They'd stepped out like they were going for a stroll. Alg had a leather bag slung across his shoulder, and both men were holding umbrellas in the hands that weren't clasped with one another. They certainly looked to be dressed unseasonably warm, but at the same time for Algie and Jeremiah it wasn't odd or worth questioning.

There was anxiety swirling in Algie's gut and it was only Jeremiah's solid grip on his hand that kept an anxious tremor from his own. After what had happened, after Michael's body being found and everything after, they only thing they didn't question was this- them together, trying to unravel things.

The stroll took them around a corner until Jeremiah's gifted eyesight caught a glimpse of an entrance and within moments both men were standing in the chill drizzle of other ashdown.

Alg let out a breath he didn't know what he was holding. The tension still knit in his chest, more so now than it ever had before coming here. His glasses were already misting over to he had to pause to open his own tartan umbrella and wipe his lenses gently on a cloth from his pocket before grasping for Jeremiah's free hand again.

"S'pose it's the logical place to start looking for information-" He glanced around, finding them not far from where they began, which meant the otherworld was being kind to them today it seemed. There also weren't any sinister figures with giant choking hands- and equally no were-people or roaming mysterious animals waiting for them.

There was some level of picking your way through ruins sometimes, and the building beside them was near crumbling.

"So master magician," he glanced up at Jeremiah and tilted his umbrella better to see him and give his lover a smirk, "Give me some magical pointers or show off for me."

Algie made a noise at the pinch, mostly because it was his tickle spot, and then chuckled as he attempted a pinch of his own in revenge. But between danger-sense and Jeremiah's touch hide now, he didn't have much hope of making an impact.

"Because you like my cheek. And it's never stopped rewards before." Smirky b*****d.

Alg watched, not really sure what he was waiting for until Jeremiah breathed, and his eyes got wider. He was equally impressed as he was touched because he knew exactly what sort of flower it was. He spent a good chunk of his childhood working in his mother's garden as a Mother's Day gift.

"It's lovely Jeremiah.." Alg said with a soft crooked smile. His ears and cheeks were a bit pink, and he reached but seemed reluctant to touch the flower. His warm hands would probably not hold onto the ice for long.

But now he also wanted to know how to do it..

Alg took the flower in his hands, not used to having ice sit in his hands without immediately melting. He first response to Jeremiah's mention of being cold was cheesy, so instead of saying 'I'll keep you warm', he simply reached for the other's hand with his free warm one.

"Explain it to me. Visualization you said?" Because Jeremiah didn't speak when he did it.

Alg nodded. He could certainly try it now but he was the type of person who suffered a bit of performance anxiety. He didn't like messing up or doing things wrong. He didn't handle things that could be viewed as embarrassing very well. Algernon was stubborn which when combined with bad self esteem didn't often benefit him.

And it also prevented him from trying new things.

"Memories are obviously not my strong point, though I do think in imagery.." His whole writing process and style relied heavily on his descriptive capabilities. "I um.." His hand held up momentarily holding the flower, "Don't know what to do."

Alg went a bit pink eared, having Jeremiah wrapped around him and whispering in his ear. Alg huffed a small laugh, a sure sign he was uneasy trying, "Not sure this is good for my concentration, love-"

Still he had to get over himself at some point, especially with Jeremiah. It wasn't like the other would make fun of him for failing and in his mind it was a known fact that the other man was clearly better at everything than him (he'd always felt that way since childhood - Jeremiah on a pedestal). He really just needed to believe, even if only for the sake that someone else did.

Alg took a breath past the nervous lump in his chest and closed his eyes. The cool water from the rose seemed to dominate his mind .

"Remember in the summer when we were younger, we'd play football on your lawn and then when it rained we'd run off into the grounds because your mum would fuss like we'd die and your da just hated us hanging around-" He could remember the grass, the smell of rain, chilly clothes clinging to skin, "And you always ribbed me for liking the hot summer thunderstorms - the noisier the better..."

Alg cupped his hands over the cool water, concentrating on the memory, reliving it, humidity and damp clinging and the rolling thunder with the electrifying crack of distant lightning.

When Alg, eyes and thoughts intent again, he pulled his hands apart the air between them seemed to shimmer with heat and the cool water seemed to evaporate and rise in miniature, into a tiny dark crackling storm cloud.

Except of course as soon as he took his mind from it, the heat shimmered away and the cloud dispersed into mist and then nothing. The lightning wasn't even a spark. Alg let out a huff of breath. It would be hard to focus and maintain for him..

"So hypothetically we could recite Star wars lines, tie them to certain movements and intentions," He turned in Jeremiah's arms and flicked his wet hand out away from them, "And have a sith lightning fight?"
