As the dates of Anthemusa approached, emails had been sent out to all interested parties, tailored specifically to the recipient and whether they had inquired about setting up a vendor station or if they'd applied to participate as a musical talent. Either way, they received a message:

Dear Sidney James,

Renegade Media would like to thank you for your interest in performing for Anthemusa and would like to welcome you at it's doors on Monday June 27, 2016 for a formal meeting at 3:00 PM.

Miss Jade Argent, of YouTube's Ally Argent, will meet you in the lobby and guide you to the designated conference room where your audition will take place. Please provide a set list for today's audition with two to three pieces as well as your proposed set list for Anthemusa. Please see the attached documents for a list of forms we required.

We look forward to seeing you.

Sincerely,

The Renegade Media Corporation.

The attached files included disclosure statements, a list of required operating permits for the vendors, along with a small detailed contract entailing what type of proceeds were required from the vendors and how the performers would be paid, among other legal forms. Also included was the company's address and information on where they would be able to find parking, assuring that the front desk would validate as needed.

On the date designated by the letter they would find Jade standing before the front desk in a simple pale colored blouse, dark skirt, and tights with a clipboard. Her white hair fell in soft, short waves and one side was tucked behind an ear. She was leaning against the counter, conversing with the receptionist behind it while waiting. The hand that wasn't holding the clipboard securely against her chest was waving about animatedly, a grin on her face as she recounted some sort of story.

Blue eyes kept glancing towards the door to make sure she didn't miss her guest.

Getting the email had been exciting. Next to night clubs full of laser lights and top shelf vodka, music festivals were Sidney's natural environment. Outdoors, under the sky and without the confines of walls, it felt so much more open and free. The small DJ had practically knocked down the door to get in with her application.

If there was going to be a music festival in DC, then the Technicolor Butterfly had to be a part of it. It wouldn't be a real festival without her.

After years of DJing professionally and working countless gigs at countless clubs and bars and festivals and venues, Sid had the audition process down to a routine... but that didn't mean she didn't get little stomach flip flops as she tugged open the front door to the building. A rush of cool, air conditioned air swept away the summer heat and ruffled her short rainbow hair.

The inside had the definite sleek, modern vibe of a company building and Sid immediately felt out of place in her chunky, black, buckled boots and fishnets with holes in them. It wasn't what she typically wore for a show, but she'd tried to keep up something of the persona she wore on stage with a silver sequined top and tiny black shorts, wrists covered in leather bracelets and plastic bands.

3:05 PM, by the clock on the wall, but not badly past the time she was supposed to be here. Now... where was this Jade Argent? There had been something about youtube in the email, but she hadn't paid much attention. When she swung away from the doors, a white haired woman at the front desk caught her attention and she headed for the chatting pair, her pair of ipads under arm.

Maybe this was Jade? And if not, well, the chick at the desk should know how to get a hold of her.

It was hard to miss the rainbow hair, which drew Jade's attention from the girl behind the desk immediately. Blue eyes lifted, shifted towards the short woman who'd stepped through the doors and was tentatively making her way towards them. Without a doubt, the woman knew that the Technicolor Butterfly was approaching.

Despite looking into the woman a bit, catching a few crappy snippets of low quality video and even attempting to catch a show to no avail, Jade didn't know quite what to expect.

And, well, the approaching woman wasn't what she expected at all.

The outfit certainly threw her, as it wasn't something Jade would wear to a business meeting all confidence aside, but she had to remind herself that Sidney was a DJ and used the mantle of the Technicolor Butterfly, so she probably dressed the part. It made sense and so, Jade shifted, resting her back against the desk and extending her hand out toward Sidney. "Ms. Butterfly I presume?"

Her arrival was noticed and Sid watched as the pale haired woman straightened up to face her. She seemed expectant and that was a good clue this was who she was here to meet, especially with the greeting she got.

The short woman laughed as she extended her hand to clasp the other's, bracelets sliding down her arm. "Sidney James, yeah." She said as she shook the hand in hers. "I think that's what I put on my application, anyway."

"You'd be Jade Argent then? Its nice to meet you. I've got..." As Sid paused, she wagged her elbow and the ipads tucked into them, a small sheaf of papers folded in half tucked between them. "My paperwork here, whenever you folks want them, as well as the set list I'm proposing for the show. I'm sorry I'm a little late, parking was a mess."

Whatever surprise the other woman might have shown with Sid's arrival was unnoticed or ignored. The DJ's smile and manner were as bright as ever and she seemed relaxed in their surroundings, despite how odd she looked. This was as much a performance as anything done on stage, and Sid was not going to let herself falter here.

"Is there anything you need from me straight off?"

Jade found it interesting that Sidney had to note that she thought she put her name on the application but didn't voice the curiosity. Now might not have been the time nor the place for it and if it were a concern, the ceo and his officials could handle it. The white haired woman was there to be the pleasant face of the corporation, someone who handle the PR side of things.

"Ah, I'll take your paperwork," she said, extending her hand for the papers. Her fingers are gentle, careful not to disturb the ipads beneath Sidney's arm when she takes them.

"Just the list of songs you'll be performing for us today." She replied, organizing the paperwork on her clipboard before beckoning for the shorter woman to follow. "This way, if you would."

Sid released the had she shook to juggle her ipads and extract the papers from between them. One, she slid out of the sheaf and brandished with a little flutter.

"Set list is here." She said, tucking her tablets safely into the crook of her arm again. She was markedly careful with them, but then, they'd cost more than a couple of hundred dollars a piece and that kind of money was hard to come by in her life. Even more so if the things you used to make that money got damaged.

She stepped out smartly when the woman turned to lead her out of the lobby, her bright hair bouncing around her face. There was a definite jiggle to her step, equal parts excitement and the low-key adrenaline nerves of performing. She was looking forward to this, for sure.

"Do you folks have a speaker set-up?" She asked as they walked, her boots making soft thunks with each step. She had a small Boise making an obvious bulge in the pocket of her black jean shorts, but a real sound system was always preferable. Her little bluetooth speaker was good, but not that good.

"Perfect," Jade chirped, blue eyes skimming the list. She hummed happily afterward, clearly looking forward to hearing the prepared list. Confident Sidney was behind her, Jade didn't look back but instead led her down the hall and stopped before a door.

"Oh, of course." The woman had made sure that their potential acts were properly equipped with a speaker system. It'd taken some convincing, but Jade often got what she wanted. "We weren't sure what exactly would be needed but there should be at least two speakers you could plug into. The set for the festival will be more catered to the needs of the performers."

Some of the bands had their own set ups that they'd bring, but the company was capable of providing as needed.

"Ready?" She asked with a white brow arched and a carefully constructed smile on her lips as she leaned her shoulder into the door and wrapped fingers around the doorknob.

"Beautiful." Sidney purred as she ran her fingers through her hair, unconsciously preening in preparation of meeting her judges for the audition. She tugged her shirt straight before she fiddled with settling her bracelets, turning a bright and warm smile on the woman who had escorted her from the front.

"Ready." She said as she straightened up and nodded, squaring her shoulders in a show of confidence and poise. Despite the excitement, she had to remember; this was just like any other audition. She just had to go out and do her thing, the same as any other time, save as all those nights in the clubs.

She had this.

"Hey, thanks, by the way." She said as the woman opened the door for her. Jade. She'd have to remember name. She offered her a friendlier smile that time, before she turned her attention on the room behind the doors and strode inside with a swinging, bouncing step.

Jade watched, because she was always watching and observing, as Sidney fiddled with her outfit. There was a calm, casual smile on her lips meant to reassure the other woman before she pushed down on the door handle, pausing only as she was thanked.

"Not a problem," Jade quipped pleasantly. "I've listened to a few of your tracks, you'll do wonderful I'm sure." Ushering Sidney in, she gestured towards the area that had been set up and nodded at her. Then she turned and walked over towards the row of men dressed in suits and offered the clipboard filled with all of Sidney's information and forms to one in particular.

The man sat in the middle, had obviously dyed black hair that was slicked back, a pleasant amount of facial hair and an aged but still decently handsome face. When he looked over the papers then looked up at Sidney, there was a leering note to his expression.

"Miss James, please set up as needed and do tell us a bit about yourself before you start."
