Username: Rengato
Name: Rowan Gram
Nickname: Cursed Man, Dragon-Slayer, Lord Gram, The Delinquent of Shibuya, Grand Knight
Race: Zombie/Living Armament/Fae
Ethnicity: European
Gender: Male
Orientation: Heterosexual (Wouldn't you be mad if I put asexual. lol.)
Alignment: TN
Affinity: Fire
Age: 26
Birthday: August 8th
Height: 6' 2"
Weapon:
❖ Demonic Body, Gram (Sacred Armament): A legendary artifact said to have brought about the death of many dragons. If a weapon is wielded by the user then it is transformed into Balmung, taking on its dragon-slaying properties as well as any prior properties it had before.
❖ Sacred Blade, Excalibur: This is a legendary artifact said to have belonged to the queen, referred to as king, of Carmillion. It is what Terrans refer to as an Append Armament, capable of latching onto various other items to alter their properties to become "Excalibur." For Rowan, this Armament latched onto Gram, causing his body to adapt the abilities of Excalibur into its own abilities. This causes whatever sword he holds to be referred to as both "Excalibur" and "Balmung." For shorthand, it is referred to as Balmung "EX." The Append Armament's abilities that it adapted into Rowan's body are listed in the abilities section.
❖ Demon's Bane: Demon's bane was a sword forged in the demon country. It is made from an ore only found in their mines. For some odd reason, demons tend to avoid the ore, making it very useful against foreign nations. It is also deadly to them and acts much like a poison.
❖ Soul Slayer: This is a sword with an ethereal blade, unable to harm the physical body of anyone cut with it. It does, however, cut a person's mana and ethereal form, weakening them with every attack and ignoring defenses that do not protect against the ethereal plane. Enough strikes from this sword will cause a person to pass out.
Mage:
❖ Blake Trinity
Natural Abilities: (Name and Rank)
❖ Killing Intent: Rowan's natural killing intent can be felt by others as an aura. This intent, however, can now be controlled, making it more like an ability that he possesses and is capable of instilling on others. For dragons, this killing intent is felt twice as much, doubling its rank. D~C
❖ "Light" Affinity: This is a special affinity that grants Rowan double damage against undead, evil, or "dark- aligned" creatures. Excalibur's mere presence acts much like Gram does to dragons, placing the same effects on undead, evil, or "dark-aligned" creatures that Gram would on dragons. Additionally, Rowan deals extra damage to these types of enemies and is immune to their damage, seeing as his body is "Excalibur." Rank C
❖ Dimension Warping: Rowan possesses the innate ability to disrupt the flow of a dimension and bend space and time. This can be used to cause his sword to exist in multiple places at once. This is Rowan's first, and original ability that he achieved on his own. C Rank.
❖ Counter-Charge: Whenever magic is directed towards Rowan or Blake, or if Rowan simply touches magic and uses the ability, Rowan is capable of absorbing the attack into Excalibur instead. This gives the weapon one charge and negates the magic attack, spell, or whatever that was cast. Additionally, Blake is capable of spending one turn, a post, to charge Excalibur by one charge. Excalibur can hold a maximum of five charges. C Rank
❖ Crescent Slash: This move sends forth a radiant wave of energy that will scorch foes. This crescent wave appears to be composed of some kind of divine fire and glows bright white with a hue of gold around it. Undead, evil, dark-aligned creatures and dragons take twice as much damage, causing this attack to be treated as one rank higher. [Consumes one Excalibur Charge]C~B
❖ Armament Status: Rowan's body is now that of an Armament, thus making him incapable of being destroyed except by other Armaments or Legendary Creatures. He can still be incapacitated, but his body is virtually indestructible. B Rank
❖ Lion Heart: Lion Heart is a very special ability. By creating a close bond to someone akin to love, whether it is one-sided or not, Rowan can use this ability to "link" himself to this person. This effectively doubles the battle potential of that individual and gives Rowan a boost to all of his physical stats when fighting alongside this person. This can make ordinary people or Mageless Knights fight on the same level as Knights with Mages. Rowan can establish as many links as he wants, however, those people or him have to have some feeling of love in their relationship to one another, one-sided or not. B Rank
❖ Limitless: Due to being a Living Armament, Rowan does not have a limit on his body. Which means he can push his body far beyond its limits due to it being incapable of being destroyed. A Rank
❖ The Third Eye: This ability allows Rowan to see through the dimensions, allowing him to have insight on various aspects of the world without having to actually see them. This can manifest itself in various different ways. In a way, this ability gives Rowan a sixth sense in regards to the world. By using this sixth sense, he can feel what is going to happen before it does. This enables him to prevent sneak attacks, identify what is real and is not real, solve puzzles with little to no understanding of them originally, and prevents himself from being lost. These, however, are only a few of the ways this ability can benefit him. This is a list of examples where this ability would work:
- It allows him to feel when enemies are going to attack him, preventing sneak attacks from happening and countering hidden opponents. This includes invisible opponents and opponents that can completely erase their presence.
- It allows him to “see” weapons that are invisible or people that use feint attacks. If someone hides themselves in illusions, he can see through the illusion and know where the real person is.
- It allows him to know where people will attack at times and know what sort of attack will happen as the person is readying themselves. For example, he will know a dragon will breathe ice specifically when it gets ready to use its breath attack.
- If there are elements on the field that prevent anyone from seeing, Rowan can still “see” with this ability, allowing him to fight despite being blinded. This means that he cannot be hindered in battle by being deprived of any of his senses.
- He can sense the total number of creatures, enemies, and weapons that are around him, allowing him to gauge any situation that he may be walking into. This ability bypasses presence-concealing abilities, as it works as an instinct that he feels himself.
- It allows him to sense when there are traps, allowing him to avoid them. Additionally, if there is a puzzle that needs to be solved, Rowan will understand how to solve that puzzle without taking any time at all. He will instinctively pick the correct answers in riddles. Any trap or puzzle can be solved with ease.
- This ability lets him and the party avoid being lost, Rowan gaining insight that they are going to wrong way before they move too far to lose their way. B Rank
❖ Anti-Dragon Affinity [Negation]: Gram's properties give him an affinity towards dragons, negating all dragon-type magic, abilities, and various other weapons that deal with dragons. This includes dragon-based beings, and anything else considered to be a "dragon" in a sense. S Rank
❖ Absolute Shield, Avalon: Excalibur grants Rowan access to the legendary shield, Avalon. Avalon appears as a see-through, aura-like sigil that is gold and white when it is summoned. The "shield" is only considered to be so because it completely blocks whatever it comes into contact with, stopping all momentum and absorbing all damage that would be dealt. Additionally, it dissipates any spell that smashes into it as well, preventing any harm to those on the other side of it. To use Avalon, Rowan has to expend three of the charges on Excalibur, meaning he has to charge three times to even be able to deploy it. [Consumes three Excalibur Charges] S Rank
❖ Grand Schism: Excalibur's ultimate move is "Grand Schism." Immense amounts of "light" mana is focused into Excalibur, and then it is released all at once at the opponent(s). The attack is akin to being exposed to super-condensed solar energy. This attack burns away everything exposed to it and even scorches the earth should it get caught in the attack. [Consumes five Excalibur Charges] SS
Magus Abilities: (Name and Rank)
❖ Mana Transference: Mana can be freely transferred between Rowan and Blake due to their connection as Knight and Mage. D Rank
❖ Demonfire (Excalibur): Gram's properties mixed with Blake's mana, Rowan's affinities, and Excalbiur produces flames capable of burning almost anything to cinders. These flames are white in color and easily reach over ten-thousand degrees Celsius. Additionally, this fire can melt Armaments with prolonged exposure due to its Armament properties. This smelting takes three posts from Rowan to achieve. A Rank
❖ Ethereal Form: Due to his Alignment and Blake's abilities as a conjurer, Rowan can make his body ethereal and physical on whim. B Rank
Unison Abilities: (Include Description and Rank)
❖ Nightslayer: A mix between necromancy and soul eating magic, Nightslayer gives the blade of the wielder a purple hue and can cut through any magic and absorb any mana that it comes into contact with. It makes the blade ethereal, allowing it to pass through any object and eat away at any mana imbued within said object, person, or creature. It is nonlethal, but it usually leads to someones defeat. Additionally, the consumed mana is transferred back into the user, and thus his Mage. A Rank
❖ Dragon Slayer: Combining the mana from Blake with his own use of the Demonic Arm, Gram, Rowan can unleash a fury of blows from Balmung that number to more than a couple hundred in a split second, callously cutting down any foe that stands before the might of the legendary sword. The blade is enveloped in a flaming aura as he does this and its use is a mix of his Dimension Warping combined with the aforementioned components. SS Rank
❖ Demonic Eyes of Perception: Using Blake's mana and conjuring abilities, Rowan can enhance his eyes to let him see the dead, demonic, and all those with dark intent and alignment within his eyesight. Additionally, his perception of time is slowed in danger, he is capable of keeping up with high-speed battle, and at times he can even perceive an action before it happens based purely on instinct. C Rank
Relationships:
❖ Blake: She is the magus that put his life into the body he now inhabits. She is also his "Mage" and he has sworn to protect her even if it means his life, which counts for almost nothing considering he's dead. He views her very negatively and is disgruntled by her good will and the services she gives to families of the recently departed. Overall, he has a negative opinion of her despite the fact that she brought him back to life. Over time, however, he grew to care for her to such a great degree that he began to question his own intentions and feelings. Currently, he is confused about the strange feelings he experiences whenever she's near him, and he often sees her on television screens due to her immense popularity.
❖ Lucy: His former little sister, currently being taken care of by a young female minotaur. She was his pride and joy and he spent most of his life trying to provide for the spirited five-year-old. After his untimely death, he would watch the child from afar to make sure she had not fallen prey to the depressions of the world. To his relief, his former crush has taken care of the girl wonderfully and she is as chipper as she has ever been. Sadly, he wonders if anyone has told her of his fate yet. After "The Moment," he began to see a lot more of his sister, as she appeared alongside Blake on television quite a bit. It made him happy to see that she was still able to smile.
❖ Minotaur Princess (Leaving this name open for anyone who enjoys being a jerk to Mel.): She was the woman whom Rowan came to admire during his life as Ian Reignhart. She inspired him to become a Knight so he could fight by her side and she his Mage. The speeches she gave to the people of the mostly Fae-governed kingdom inspired him to enroll himself into the Academy and train to fight as a Knight one day. After his death, she brought his sister into her family by pure chance and began to raise her. He does not know if she informed Lucy that her brother has died or not.
❖ Natalia: Despite being the woman that killed him, Rowan decided to spare her life to reclaim his own humanity. Over the months that he spent with her and Blake, however, he because slightly caring for the woman, enough to try and save her when her existence was threatened due to the energy generated by "The Moment." Thus, it can at least be said that he was willing to give his life to save her for some strange reason.
Strengths:
✔ Superior Strength: Rowan's strength extends far beyond that of most Knights, allowing him to deal devastating attacks capable of pushing most foes back with ease. He has also displayed incredible destructive capabilities, able to lift and throw cars quite a distance.
✔ Indestructible (False): Rowan's body is indestructible to all modern weapons and most magical ones. The only things capable of damaging him are combat Armaments and Legendary creatures. Additionally, the armored parts of his body are only capable of being scratched by Sacred Armaments.
✔ Superior Agility: Rowan's agility is pushed far beyond the limits of most Knights, making him a difficult foe to face against in battle.
✔ Superior Speed: Rowan is faster than most Knights, reaching speeds that make him appear as a blur to almost anyone fighting him. Combined with his agility, this makes him a deadly opponent.
✔ Superior Reflexes: Rowan is capable of reacting to and participating in high-speed battle to a point that most Knights are incapable. His reflexes are sharp enough to be able to dodge a bullet just as it comes into sight.
✔ He is callous, merciless, and unforgiving. This allows very little chance for something to be pulled over on him. This heartless nature has prevented many from taking advantage of "good will" and killing him.
✔ As with all Knights, the mana in his body strengthens him to a great degree, and Blake's vast amounts of mana provide him quite the bit of extra strength.
✔ He specializes in fighting demons, ironically, which usually helps him get the drop on them with his sword.
✔ He lacks a fear of death, allowing him to accomplish tasks that most people would freeze in terror in the face of.
✔ Indomitable Will: He has a spirit much like a phoenix, one that will rise no matter how many times it falls. This is probably because of Blake's influence, but he prefers not to give her anything to smirk about.
✔ Terror of Dragons: Most dragons avoid him on principle, due to his possession of Gram. This is very convenient at times considering they are the most powerful creatures to exist.
✔ His battle perception due to his eyes gives him an increased advantaged against even other Knights. Fast-paced battles are nothing more than slow-motion scenes to him, providing him the proper time to adjust his actions.
✔ Increased Potential: Rowan's body has much potential to evolve into a higher being than that of a human. It has demonic genes that mutate and enhance him as time goes on.
✔ Unbreakable Loyalty: As long as he feels a need to protect his Mage, he will stand by Blake's side until the very end, making him one of the most loyal Knights one could ever find. Even if they have their differences, she gave him a chance to be what he always wished he was.
Weaknesses:
✘ His callous, cold nature often leads him into battle with others who find him "evil."
✘ His lack of fear in the face of death can often put him in very dangerous situations, sometimes even endangering those around him.
✘ He often holds back his strength since he does not want to look bad in front of his Mage.
✘ He keeps his distance from his Mage, often putting them at odds. It's often wondered what goes through his mind about her.
Likes:
✔ Lime-Flavored Water
✔ Sending little trinkets to his sister anonymously.
✔ Watching people being haunted and not telling them.
✔ The idea of being a Knight.
✔ Having a good rest at all hours of the day.
✔ Finding new and inventive ways to irritate Blake.
✔ Going around markets tasting various free foods.
✔ His demonic arm, its grown on him over time.
✔ Minotaur women, he finds them very attractive compared to most.
✔ Lucy, although he keeps his distance from her.
✔? His former Mage, maybe, she's irritatingly sweet towards other people. And a do-gooder.
✔ Strange skin tones, like blue or red. They're fascinating.
Dislikes:
✘ Blake: If there was one person he wished would fall from grace into a pit of debauchery it would be her. She's just a sad little Fae in his eyes.
✘ Do-gooders who do things with no expectations of getting things in return. A life of servitude like that is wasted.
✘ Being ordered around by others and viewed as a lesser in society due to his status as a Knight.
✘ Undead. After dealing with them for the small amount of time he has, he finds them greatly annoying and clingy.
✘ Living in the dominantly Fae-governed kingdom. Their attitude towards him is negative.
✘ Never being able to convey his feelings to the woman he formerly admired.
✘ Never being able to speak with his sister again.
✘ Watching his sister grow up without him in her life.
✘ The woman that killed him and threw him into the pit of despair he now wallows in.
✘ His primary use as a Knight being to follow around a Fae-girl and watch her commune with the dead and nothing else.
✘ Losing who he used to be, knowing what he was and realizing he can never go back.
✘ Having to abandon everything he once was to keep moving forward.
✘ Cheap Imitations
✘ People who refuse to believe there may be no chance to save someone.
✘ Those who think they can save everyone at the expense of others.
✘ A tomorrow that can't shine as bright as yesterday.
Personality:
❖ The simplest, easiest way to explain Rowan's personality is by using one word, aloof. Unfortunately, to simply refer to him as aloof would be quite the understatement, not to mention disrespectful. His personality is complex and layered quite a bit. In fact, some of his personality traits are completely faked in an attempt to hide his true attitude, and sometimes he says that certain attributes are fake when they are really his genuine personality. Overall, he is a very difficult person to figure out and he tends to confuse many people when they try to understand him. The general consensus is, however, that he is cold, uncaring, and a very distant person. He keeps everyone around him at arms length and even seems to be rather mean towards his Mage. He gives off the aura of someone dark and far more dangerous than he actually is. Some people have considered him a being out of his element, a resident that does not belong in his own city. Yet, he is far more complex than this.
For the most part, Rowan prefers to be by himself rather than around others. He enjoys the solitude that corners and empty bedrooms provide. They serve as a constant reminder that he does not need anything more than to live and that his life is a solitary one. To him, there is no happiness in his existence as a zombie nor a Knight, but simply an acceptance as a weapon meant to protect the one he is bonded with. He sees his ability to push his body past his limits as proof of this belief, showing that his consciousness is separate from his body. A weapon can be broken if pushed past its limits, and the same can be said about Rowan's body. In truth, however, he wants to believe that there is more to him than a weapon. Like his former dream, he wishes for the happiness of protecting someone and being rewarded with their affections and gratitude, to live a blessed life. After his rebirth, however, his views of the world and this dream corroded and became obscured. This led him away from his dream and towards a belief that he never wanted, a reality that he refused to believe in his first life. He wants to believe wholeheartedly that he is not a weapon, but he fails to see how he is not.
Due to this, he is cold and distant from other people, pushing them away and not letting them get close to him. Whether it be other Knights, civilians, or even Blake, he refuses to show tenderness around them or allow them to show him anything that resembles affection. The loss he had suffered months ago and his new existence have caused him to seclude himself from the luxuries of living beings. The dead should stay dead, and the living should keep themselves separate. His existence as a living-zombie is so contradictory to this fundamental idea that it has caused confusion even in his own mind. Thus, he shelves his personal feelings and wishes and simply keeps everyone away from him. The sole luxury he provides himself with is observing his little sister from afar, making sure she is raised properly. This is the one opening in his heart that he has left open. Becoming a Knight was supposed to be his one and only dream, but he circumstances that led to it forced a negative view of it into his mind. As such, Blake has been made to suffer by him because of his inability to get over his own tragedy and open himself back up to others.
His stance on others is cold and merciless, and he is often put at odds with Blake because of this. The tragedy of his death led him to adopt a new attitude towards battle, no mercy. By letting one's emotions get in the way and allowing an enemy to walk over their personal beliefs, a person allows themselves to be taken advantage of. While this has not made itself too apparent during their time together, it is obvious that if he and Blake were to fight on the front lines then it would be a bloodbath. This cold and merciless attitude has also bled into their everyday life, causing him to be very unlikely to go out of his way to help others. It has even caused him to view Blake negatively in regards to her services to families of the recently deceased, seeing her work as meaningless and simply catering to their fancies. In his eyes, people need to help themselves and grow to become stronger. Handing them the tools is much better than giving them the answers that they are craving. In fact, it seems like there is nothing that cracks away his hardened heart in regards to this.
In battle Rowan is.... frightening. Some might say that he resembles a demon, moving from one opponent to the next with little regard to what remains of the last. To quickly take out multiple enemies he sometimes will go for the most efficient ways to dispose of them rather than the merciful. This often leads to his enemies being dismembered and left to bleed out while he continues fighting rather than a quick, painless death. His heartless attitude in this regard has left a dark mark on his social status in the kingdom, leading many to wonder if he belongs there at all. Only Dark Fae seem to enjoy his company, and they are the only ones that attempt to make contact with him on a regular basis. His exploits out in the field have spread far and wide, leading him to be dubbed the "Cursed Man." As they describe, he is someone that will never find happiness and be cursed to slaughter all those that oppose his "master." Whether his "master" enjoys his actions or not, that is his cursed fate. Rowan, of course, pays this little mind, as he enjoys the solitude this brings him and the comfort of being left alone. At times, it even seems like he enjoys the chaos that he wreaks upon the battlefield.
History:
❖ Pre-Nevermore: A Tale of Knights
Rowan's first life was that of Ian Reignhart. A young boy from a rather middle-class family, Ian grew up without any siblings and alone for the most part. At the age of five, he discovered what he wanted to do in life. After watching a minotaur princess give a speech about standing up for their kingdom and fighting, he became infatuated with her and dreamt of becoming her Knight and protecting her. This fascination and dream spurred him to begin training to become a soldier from an early age, bringing some small joy to his parents. They were very accepting of his career choice and very happy that he discovered what he wanted to do at such a young age. Of course, they were also a bit skeptical of how willing he was to follow through with it, but he showed them how serious as time went on. By the age of twelve, he was enrolled within a military academy where he learned everything he needed to know to become a soldier. While there he made very few friends, but he had a reputation for being a rather laid-back guy. For the most part, he was an uninteresting human that seemed to be a good listener for others to tell their troubles to.
This was the life he lived for six years, training to become a soldier and eventually take on the role of someone's Knight. His dream shined brighter and brighter as he completed year after year of schooling. All the while he watched interviews, listened to commentaries, and kept up with the exploits of the princess he had become so infatuated with. By this time she had become an idol in his eyes, someone to admire and fawn over. Many of the other boys shared this admiration, but they found his determination to become her Knight a bit creepy, yet refreshing. Such an attitude was rare to see in anyone, and they often had fun jesting with him about it. It came as a pleasant surprise to him that their award for graduating from the Academy would be a medal given to them by the princess he admired. Just the idea of it sent him into daydreams at the time and caused him to plot out ways to ask to become her Knight as she awarded him his graduation medal. Sadly, when the day came, he found himself unable to speak a word to her. As such, he accepted the medal with a bow and walked off, frozen solid with embarrassment.
That day marked a descent that he never picked himself out of. Over the next seven years, he simply did standard military work and helped out with the locals. He actually made quite a name for himself as someone who was generally helpful towards others. Specifically, he met a young elf girl in her youth and often conversed with her and helped her when he could. Sometimes he would carry her groceries back home for her and at other times he would simply listen to the problems she was going through. He met her when he was twenty and she was twelve, the same age he was when he was just starting military training. Her youthful attitude often picked up his spirits and caused him to not give up hope that he would become a Knight. It was her friendship that helped push him along. Blake was probably his one and only friend that he ever made, and he hoped that his friendship with her helped her while she grew up. At the age of twenty-five, however, Ian discovered a tragedy that shocked him and filled him with sorrow.
After making a name for himself around the local area, he came to learn that his parents had passed away just after his mother gave birth to a baby girl named Lucy. Being the sole member of his family and a legal adult, he was given custody of the girl to raise on his own. Having a stable job and everything, this did not pose too much of a problem in terms of providing for the girl, but it did have an emotional toll on him. His neighbors and locals who cared for him often helped him take care of the girl when they could, watching over her while he worked. What really hurt him was the fact that his parents were gone and the fact his sister would never know them. Additionally, he was unable to spend time with Blake as often as before and this led to him not seeing her altogether anymore. The absence of his only true friend and having to raise his sister eventually caused him to finally give upon his dream of becoming a Knight. He would rather raise his sister so that she could have a better life than risk ruining it by chasing after a pipe dream.
Years went by and his sister began to grow up. She learned to walk, talk, read, and write. All the while she came to view him as her father rather than her brother, even referring to him as such despite the difference. While his dreams may have been shattered, his happiness was still there as he watched his sister grow up. It was almost sad to watch her age so quickly, to become five years old in such a short amount of time. Perhaps it was because he was so busy during this time that he found time passing by him, or maybe it was the loss of his dreams that caused such a feeling. Either way, he regretted not being able to cherish these moments while they lasted. Blake was no longer in his life at this point, a woman at this point, he had long-since stopped interacting with her. In fact, he had not seen her in five years. The thirty-year-old could not help but feel that he had lost many important things in the first three decades of his life. Those regrets, however, were buried under his duty and his hopes for the future of his little sister. He wanted her to become someone who did not harbor such regrets.
His death was swift, it came by so quick that he had no time to prepare for it. He was a soldier, so obviously he did not expect to live forever, but the way he died was so cruel and unexpected. He was sent with a platoon to scout out foreign territories. The kingdom believed that attacks were being orchestrated by these territories in an attempt to take them over. As such, they needed to learn whatever they could from them. Their platoon, however, was ambushed immediately upon leaving into the "neutral zone." A reconnaissance team had been expected by the enemy and they had sent a Knight in to take care of it. They were slaughtered in seconds. Dismembered, bled out, and gutted by their assailant. The woman mercilessly cut the damn, laughing the entire time as she carved through them like a knife through butter. The last image that Ian had of this woman was her holding one of his comrades' head above her and drinking the blood from it. Her eyes the turned towards him, the sole survivor, and he felt his flesh being torn from his shoulder down to his hip. And then he was split in half and died instantly. Apparently, all of their bodies and belongings were burned to ashes afterwards. Only metallic objects survived the encounter, one such being Ian's pendant that held a picture of his sister, which burned away, and a picture of Blake on the other side.
And then he was alive again, breathing, but different. His body was stronger and his senses were heightened beyond what they were before. He had been brought back to life as a zombie by someone, someone whom he had known in his previous life. Awaking in the world of the living, he quickly found himself staring down Blake, the very elf he had fell out of contact with. Their reunion was in his rebirth, and he felt some sense of great sorrow in it. His dreams, his body, his entire meaning was shattered, and she pieced him back together anyway despite this. Deciding against letting her know who he was, he kept the pendant close to him and decided to push her away and keep her at a distance. This tricked her into believing that her intended soul had not been resurrected, something that Ian was grateful for. She then gave him the name "Rowan" and made him her Knight. His cold demeanor and merciless attitude were formed to protect him, to keep the tragedy of his former life from repeating itself. Only his sister would continue to receive his warmth, but from a distance. He would send her objects and trinkets that he knew she would find amusement in. There was some sick irony in the fact that she was now being raised by his former crush, the woman who had inspired him to take up the dreams that led to his death. He resigned to it being some sick joke, however, and continued on with his new life.
Over time he came to dislike Blake's attitude and stance towards others, being kind and caring to them. These people had lost loved ones and needed to move on, not be reminded of them and speak to them every chance that they had. They were not moving on but living in the past and in pain. She would not listen to this though, as she was giving them a service that made them happy. Rowan felt it was sad and disturbing, however, and grew to dislike their line of work and the undead in general. Their situation, their former life, and his keeping his knowledge of her secret led to them coming into conflict many times as he began to take on the role of her Knight. It did not help that she never needed him for anything, merely having him around on the off-chance that she was in danger. Seeing himself as nothing more than a weapon, Rowan grew weary of this quickly and voiced his discontent constantly. Weapons were not left to rust, but were used and kept up so that they could cut down any potential foes. All he was to her was a glorified housekeeper, nothing more and nothing less. The mere thought of it still boils his blood.

❖ Witch Invasion Arc
Nonetheless, he continued to move forward. Day after day he proved himself in combat that he was capable of protecting the woman that had summoned him back to Terra. Eventually, he even met the person that had murdered him and succeeded in defeating her in combat. The dragon woman, Natalia, was then forced into servitude by him, becoming a maid for him and Blake. Humiliated, she would spend her days referring to them as "master" and abide by their whims, albeit they had very few ridiculous commands. This action of sparing her, however, resulted in an all-out invasion by witches who were bent on killing the wielder of Gram and exacting revenge. Unbeknownst to Rowan, he had set off the events that led to an all-out invasion by the newest and most powerful race of being to grace the land of Yainder. Traveling back to their home, Rowan and Blake began to bond as their captive complained about her new position in life.
Their reprieve did not last long after they spared Natalia. Cheyenne Trinity's home was the first target of the witches, swiftly being destroyed upon their return. This forced Blake and Natalia to purchase a small mansion for Blake and her family while Rowan began to express his regrets about being alive again. Out of frustration, he left Blake and began hunting dragons in the mountains of Yuki-no-Okoku. For over a month he did this, separated from his Magus and slowly whittling his body away after each battle. By the time Blake and Natalia had decided to search for him, they only found the zombie-like being that he had become over so many fights. Driven on instinct, he nearly killed Natalia before Blake managed to bring him back in to reality. With an air of awkwardness, the three of them returned to Blake's new lodgings within the capital of Carmillion. Named a duchess, Blake had transcended her parents' status due to her accomplishments as a Magus. Rowan, unfortunately, had difficulty adjusting to their new position in life upon their return.
While the witches found it difficult to assault the Trinity family again after their first attack, their war was no so stifled. They quickly conquered the areas surrounding the dead forest and slowly began to spread out across Yainder. The only thing that held them back was the change in landscape over so many years of earthquakes and shifts in terrains. Yuki-no-Okoku was relatively safe from them as well due to its unique placement and the natural barriers that made attacking them in their homeland nigh impossible. Abelid was quickly defeated, however, and suffered the wrath of the witches. Forced to join them in their battle, they marched as far as they could with them to fight against the combined forces of Carmillion and Eldrin. Given the level of the threat, Carmillion was forced to acknowledge Rowan as someone that was needed in their fight. The council of Carmillion sent a letter to the Trinity household asking them to bring Rowan in to meet with the person he would be fighting with alongside the combined armies.
Upon Blake and Rowan's arrival, they were met with a similar duo to themselves. It was a young man with a demon girl as his knight. Confused about why the four of them were called to face the Council, their roles were soon revealed. Rowan and this girl were the only two beings in Yainder that currently held that status of "Slayers." Rowan possessed the Genocidal Weapon and the girl possessed the Unforgivable Spear. Both weapons were near taboo to mention among peers, and most people viewed these two Armaments as the most despicable of items. That was why the council of Carmillion was hesitant to even call upon them. After being debriefed, they learned that most Knight-Mage pairs would be participating in the battle itself. The two of them, however, would lead two small factions to fight off the witches that were going to cast a massive destruction spell on all of Yainder. Feeling the gravity of the situation, the two of them agreed to fighting alongside each other in order to bring down the witches.

❖ The Moment
Their assault culminated in the event that was known as "The Moment." During the large-scale war, Rowan's faction had managed to find their way onto the giant magical circle known as the "Rune Map." Despite their weariness, his group engaged in battle with two of the witch leaders while the wielder of the Unforgivable Spear attacked the outer rings of the circle to keep the witches from converging on them all. Despite their best efforts, the "Rune Map" was activated and began the large-scale spell that caused "The Moment" to occur. Natalia was almost completely enveloped by the magical energy that was generated to execute the spell that caused "The Moment." Rowan, however, used Nightslayer in an attempt to keep Natalia safe from being eradicated by the merging of the worlds. His ability left a scar that continued to absorb the magical energy, preventing it from enveloping the dragon-kin and thus saving her life. Unfortunately, that also meant that he was right in front of the blast when it occurred, and his body was swallowed whole by the massive amount of energy battering against him.
Being caught in "The Moment," Rowan's destiny was to be erased entirely, much like those around him that were caught in the blast. Gram, however, prevented his destruction by evolving into the final stage of an Armament, a Sacred Armament. The final stage for parasite-type Armaments is to fully merge with their wielder, thus making the wielder nothing more than a Living Armament, a weapon meant to be used. This act made his body indestructible to the power used to merge the two worlds, and he soon found himself waking up in the middle of Shibuya. Confused at first, he moved about this new world in a very instinctual fashion. Those that showed a threatening attitude were crushed, and those that seemed curious were pushed away and avoided. He switched to being nocturnal in an attempt to hide from the world while he gathered intelligence on Earth. Eventually, however, his actions lead to him becoming an urban legend "The Delinquent of Shibuya." Three months after the events of "The Moment," he had gathered a large amount of information about the world. Figuring it would be best to remain in the shadows, Rowan decided to keep his distance from Blake.
