      █║ WHO: Zul, Zurine
      █║ WHEN: Evening
█║ WHERE: The streets of Gambino
      █║ WEATHER: Cooling down nicely

He'd gone to Gambino with the intent to find Alex and talk to her - to break their year of silence, to possibly take her to the bakery. Instead, he'd found a surprised Neil, who had explained the woman was gone on work for three more days, and invited the demon in to talk a little. The day had given way to the evening before Zul had even realized it and, despite having reconnected with a dear friend, he left the house as troubled as he'd arrived. Once, it had been unthinkable that Alex would be gone for a handful of hours without making sure he knew. That was a lifetime ago, it seemed, but he still hadn't quite come to terms with it.

The Sigel was making strides in connecting with people he'd thought he'd never see again - his own doing, mostly - but the root of his problem was still her. She'd invited him back into her life but he'd resisted, and now...

Zul ran his hands over his face, along the lines of his goatee, looking around dimly as he floated through streets that were both familiar and alien at the same time. Things had changed in a year. New stores, new offices, more tourists - less a sense of home. And as he made his way down the sidewalk, he spotted something that was both familiar and different at the same time.

A shade of blue he'd never forget. A body longer than last he'd seen her.

Zurine.

Surprise lit his features, and quickly on the heels of it, disbelief lit with exuberance. She was a Sigel, she'd grown, and for all he associated that with -- it meant she was doing well. Thank goodness. The demon had half a mind to veer down a different street so she wouldn't see him, but the other half - the one that begged to reassociate with what was important in his life - whispered that new connections were just as important as the familiar ones. Zul found the idea comforting, and before he could let the uncertainty gnaw at his decision, he matched her pace from behind and came to her side, hands clasped behind his back.

"You look phenomenal, Zurine," he offered by way of greeting, the smile he wore easily reaching his eyes as he better took her changed visage in. "Hello, my friend. It's been a while."

After a long day, nothing was quite so relaxing and pleasant as the walk home from her yoga class, after the work of the day and the settling, calming influence of yoga. Things were going well for Zurine today -- work had been easy, yoga had been fun, and before she was accosted she had her head down, typing on her cellphone. She was wearing a neon-pink windbreaker, and under it a pretty, streamlined blue workout top; her hair had been braided into a messy halo of soft blue, and she was humming to herself as she texted. Her friends had offered her a ride home, but with the cool of the evening settling in and bringing the sea breeze in from the beach, Zuri was glad to be able to be outside. It hadn't been so long since even this relatively cool summer evening would have been incredibly uncomfortable, and now she was able to enjoy it.

She was taken from her simple thoughts of appreciation by the sound of Zul's voice. Zurine looked up from her phone at him, and her eyes brightened with delight as she straightened up, turning to face him. A genuine smile curved her lips. "Zul...! Oh, hi!" Her enthusiasm was bright as she tucked her phone into the pocket of her windbreaker. "It's been forever -- t-thank you, though, you're too kind." She couldn't resist doing a little twirl, as if to show off her growth. "You look as if you've been well, too...! What have you been up to?" Her delight chilled the air around her as she looked him up and down. It had been a long while since she'd seen him -- more than a year, if she recalled right, and she was glad to get the chance now.

In response to her chilled joy, his own body temperature dropped, aiding in the cooling of their immediate vicinity. "It feels like it's been a lifetime," Zul tipped his head, quirking his lips in an agreeable smile. "Are you on the way somewhere or leaving?" He didn't want to interrupt, but if she'd have him, he wanted to try and 'walk' her there or home - whichever place she was going. It wasn't often he ran into his friends outside of scheduled meetings, and for this, he was counting it as a blessing.

"Working," the word was said in a way that sounded exasperated and droll, "reacquainting myself with those I've lost touch with. So this is -- fortunate." He cast her another smile, warm, his eyes resting in crescent moons. "You've been well? Sigeldom looks wonderful on you. Very elegant, very sophisticated."

"I'm on my way home from an exercise class after my own work," Zuri said with a laugh, enjoying the pleasant drop of the temperature on her workout-flushed skin, unable to resist a pleased little shiver and fluff of wings. "So you have caught me at my least elegant, I'm afraid! But thank you for your kind words."

She laughed and tucked a stray strand of hair back into the braid, slightly self-conscious. "Here, walk with me awhile! It is so good to see you! What is it you do for work? I have been so wrapped up in my own life, good and bad, that I feel I've lost track of so many of my friends!" Her tone was sweet, her expression welcoming without reservation, as if they had been best of friends for years, and her dark eyes sparkled with interest.

The demon scoffed softly. "Zurine, forgive me, but I can't believe you to ever be any less than elegant. If this is you lacking, I'm not sure I could find the words to encapsulate you at your finest." Zul fell into pace with her easily, casting her another smile. There was an odd and easy sort of familiarity between them, and though he couldn't possibly say why, he wasn't going to question it.

"I can empathize," his smile became a touch more rueful then, but still held its warmth, "First I helped in a glass creations business, then construction, and now I work for myself. In contracts." Zul watched her out of the corner of his eye; it was the first time he'd admitted it out loud to anyone other than his two, as not even Cesc nor Alex had been told. "It keeps me in balance, I can't complain. But you! You exercise?" Interest arched a brow. "What brought that on?"
