WHO: Cruz, Aadi, Justin WHEN: Mid-June, a weekend afternoon WHERE: Gambino, Justin and Aadi's home WEATHER: Summer sun, but with some cloud cover and a nice breeze
------
It had been only a few days after they all scoured for misplaced essences that Cruz checked in with Justin. The croc made sure his friend and, hopefully, friend-to-be were still in one piece and, to lighten the situation, he regaled Justin with the ballad of the poop that didn't stink. He attempted to grease the wheels, as well, on some kind of visitation -- both to catch up as well as meet the new frei -- but circumstances were difficult between them both needing some time to recuperate first, job schedule, and some other plans Cruz had. It was touch and go for quite a while, which disappointed Cruz, but he was no less persistent.
Finally they settled on a weekend that was free for the both of them, though unfortunately it was a weekend that Anita worked so he couldn't try to drag her along with him. His new phone's GPS let him navigate easily between floating and catching a short bus ride. Before long, a line of row houses was in sight and Cruz triple checked the number Justin gave him before knocking with barely hidden excitement. Not only would this be his first meeting with Aadi but it would also be the first time he visited Justin's home.

To say Aadhira had been bored would only be the understatement of the century, he thought dramatically, flopping his ribbon across the couch. Justin was playing some sort of video game - it involved tiny knights whacking things. Aadhira sighed. The scene was a very typical day for them, except for one thing. Cruz was coming over and no one (aka Justin) had told Aadi. He poked a finger through a hole in the t-shirt he was wearing. The doorbell rang. "Don't die for me?" Justin said, tossing the controller to Aadi as he got up to get it. Justin circled around the sofa to answer the door. "Hey! How've you been?" His animated voice went in one of Aadi's ears and out the other.

The prompt answer allowed Cruz to grin easily. It had been too long since he really got a good look at Justin's face, considering the cherry blossom viewing event was so short lived before it all went straight to hell. All things considered, he looked pretty good -- and Cruz looked much the same.
"Been good," Cruz confirmed with a jovial rumble in his throat. His voice was a touch deeper since gaining a full torso but the difference was only really detectable when he made low sounds. "You, too?" He tucked his phone away and placed a hand to the door frame. A bit rudely, the croc glanced behind Justin into the foyer as though he expected to see the younger raevan close behind but there was no such luck. "And him?"

"You're still looking great, Cruz." Justin gestured to the raevan's torso. He'd seen it, but it was still... it was like watching a kiddo go to high school when he could've sworn they were only thirteen! Justin grinned and leaned in to give his friend a peck on the cheek. "Come on it and you can meet him, okay?"
This statement was met with the crash of a controller hitting the floor and a slammed door.
Aadhira breathed deeply, back resting against the door. Meet someone? Like this? He was wearing a ratty t-shirt, his hair wasn't brushed and neither were his teeth. What was Justin thinking?! His ribbon coiled tightly underneath him. Oh s**t, he'd just run like a silly ninny. Aadi groaned and then floated towards his closet.
In the hallway, Justin simply blinked. "Well, um, I'm... sure he'll be right back out. Wanna help me rescue a princess while we wait?"

The croc couldn't help but float a little higher at the compliment. He straightened his shoulders and put the full length of his torso on display. Shirts that showed his tummy were all too common now, but especially in the midst of Gambino's summer heat.
"Thank you." A small peck to Cruz's cheek was all too welcome; he leaned in slightly to receive it and rumbled appreciatively. His eyes brightened at the offer, which then opened wide with a start. The crash, the sudden movements -- even though there were no feet to stomp up the stairs the ferocity was there in spirit -- and the slam of the door all sent the sigel reeling with concern.
Cruz stared at Justin dumbly and blinked as well. "Uh... okay." He supposed this was normal, by his friend's reaction to it. Justin's next offer managed to lighten Cruz up a bit and he smiled. "Sure. What game?" He crossed the threshold inside.

"Uh," Justin said awkwardly, scrolling through his arcade games for Castle Crashers. He had just realized his error. "Please don't think too badly of him. I... I forgot to tell him you were coming and he get nervous. Well, not nervous, but he wasn't prepared." He handed Cruz one of the controllers. They kept four by the systems, in case they had company. Usually, it was just Justin and Aadi playing games until Aadi got bored of it. Justin had noticed the frei had a relatively short attention span. In his room, Aadhira breathed deeply and immediately slapped his hand against his head. He'd panicked and, because of that, projected a terrible first impression. Quickly, he re-dressed, dragging a brush through his hair and plaiting it neatly off to one side. He discarded the idea of adding ornament to his hair. He didn't want to look as though he was trying too hard. But at least his appearance was neater and his clothing didn't have any holes and wasn't just one of Justin's cast-offs. With a deep breath, he opened his door softly. A short time later, he reached for a controller and sat next to Cruz. "Hello, I'm Aadhira. Sorry about that - no one told me we'd be having company." He grinned at the other raeven, noting his substantial midsection.

"Oh," Cruz winced through his smile, just as awkwardly, "Oops." The croc wasn't one to think badly of... well, anyone, really -- at least not from awkward first impressions. Justin's explanation made sense and, while he did feel bad for startling the younger frei, at least the situation wasn't any worse than that.
Cruz settled on the couch, controller in hand, and smiled curiously up at the approaching raevan when he finally retreated from his room. Aadhira's coloration was nothing short of gorgeous and Cruz especially found himself struck by the glowing freckles sprinkled about his dark skin. "Hello," the croc returned pleasantly. He offered a hand to Aadi in greeting but politely made no further attempt at contact, which left the peacock raevan free to decline. "It's okay," he assured Aadi with a low rumble of a laugh, "sorry for spooking you. I'm Cruz. S'really nice to see you. You look nice."
The fact he had picked up a controller as well hadn't been missed and, with a friendly grin, he nodded to it. "Gonna rescue a princess with us?"
