Today Fiene and Nazriya hadn't made it very far from the apartment, probably because the kitty insisted on stopping to investigate every. single. thing. Alright, Naz wasn't quite quite as exasperated as her internal grumblings might have sounded; Fiene was ******** cute okay, especially when she was making faces and examining stuff, only to turn around and meow decisively at her owner. What was said she had no idea about, but judging by the stream of trilling meows coming from the ginger tabby it was probably something really important. Obligingly, she nodded her head and made assenting noises. A few people passing by stared but what could she say, she was a sucker for her pet and some people staring wasn't going to change that. Moonstone Dazzle sorry it's not super long!

"Aren't you just the cutest thing I've ever seen!" Autumn squealed at the cat, having been distracted from her jog by the ******** adorable cat out for a walk. As weird as this town was, you never saw cats on leashes. It just didn't happen. Even Rosalinde, Crown Reigning Bitchiness, would never condescend to be on a walk. But this little baby...
Autumn kneeled in front of the cat, smiling. "What's her name? And what kind of cat is she?" She asked, not bothering with any semblance of normalcy. Her hair sprouted flowers, she had deer antlers, and face freckles. Normal, at this point, was beyond her. Gone. Au revoir. Might as well embrace the strangeness.

Fiene turned to look at the squealing human, deigning to blink once and respond with a lazy meow that meant something along the lines of ' I marginally appreciate that you sound like you like me'. Being this cute had accustomed her to squealing humans, after all. Still, she padded forward to examine the newcomer, sniffing inquisitively before deciding that this one was alright and giving the human an experimental headbutt. " Mrow~!" and that translated as 'you have been given permission to pet me, so commence petting now'. Nazriya, in a moment of similarity with her cat, had blinked once in surprise at the lady approaching them and her really damn apparent weirdness - like, antlers? But then, she thought as she cocked her head to the side and a smile grew on her lips, it wasn't the creepy kind of weirdness you saw in serial killers or anything like that. Just... a real ******** stylish lady with antlers and flowers in her hair. Who liked cats a lot - she could get behind that and hell, anyone who squealed upon seeing a kitty on a leash couldn't be a bad person. She refused to believe it. "Her name's Fiene - probably should be a Queen or a Duchess before that with how spoiled she is, in truth." Naz grinned at her cat and said cat's newfound buddy before continuing, "she's a british shorthair! Three years old, cuddly as all hell and the softest commander of terror you'll ever meet. Woe betide the one who forgets her feeding schedule."

Autumn grinned from ear to ear. So clearly, Rosalinde had some competition as Queen Cat of Ashdown. Absolutely terrific.
"Well, I will pet you, little lady!" Autumn cooed, reaching out and petting her. "It's very nice to meet you, Fiene! You're a very beautiful lady." With a well-manicured finger, Autumn scratched behind her ears, and listened to her owner.
"Seems like you really love her, picky schedule aside. Mine is the same way," She laughed a bit, smiling at the stranger. "Turkish Angora for me, though. I think they're destined to be persnickety little shits."
...Oh! She hadn't introduced herself, either. How rude.
"I'm Autumn, by the way. Autumn Smith."

Fiene let out a series of small nonsensical squeaks to accompany her purr as the new lady hit just the right spot behind her ears. Bliss! Had she not been otherwise occupied, she'd have told the human that it was indeed very nice to meet her too. "Who could do anything else?" Naz laughed before crouching down on one knee to be at height with the other two - it felt weird to loom over someone she was talking to, okay? "Turkish Angora! I've never actually met one but ********, they look like softness incarnated. Are they really?" And then another grin at the lady's words about cat nature; "Amen to that. But hey, the large personality is part of why we love them, right?" The grin morphed to a softer smile, "glad to meet you - Nazriya Ravnholm. I'd offer to shake your hand but I see your hands are otherwise occupied at the moment." She nodded towards Fiene, still in blissful heaven over having found another human who knew how to pet a cat properly.

"Oh yeah. Like, STUPID soft," Autumn gushed, beaming in pride at the fact that her magical cat also happened to be stupid ******** pretty, regardless of her ability to grow flowers other places. If she were not biased about what a little Rosalinde was, Autumn would still be in awe over how gorgeous the cat was. It just didn't help that she got to hear all of her sarcastic comments on the disgusting habits of humans as her cat ever-so-gracefully licked her own a**.
Hypocritical. But whatever. She wasn't getting into an argument on manners with her ******** cat.
"You new here?" Autumn asked, trying to be equally polite to Nazriya as she was to Fiene. "I'm only about half a year here myself, but I'm totally looking for people to force to pet my cat."
She paused.
"That's. That's not an innuendo."

Nazriya laughed huskily; "what, you don't want me to pet your kitty?" She raised a saucy eyebrow alongside a grin and held the expression for a few seconds before winking, "nah, I know, don't worry." As her owner ran a hand down her back, Fiene chipped in, "we just moved here!" Heedless to what the ginger tabby had said, Naz hummed in thought for two seconds. "Yeah, about as new as can get, really. I just moved here - a week and a half ago?" She shrugged at her own lax time-keeping; "time flies when you're experiencing new things. I'm from Denmark so all this American whatnot -" she waved a descriptive hand in the air, "is very new to me. But it's always great to meet new people, yeah? And I'd definitely volunteer to pet your kitty in a heartbeat." She paused for dramatic effect, lips twitching in a restrained grin, "your actual cat, of course."

"Denmark? Damn, that's a long way." Autumn whistled a bit, impressed. "What brought you to Ashdown then? This isn't exactly a destination city, or anything like that." Unless it was destiny, or something like that. But Autumn wasn't going to throw that level of crazy onto this stranger just yet. That'd worked so well with Lucas and Deacon. But she was not going to let the bitter pain of failed friendships cloud this. Nuh-uh. Keep moving forward and all that.
"You should totally come over. We can have a kitty play-date, shoot the s**t. And I can show you around Ashdown? I'm just a Chicago transplant, but... I know what it's like to be new." She offered Nazriya a soft smile.
"It's kind of overwhelming."

"My aunt's lived here for the last 4 years and I needed a change of scenery; she gave a job at her store and free use of her spare bedroom so I'd have something to start out with." She shrugged, grinning, "seemed as good a deal as I was going to get anywhere, to be honest." A kitty play-date! Naz laughed, "sure! Never tried that before, but always gotta be up for something new, right? Want me to bring Fiene?" That's what a kitty play-date sounded like, but it was probably better to ask just to be sure before she showed up at Autumn's door with a cat too many in tow. "A tad, yeah - plus you guys do everything so differently here, it's hard to wrap my head around. But this city is definitely nothing like anywhere else I've ever been. It just has that.. something, yeah? Just don't ask me what that something is - charm, maybe? But I'd love a tour, for sure." She returned the smile, glad she'd taken Fiene out for a walk today.

"Yeah, totally bring Fiene! I gotta warn you- Rosalinde is a little b***h? And might make fun of Fiene. I can't say she's the nicest cat, but she needs more cat-pals." Autumn needed gal-pals herself, but socializing Rosalinde was today's goal. Or, it was now, anyway. This had been a super fortunate turn of events.
"So like. Feel free to text me about cultural s**t, or any questions you have? And we can work on a tour or something like that." She stood up, and offered out her cellphone for Naz to put her phone number in.

"That's fine, I'm pretty sure Fiene's confidence is bulletproof," Nazriya grinned. The cat in question seemed to consider the idea of a friend for a moment before meowing decisively to Autumn; "I can handle her! There were many cats where I lived before moving in with this human." Naz rose a moment after the other girl, carefully taking the offered phone and puzzling through the english settings to add herself as a contact. "You might live to regret that offer yet, but thanks," handing back the phone with a soft grin, she continued, "I didn't bring my phone with me but you can send me a text or call me later, yes?"

"Just don't let her get to you, baby," Autumn cooed softly to Fiene, scratching under the sweet little cat's chin. "She's from... somewhere special, so she's really keen on looking down on other cats." She snorted a bit, shaking her head. If only Nazriya were prone to the irony of that comment.
"And yeah, totally! I'll definitely shoot you a text this afternoon," Autumn grinned, glad to get some more gal pals in her life. And hell, Nazriya seemed like a sweet person. This could probably lead to a great friendship, if she let it.

"I won't!" Fiene meowed in-between intense purring and languid blinks at Autumn. "That sounds great!" Nazriya rested a hand on her waist and returned the grin. "I'll be anxiously waiting," a wink and her relaxed body language betrayed the exaggeration. "For now we better continue our walk and then we'll talk to you later, yeah?"

"Yeah, I'll let you two get back to it." Autumn put her phone back in her bag, and offered a gentle wave of her hand. This had been... nice. Not so crazy with magic and adventure, but just shooting the s**t. Talking about cats. She smiled brightly, then turned on her heel to head off. Wasn't gonna interrupt a good day like today when the two of them were out walking. Hell, Autumn got it. It was super nice to enjoy the good days, when you got them.
"Have a good day, Naz! I'll text you!" And with that, she was off. Still had to get through the rest of her day.

Naz raised a hand in return to Autumn's wave, "you too and looking forward to it!" As the other woman went off, she and Fiene returned to their lazy cat walk.
