The bluejay didn't exactly let himself in to the salon, but there was so hesitation in his path as he flew in just as a customer was leaving. The bird had been seen around the business district of town fairly often lately, notable for his boldness in both color and demeanor, not at all afraid of humans as it swept down to pilfer bits of trash and unattended shinies. There'd been no mention of it entering stores before, but there were many, many shiny items in the salon. In particular, the bird seemed intent on a tiny pair of scissors until he noticed himself in the mirror and began to inspect the reflection and proceed to preen shamelessly. moonstone dazzle Ahhh ~ ! One client up, one client down. Autumn was counting over her tips, mentally budgeting out what she was going to do for groceries and whatever for the week. The good news was, her regulars were generous now. Really, really generous. Apparently, dedication to the job paid off. Who knew?
Thumbing over a little bit of cash, Autumn almost missed the bluejay flying into the salon. Almost. Her eyebrows raised up, regarding the bird now on her station. That was new. But then again, it was Ashdown. A bluejay flying into the salon wasn't the weirdest s**t she'd dealt with.
Hell, at least she could talk to it.
"Hey there, buddy!" She started, just the slightest hint of a smirk on her lips. Who'dve thought talking to birds would actually be useful?
"What're you doin' in here? Not after a feathercut, are you?"

Pausing in his admiration, the bird stared at her for a long, long moment before deliberately turning to peck at the scissors. "This is mine." The bluejay's expression was the sort that was sort of permanently stern no matter what. Resting bitchface as it were. He then turned back to the woman and informed her further, "I am Mr. Bitterberry. I am a wizard and also A Handsome." A pause, and then... "You're welcome."

Despite the stern look of the bluejay, Autumn was nothing but amused. She fought hard to keep from outright grinning at his attitude, instead placating his oh-so-serious nature with a bemused smile. Her arms went from her sides to being folded in front of her, and she cocked her head at the bird.
"Uh-huh. Those are a little big and a little sharp for you, Mr. Bitterberry. Can I give you something else instead?" No need to fight with a bird at work, of all places. And hell, redirection had worked with all the crows. A bluejay would be similar, right? Something about smart birds, similar families and all that noise.
"It's very nice to meet you, Mr. Bitterberry. You are very handsome," she replied. "I'm Autumn Smith. Just call me Autumn."lizbot SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG my rp muse just rolled over and died this week, ugh.

"Aw Tum." Mr. Bitterberry pecked at the counter in a greeting nod. "Aw Tum. What else? Trades." The bluejay inspected the human, the hair tools, the tidy garbage bin just barely in sight. He moved quickly in little hops and dips, but then it paused, frozen, and gazed at her. There's something odd about the bird, even as it goes on its business of seeking out a suitable exchange. Are their eyes normally that light? moonstone dazzle ITS OKAY ~ THIS WEEK I HAD QUEST TUNNEL VISION AHAHA

How absolutely adorable. Autumn watched in amusement as the jay worked through her name (did birds not have the seasons named like they did? She was gonna have to ask Russel), and as it continued to titter around her workplace. When it stopped and turned to her, she was struck by the most peculiar feeling. Even when Mr. Bitterberry hopped away, Autumn blinked, trying to get a grasp on just what the feeling was.
"You have beautiful eyes, Mr. Bitterberry," She told him, keeping an eye on her more valuable items. And her dangerous ones. Wouldn't want any bird getting a hold of her scissors- especially not one so cute!

The jaw puffed up at the mention of eyes. "They are mine." It gazed grimly up at her, just in case she decide she wanted to collect them. Turning abruptly it plucked out a little hair clip and dropped it to the counter with a clatter. "This too." Boundaries were being tested, and who knows what else he might have tried demanding if he hadn't been interrupted by a new arrival through the shop door. Wincing though the pounding of her head, America offered Autumn an apologetic smile. "I am so sorry, he is the just the nosiest Ned and a filching Fred." Pausing a moment, the redhead's mouth drops into a little o as she recognizes Autumn. "You were at the library, right?"
