? If so he wouldn't scare her off, she had as much right as he did.Kimaria That's fine its working for me.

Mawasii had not seen him -- not yet, anyway.
It was not trinkets that had caught her eye, but the awkward flap of a wing that she hoped to be an injured bird. She came through the long grasses with her head down low, only to discover the bird enjoying a sand bath and completely able to fly away from her - which it did, a split second later. It's shrill, shrieking tone seemed to mock her failure.
With a deep sigh, she turned to glance around her and almost jumped out of her fur at the sight of a strange lion just across from her position. She gave a surprised roar, moving into a defensive position on reflex - until she noticed that he didn't seem to be looking particularly agressive.
The sound of snapping branches and undergrowth behind her was the only indication she needed to know that Gren had heard her exclamation.
"What wrong?" The large, green-furred lion growled.
"Lion," Mawasii returned, "not one of ours."

The roar had initial startled the male but he righted himself as he looked over in the direction. Now he was really seeing them as a second lioness came into the picture. Although he was still far enough away that he didn't see their features perfectly but he could tell that they were at least of the opposite gender than himself.
Still the male remained where he was not sure if he should approach or not, he didn't want to leave all the trinkets he found alone but at the same time they were outnumbering him. On top of that he could see that the second one who was larger than the other.
He gulped, well that could end up being bad.

The two females exchanged a glance. Neither of them liked jumping to conclusions but a male out here of that colouring made them think of Firekin. Still, he was pretty far away from the desert to be travelling alone. More likely this was a rogue lion, or someone looking to join that stupid desert pride.
Then, taking a step forward, the dark lioness decided to break the silence.
"Hey!" Mawasii called, "who're you?"
Gren, a moment later, mirrored Mawasii's step and gave another growl. "He has something."
Mawasii twitched an ear and followed up her first question with another. "What do you have there?"

"Just a passerby." The male called back. Alright this was strange. "Just trinkets" The male called back. Now he decided to take a few steps forward to close the gap between them and also get a better look at the two females who were there. He needed to be careful with these two, he did not know their intentions.
"What are you two lovely ladies doing out here?"

There were a lot of 'justs' coming out of his mouth, Mawasii decided. Her suspicions were raised, though for the moment she decided it would probably be better to engage in conversation. She was especially interested in these so-called 'trinkets' he was speaking of.
"A collector, are you?" Mawasii asked, trying to peer past him to where they might be kept.
"Horde pass through," Gren replied in rough tones, blurting the words in a failed attempt at covering her embarrassment at being called 'lovely'.
Mawasii gave a slight smile at her friend's awkwardness. "If you need someplace to call your own, our 'horde' is always recruiting. We could do with strong lions like you." She eyed him agreeably, though her gaze still tried to peer at what lay behind him. "Depending on what your trinkets are, they might be highly valuable to our people."

Collector? Him? Well maybe a little bit. Not someone who went and collected things all the time but on some occasions he did find something that caught his attention that he'd later give away or lose. Though her peering at the collection he had found he decided to allow her to see it and moved a bit out of the way. Was there anything there that was really important.
Seemed the other female had a speech problem. Which was fine, he could get around that. Though at the notion of recruiting he was curious. Though he wasn't entirely sure about that. Did they travel a lot?
"Take them if you want them." He responded to her. "Are you a traveling horde?" Maybe he'd be ok with traveling but he'd rather stick to a pride that had borders and a place to stay without moving.

As he shifted away, Mawasii craned her neck to take a look. She couldn't be certain, but the trinkets he had found didn't seem instantly valuable. She gave a small sniff of disappointment.
"Travel...yes. Sometime." Gren returned in her broken speech.
Mawasii continued; "We switch between settlements, moving where we are needed. Sometimes we can stay for many years but other times for just a few months," she shrugged, "we do as we are told, is all, and change is good. Though I do wish we had finished up our business before we left." She had been desperate to get even with the Firekin over the death of her father.
"We go now. For best." Gren continued solemnly. "You seem no threat. You are rogue?"

Seriously, what was wrong with her speech? Though he wouldn't say anything he was curious as to why it came out so cub like. If he said something about it he wasn't sure he'd get a positive response. And he wasn't really looking to get into a scrap today. Maybe in a few days but right now, not so much.
"Traveling is always good. Let's you see the sights." He responded to the female whose speech was broken.
Then he turned to the other female before responding back to broken speech, "Yes I am a rogue. The name's Suoh, if you're interested. Might as well get some formalities out since we've been chatting a bit. But if you lovely ladies need to get on, I'll leave you be. If you want any of these trinkets, you're more than welcome... like I said... to take some." Though he doubted they would since the dark female looked uninterested now.Kimaria I think we could probably finish this one up, like two more posts? Yours and mine?

Gren gave a short nod. She had been filled with so much doubt and anxiety recently that it did feel good to set one paw in front of the other and not look back. She cared little for the clashes between Nergui and Firekin.
"Nice to meet you, Suoh. It makes a refreshing change to meet a lion with manners, like yourself." Ah, it was a shame, indeed. Mawasii had never stayed put long enough to take a mate and no one in the Nergui had caught her eye as of yet. Egotistic males who liked to scrap about everything weren't really her type. In fact, Gren probably had landed herself the best male of the bunch - not that Mawasii was jealous, of course.
"My name is Mawasii and this is Gren. Be careful on your way through. Some of our kind are not so kindly to passersby, so be on guard."
"Safe travels," Gren added gruffly, taking a moment to eye the trinkets herself, now.

Mawasii and Gren. He'd remember the two names of the horde as he would continue his journey and take note of what they said. He did not want to have run into any of the horde that might try something with him before he got to his final stop. He was thankful for the heads up.
"Safe travels as well." He looked at the trinkets and decided against taking any. He didn't really need them where he was going. Then he headed out, he needed to get to where he was going.
