I'm not sure how that'll turn out really. It sounds like a neat idea but chances are it will comeout rather buggy to start with and all the little whiners will complain about it until things are fixed. Then they'll still whine about it. Then something else will breakdown because of code changes or whatever.
But it will probably go the same way fishing did when it started out. Fishing was buggy as hell too and it seems to be working ok.. I dunno chances are I'll still play around with it when it does come out.

I think that's why they're going through as much bug tuning as they can. Sure there will be bugs, always have been when something new comes out.

Damn bugs come out even in a simple sort routine for a database, let alone in something the scale of Gaia having a houses system implemented.
One of the reasons I totally gave up on programming 3 years ago. Good riddance too.

Well, as long as I can have a Mac mini, an iPod mini, a Mini Cooper S and a mini bar, I'm set for the time being.
Does anyone here believe Gaia will ever get out of the alpha test stage before 2010 as Floyd has predicted in the past?

depends on the stupidity of the users. I am sure VO and company will go the full gusto.
now... feasible for this year? I dunno.

I think it depends more on Lanzer and VO's ambition and actual plans on what Gaia will eventually become. IN THE FUTURE!
That, and whether they're willing to release a strictly bug-free product or not. It's one thing having World of Warcraft, where it felt like a commercial product on beta (delayed for more years than anyone cares remembering!), and Saga of Ryzom (approx. 3 worth of development), which was stupidly buggy. Ironical, considering that you had to hunt giant insect things in that game.

EDIT: *scrolls down* Oh..right...didn't see that...im new to this guild. domokun I know, I know... Just so you know what many of us think about it. Mmmh... What other ideas besides Gaia Homes can you find? How about Gaia Jobs? Gaia Weddings? Gaia Childbirths? Gaia Housing for the Elderly? Gaia Cemeteres? Gaia Bar? Gaia Brothels (The New Personals?)? Gaia Gaia (In which your character gets acomputer, logs into a message board inside Gaia and creates an even tinier avatar, spending a new type of fake currency buying even smaller, pixelated stuff, thus turning Gaia into a Paradoxical gargantuan creature bound to devour itself in an Ourobourical style!) ? The list goes on and on. Gaia Lists?

Savanna_Rose Well, as long as I can have a Mac mini, an iPod mini, a Mini Cooper S and a mini bar, I'm set for the time being. Does anyone here believe Gaia will ever get out of the alpha test stage before 2010 as Floyd has predicted in the past? I predict that Gaia will be spread across 250 servers by 2010 and the number of bugs will have increased exponentially. At the rate things are going now, I also predict Gaia Online will be in Beta by sometime in the Summer of 2014.

I predict that by 2008 I'm going to snap and destroy Lanzer if he makes Gaia any more ludicrous. I won't kill him...I'll destroy him. I will issue an orbital strike on whatever state he lives in, just to take him out.
