So uh
I'm 18. I turn 19 on Wednesday. I lost my virginity towards the end of May, and long story short my period is several days late.
We used condoms, but I happened to be off birth control that month. I'm still currently off BC (I have to wait for my next period to take it again).
This is really freaking me out because I haven't been late since I started my period. It's like clockwork, even when I wasn't on BC. For it to be late all of sudden is strange and frightening. I haven't taken a test yet because I don't have the time or the money.
I'm really just looking for some support and some comfort. I can't take care of a child. I'm in school and poor and my boyfriend lives 1500 miles away and is also in school. It's not like either one of us can drop everything to deal with this. I'm living alone right now. None of my roommates has moved in yet, and I don't have any friends in town, so if this is really happening I'll be dealing with it all alone, and I'm completely not ready for that.

It's perfectly natural to be late on your period. Try to distract yourself while the time goes by. See if there are any activities your school is putting on and meet someone there. Do you have any hobbies? Work on those and/or something you've been putting off for a while (dishes, laundry, etc.).
If a couple more days pass and you haven't had it yet, I would suggest calling a family doctor for suggestions. Or better yet, contact the doctor who prescribed you the BC and see if there is anything you can do for a temporary fix between now and your next cycle.
*hug* Hang in there girl~

Stress can often mess with your period as well. For instance -- my hormones are so off that I usually only have 2-3 a year and that is without birth control or any hormone treatment.
Lately, in the past 6 weeks I have had 4 week-long periods because my hormones are trying to get right, talk about overkill.
A late period, or even no period at all can be completely normal. A lot of times we get scared over nothing!

Thank you. I've been focusing mostly on working and planning for my birthday. Thank you so much for the advice and suggestions. When (hopefully not if) my period comes, I'll probably be the happiest I've ever been to deal with it.

In these kind of cases I always recommend just taking a walmart pregnancy test. Sometimes the stress and worry of not having your period is what's keeping your period at bay. That's how it worked for me. I would take a pregnancy test and see that it's negative and be SO RELIEVED that the next day there she was.

Thats no fun -huggles- <333 im sorry
Id say, go get a test to make yourself feel better. but aside from that, dont worry. worry wont help anything and im sure that worry is what really the issue here. bodies are fickle things after all. 3nodding
Also, you can start birth control early. most doctors just recommend starting on your period so you dont mess up your natural cycle. but it wont be any less effective if you start earlier. maybe consider one of the implant versions? they are less of a hassle and not nearly as bad as people think they are. lol

It came back negative, much to my relief, and lo and behold, my period started this afternoon. Thank you everyone for your support and advice, I can't tell you how much it helped me.

I'm on birth control to control my periods, have no had sex in months, but I still love taking pregnancy tests. Just seeing that little negative is like Christmas to me. Have a bad day? Take a test. Mad? Take a test. LOL
