"CAROLINE." It was quite unusual for Harvard to raise his voice and yet, here he was, opening his door and his mouth before hurrying into the hallway. It helped that their rooms were so close. Or, it would, if she was in her room at the moment. He didn't check before shouldering the door open.

Porches

They'd co-opted a nice little porch - a part of some abandoned house just outside the settled areas of the town. After a quick sweep through it (with the admonishment that Caroline should stay outside - he'd seen the shadow things and why expose her to that?), it had been determined relatively safe. Therefore, the porch was now occupied by two fold-out chairs, a cooler of drinks, and one tangled mess of a hammock. Maybe they could tie it up later.

"If you got a house, would you want to live near Mimsy?"

Porches

With one foot braced against a post of the porch railing, Caroline tipped her chair back and rocked it a few times before balancing it at a decidedly unstable angle. Her stare was turned thoughtfully skyward, focused on the faint imprint the moon left in the summertime sky, as though it might give her an answer.

She shrugged.

"Not about what I want." Which sounded pathetic, so she put on a smile. "Cami's not far off, though. She likes when I'm around."

"Wh--" No, she could guess. "Christ."

She shifted, face scrunched in concentration, and huffed out a short sigh.

"I mean, okay--thought about it as, like, a joke, but hah. No. 'Cause--no. Did she?"

Nestled within a scattered assortment of wires, circuit boards, tiny metal limbs, one bottle of red nail polish, and the gutted plastic shell of a child's toy was a wide-eyed Caroline, wearing only her underwear and an expression that suggested she had no explanation for this. She would have stashed it all if she hadn't lost a precious few seconds by being so startled at the sound of her name being shouted.

"...uh-huh?" she answered, hesitant.
