Hyperborea walked down the street lost in random thoughts on the war when she felt the pure ping of another transcended knight nearby. However it also had the feel of a polaris knight. She wondered who it could be. She decided to make her way towards it.
She was surprised to find a knight she had meet before now glowing with the marks of transcendence etched into his skin. Still this was good news, another knight was now completely protected from the threat of corruption.
"Bonsior Monsieur Whisler." She said to him.

Whisler had felt another knight nearby, but he hadn’t thought to really speak to them. No, he was still sort of kind of in isolation mode, though he never minded talking to those he knew, and when a voice called out his name, he paused.
Well, maybe this was someone he knew.
He blinked in surprise when it was that short little cosmos knight…hyp…hyppo? Hyper? Whatever her name was. He smiled. “Hey there. It’s been a while, how have you been, kid? Doing okay?” the knight held up a hand in greeting and then gave a rueful look. “I’m afraid I can’t…quite remember what your name was. Hyper something I think. Also, I want to apologize if I was rude the last time we spoke, I uh…I wasn’t feeling quite myself at all…but I think I might be better now, so…that’s a good thing.”
With another apologetic look, Whisler rubbed idly at the glowing snowflakes that were on his hand. It was still something awkward to get used to…but hey. This girl glowed too, and that pretty purple one did. Glowing seemed to be all the rage now, so why not embrace it. It wasn’t like he had anything to lose by embracing it. Not anymore, at least.

"It's alright, Hyperborea of Cosmos." She reintroduced herself with a smile. She was just good with remembering names so she didn't hold it against anyone if they forgot her's.
"I've been...ok." She said after a moment of remembering the fights she had had since they last talked. She absent mindly rubbed her shoulder which had been broken in her fight with Painite. She also thought about how bruised and sore she was after her bout with Xenotime, though at least with that one she had managed to fight to a stalemate with the general. She also thought of poor Evan who had been turned into yoma. But she didn't want to burden someone she only just knew with bad news. "How about you?"
"Oh it's ok, I'm sure you had alot on your mind. I'm glad you're feeling better now." She said with a friendly smile.
"Congratulations on your transcendence by the way." She said nodding to the other's glowing marks.

“That’s right. Hyperborea!” Whisler tried to make a mental note of it, and nodded. “Okay is better than awful…I suppose I’ve been okay too. Had a few…uh…issues, but I think those have pretty much been taken care of.” He shrugged and blinked when she mentioned his transcendence.
“Oh, yeah…thanks for noticing. I think it might have been an accident, but I’m not…I’m not unhappy with the result…”
The knight shrugged again. He didn’t really want to go into detail of what had happened…but at the same time…
“What does it even mean? I mean, there I was…uh…trying to um. Well, trying to go back to the Negaverse…the damn General King had his hand in my chest…and I could feel it and then…I start glowing and suddenly they’re trying to kill me and I didn’t even know what was going on or what happened or why it happened..” He paused and looked away, shrugging again.
“But I’m not unhappy. Don’t take that the wrong way. I’m not unhappy.” He just…wasn’t entirely happy either.

"That's good at least." She said happy to know nothing was going wrong for the knight of Polaris.
"I think in a lot of cases it is, or at least its unplanned. I transcended when I was just trying to fix part of my wonder and I know another who transcended when he stuffed his ancestor's starseed into his chest." She explained.
Hyperborea bit her lip at his next statement, she wanted to yell at him, tell him how stupid an idea that was and how lucky he was that his wonder saved him. But she held her tongue, he didn't need a lecture from her and the point was moot anyways since he could no longer be corrupted even if he wanted to.
"It's a promise, a bond between you and your wonder that is unbreakable. Your wonder is now protecting your starseed, it can't be pulled nor can it be corrupted and you should be able to give people some of your energy to help ease the pain of a wound and accelerate their healing. As for why it happened, that's hard to say but clearly your wonder cares for you greatly and wanted to keep you from corruption." She tried to explain it but in all honesty she barely understood it herself.
"That's good though you don't seem satisfied either." She said with a soft frown. "If you don't mind me asking why did you want to corrupt in the first place? Oh but if you're uncomfortable talking about it you don't have to tell me."

Whisler shrugged. Honestly, the explination of how and why he started glowing didn’t really interest him…even though it did. His emotions were complicated right now, that was all.
“I mean. I had been with them before. And I guess…every part of me was telling me to go back. To go home. I…I guess the taste of chaos from helping that thing…the code or whatever…I guess it really made me want it.” And Ashanites body. That had made him want a lot of things, but that was a completely different story, and not one fit for the ears of this child.
The knight shrugged again, rubbing idly at one of the snowflakes on the back of his hand. “It’s all so hard to explain. And you, you seem like such a force for good, I can’t really expect you to understand anyway.”

"Is that how I seem?" She said looking at her feet unsure how to feel about it. "I appreciate that sentiment but I have as much potential for darkness as anyone else."
"I have memories, memories of a future that was once possible. I was older and I corrupted in that future. I willingly gave myself over to a Negaverse princess. I'm sort of fuzzy on the details but I remember being so angry and bitter, I had devoted years of my life to fighting and lost so many people I loved to the war and yet order was still losing. I broke after a point, I decided if I couldn't save the world as a Knight then I would remake it as a General so I decided to betray order. I became a cold killer with my only goal being to serve my princess and the Negaverse." She said in a soft voice. She wasn't sure why but she felt like it was only right to confess her own dark future if he was willing to explain his past.
"I'm not going to pretend like its the same, and I can't understand the position you're in. But I do at least know the call of chaos, I don't approve of giving in but I do get why you would be tempted." She said. "Sorry, that probably doesn't mean much coming from me."

Whisler shrugged. “I mean, I had memories like that too. Only I was like I am now. Glowing…so I guess…I really…” He shrugged again, words failing him. The very thoughts he was going to try to express failing him.
Finally the knight sighed and looked away. “I think it’s hard. I think it’s really hard to follow the right path…and I think it’s even harder to discover just what the right path is. You seem like you really have a good head on your shoulders. I’m impressed, to be honest…and perhaps a little intimidated by that. It really…sucks I guess.” He allowed himself a rather sheepish grin. “It sucks that a kid is more sure of what she wants than I am. Or, you’re just more set in your beliefs. I don’t know. You’re kind of annoying, Hyperborea, but pretty cool as well.”
Whisler gave another little grin and shrugged again.
It really did suck being morally bested by a kid.

Hyperborea blushed at the knight's compliment. "You're too kind. I just try my best to make the world a place I can be happy to live in, a world that people don't have to be sad or lost in." She said with a small grin.
"My grandpa used to tell me 'Si la montagne ne va pas à Mahomet, Mahomet ira à la montagne.' It means 'If you cannot get what you want, you must adapt yourself to the circumstances or adopt a different approach.'" She said looking over at the glowing knight.
"I hope I'm not being presumptuous but I'm trying to put together a team of knights, a team dedicated to restoring the wonders to what they once were and to bringing peace to Earth. Would consider joining, perhaps you can find your resolve through a team." She offered hoping she wouldn't offend the knight of Polaris.

A team? Well…he wasn’t much of a team guy but…but maybe. Maybe it would be good for him. Maybe for a while, at least. He nodded. “Yeah okay. I mean, I don’t know if I’m really all that great of a team player, but I’m willing to try…I think I could use some positive influences in my life right now. So…yeah. I’m interested in your team. Count me in, kid.”
Whisler ran a hand through his long hair, and finally held his hand out to the cosmos knight. “Thank you, thank you for just…believing in people. I think that really makes a difference to people. And it makes a difference to me, so…thank you.”
A team, hm? This would be interesting. It would be something to get his mind off of other things…like relationship issues. And Ashanite.

Hyperborea smiled brightly as she took the hand in her own and shook it. "Thank you for taking a chance on this. Welcome Whisler of Polaris to the Heralds of Peace."
"If you ever have need simply call me and I'll come running." She promised.
