The Temple of Life & Death is one of the main temples across Istrea, each nation or territory having one. It is a temple that pays homage to Goleta's belief in the two Gods of life and death. It is a temple where babies are blessed in the name of Eliora (Goddess of Life, dressed in white and pictured holding a lantern), or where the elderly live their last days before passing into the hands of Merrikh (God of Death, dressed in black and pictured holding a hourglass). The two Gods are seen as twins, yet polar opposites. Neither is seen as purely good nor evil, but completely neutral beings who only give life and take it away; allowing mortals to live their lives without their control.
Priests and Priestesses of Eliora bless children after they are born and many come to the Temple to give birth. Priests and Priestesses of Merrikh attend to those who have been sent to the Temple in their last days, giving them what they can to comfort them before their passing into the hands of the God of Death.
