History
Isolated from their own nation, the former residents of Carmillion who did not agree with hierarchy migrated to the south centuries ago, wanting to form a nation on the basis of what they believed Carmillion was supposed to be founded on. They constructed a fair and decent hierarchy that was focused more on the individual than on their origin's or what they were to society. If a man made a lot of money or was valuable to society then he was regarded as someone above the average man, but still not above anyone in particular at the same time. Everyone was viewed as equal, but over time that came to become slightly corrupted. The hierarchy of modern Eldrin is mostly dictated by the worth of a person or how much they make compared to other people. Those with much money are considered to be like royalty and should be treated as such by those around them. Those with great strength and power should be regarded as heroes and taken care of by their fellow men and women, that was simply how it was in this day and age.
Eldrin, which focused on architecture much like South America, quickly became a militaristic country, focusing all of its efforts on building armies and trying to produce the strongest men and women in the land. Its hope was to match Carmillion's proficiency in producing Mages with a proficiency in producing Knights. They were very successful. While particularly powerful users of magic were rare in Eldrin, they managed to produce the strongest of Knights, many of them being written down in history as legends of the centuries. The vast military power of Eldrin was also a force to be reckoned with, quickly becoming a powerhouse that protected not only itself but Carmillion as well. Their alliance with them was formed on the basis of showing them how flawed their hierarchy was, something that had gradually changed over the centuries of being protected by Eldrin. They could never truly change the opinion of the residents of Carmillion, but the Eldrinians always knew that with enough time their influence would shape it in a positive way.
Knights were valuable, their protectors, and their heroes. Mages as well, and these two types of individuals were, and still are, recognized as the most valuable citizens within the walls of the Eldrin nation.
