The little shop was easy enough to miss. She'd had to loop back a couple of times to make sure this Equinox was really the right place. God knew how she'd found it, but here she was anyway. Hunting on a whim for this little tea shop in the middle of this small podunk town. Pushing open the door, Landry ambled her way into the store.
"Uh, hello? Anyone here?" She called, just a hint of nervousness in her drawl. "Had a bit of a weird question, if ya got the time to entertain me."

Eve was at her counter with her Kindle and a bowl of candy from next door, as was normally the case when she was minding the store and family or a Pack member wasn't around to in need of some conversation or an attentive ear. The full moon being on the horizon was making her tense -- her sleep habits were stubborn to stay diurnal again -- but the stress was manageable enough to not show on her face. As the newcomer entered the store, the woman set her story down and offered her a friendly wave inviting her further in. "That depends on the topic," she replied, "but I'm happy to try."

"So uh. Word on the grapevine is you're the mom to a bunch of furry kids these days? Pretty cool," Landry hedged awkwardly, shuffling into the store. The only tea she'd known in her life had been equal parts sugar and tea, if not a stronger mix of the sugar. All this loose leaf nonsense was beyond her.
"Google ain't really helpin' me on the whole 'I might be turning into a furry, what the ******** do I do" front of things. So I figured, crazy as it sounds, I'd come talk to the local expert."
She paused.
"And uh. Don't you tea folk usually have real fine honey? I wouldn't mind buyin' some, if you're sellin' any."

"The candy store next door might be a better place to get some quality honey," Eve smiled. "But I should see about stocking my own. As for your other problems..." She wheeled over to the small table, gesturing towards the available chair there. "I don't think any of us know very much, but I'm happy to help? What have you been dealing with so far?"

"Really? Woulda never placed a candy place for honey. Seemed too... I dunno, marketably healthy or somethin' like that." Landry shrugged easily, and lopped over to the available chair. She pulled it out and sat down, mulling over the thought process.
"Well, s**t. I dunno darlin'. I've had like, crazy overprotectiveness. Been real hungry for honey. Like. Joke cartoon levels of wantin' it. Got some claws on the full moon, and a nubby little tail." Landry snorted.
"Don't know why my tail is so nubby. One of them... vestigial limbs, I reckon."

"I bet they get that a lot," mused Eve, in response to the girl's confusion about the honey. "But they use it to make a lot of their candies, so having it around helps sell the point home." When Landry elaborated on her cravings, she gestured towards the offering plate on her altar, continuing, "If it'll help, take as many as you like. They're from next door. Anyway, that all sounds pretty normal so far." Eve gave a knowing little mischievous look -- it was clear that, although that was probably the absolute last word one would use to describe those experiences, she was hoping that it would be of some comfort to hear it at least wasn't out of the ordinary for a moonwalker. Then the woman fiddled with her midnight blue-lacquered nails, thinking for a moment. "A newly discovered identity always changes you, even it isn't magical in nature," she offered. "It changes your relationship with the rest of the world eventually, but first it changes your relationship with yourself. I suppose these experiences are growing pains. We've all gone through something similar."

"I reckon that makes sense," Landry agreed, nodding. "I'd just read online that you tea people sweeten tea with honey? Which I woulda never figured. I thought it was just... sweet tea with sugar." Who'da thunk it? This tea business was beyond her. As was this whole... spirituality magic nonsense. Landry definitely hadn't signed up for this. She was just an arcade runner, that was all.
"It's not a bad thing, far as I can tell? I don't hate it." Landry smiled, looking over to the altar and inspecting it. "I just don't know... what to do with myself, is all. It's kinda new, and not bad? I dunno. I'm probably the most apathetic person y'all will ever meet about this were s**t."
She turned back, looking Eve up and down.
"Kinda funny though, you know? I think you and I have met in passin, but we've never really... met, ya know? It's certainly gettin me out to meet people," she shrugged nonchalantly.
"So maybe that's my big change? Iunno. It's not freakin me out too bad."

"Well, the most important thing is that you find passage to Other Ashdown in time for the full moon," Eve advised, with an undertone of seriousness. "We have Lucas for that. I think my... friends over there..." she gestured towards the sidewalk outside the window, where a remarkably fat crow was perched like a watchguard not far away, "...have a sense for when an entrance is nearby too, if we ever have trouble reaching him." There was more to say on her mind, but she paused to give the girl a chance to ask about Other Ashdown. She might not have heard of it yet.

"Other Ashdown, huh. I heard rumors about that place, didn't know it was real." She trailed the pointing towards the birds, a smirk on her face. Considering Landry herself had sprouted claws and gone on a honey binge not too long ago, it wasn't that hard to believe. She offered Eve a lazy smile (her trademark), then went to looking around the store.
"Seems like a lotta noise for a lovely lady like yourself to deal with. I won't trouble 'ya with haulin' my a** to Other Ashdown, or whatever it is." Landry grinned.
"I betcha I can puzzle it out eventually. I appreciate all the kind words sofar, though."

"I'm glad you're confident, but still, I'd like you to think about it. We still don't know much about Other Ashdown, but it's not a good idea to wander it alone." Eve's voice darkened just a bit, still inviting but also quite assertive. "It's dangerous in ways things can't be on this side."

"Yeah, I seen some of the aftermath." Landry frowned, looking away. "Some of the kids turnin' up in my arcade... they got looks on their faces adults shouldn't have. You'd think they saw war or somethin'." It wasn't something she'd wish on anyone, let alone anyone that young. It was probably a ridiculous thought, but just maybe if she got involved, she could get to the bottom of it. Make sure no more youngsters got hurt.
"Thanks for your time. Didn't mean to keep ya' so long," Landry said, standing up again. She tipped her head in a bit of a nod, and turned for the door.
"Feel free to pop by the arcade if ya need anythin', yeah?"

"Of course, and likewise." Eve reached over to touch Landry's hand gently, and she would find the warmth was something beyond simply physical: they were family. They could trust one another. It was a truth that sank pleasantly down to the bones. "I always have time for Packmates, dear."
