It had been a very, very long time since Sailor Tortali had been out in the world, a very long time indeed. She had managed to become a super senshi, and then had lost all gumption to do anything…but what really was the point when she was so happy? Why would she ruin that by running around pretending to be a super hero…even tonight, the only reason she was out was because Anella was doing something and wasn’t going to be home…and she might have been missing it.
But just a little bit. Very little.
It wasn’t even going to be a long patrol, just maybe a spin around the park or something dumb, but she felt someone near her and decided to go investigate. It felt like…a chibi, maybe…and well. There was clearly only one chibi in the whole city, so she hoped it would be Goretti. She missed the kid. Orin had gotten old enough that his father didn’t need a babysitter anymore, so she was without that job…and she missed it sometimes. A lot of the time
The senshi jogged on over to where she felt the chibi’s aura and her eyes lit up. “Goretti! It is you! Man it’s been forever!”

Goretti spun when he heard his name, and while his face was blank for a moment, his eyes lit up immediately when he recognized Tortali. "Hey!" he called to her, and immediately lurched forward to hug you.
"I haven't seen you in forever, I was really worried about you! Nothing bad happened—right?"
He was beaming, and pulled away from the hug so he could look up at her.
The time that had passed since they'd last seen each other hadn't done much for his height; he might have been fifteen now, but he was still a chibi—and maybe only a few inches taller. That didn't seem to alarm him at all; his face was cracked into a massive grin. "How have you been?"

Tortali laughed and squeezed the boy tightly. “Ugh. You’ve gotten so big, stop growing, would you? No, nothing bad happened, I’ve just been happy with my girlfriend, you know. Grocery shopping and all the other things you do when you’re happy and in love.”
She grinned. “So, still a chibi…but look at you! You’re super now, huh? How long ago did that happen? Ugh I feel like I’ve missed absolutely everything, you’ll have to fill me in, okay? I miss babysitting you, but you’ve gotten so old…you really don’t need me. It sucks, it really does. You were my favorite kid, let me tell you.”

"I gotta keep growing," he laughed, "Or else I'll never be a real senshi like you! I'll fill you in on everything, but as you can see, I'm still a chibi! So basically nothing has happened—except the girl I like is not a chibi, and she's an eternal senshi! So I've gotta keep growing and getting stronger or sooner or later she won't even give me the time of day!"
He seemed exasperated, but was still smiling. "But I've been thinking, you know? She took me up to her homeworld, once, and it was amazing. And I've been kind of afraid to go up to mine, but I was playing with my phone and…I think I'm ready. Well, I mean, I'd better be! I've been trying for ever to get stronger, and…"
He sucked in a breath and stood his tallest. "I think I'm ready to see what's up there. Maybe that's the secret to unlocking the rest of my power, you know? I don't want to be a chibi forever."
He planted his hands on his hips and struck a dramatic pose. "—Oh!" he said quickly, "But your girlfriend! That's great, I'm so happy for you! If you're doing the grocery shopping, I hope she's doing the cooking!"

The senshi laughed, her cheeks going a little pink when he spoke about her girlfriend and the uh. Sharing of the chores. “Well, you like a girl, hm? And she isn’t a chibi? That’s interesting! You’re sure she’s not too old for you, right kiddo? I don’t want you liking someone who’s too old for you, you’re far too young and precious for that!”
She had missed this. Orin had always been so easy to talk to, so mature and so innocent for his age. He really had been one of her favorite kids to babysit and well, she was luck to have met him.
“She took you to her homeworld? What was that like? And why are you afraid to go up to yours, ‘retti? That seems a little silly to me, it’s your home, it’s there for you to visit, right? IT’s waiting for you…I think you should go up, it might help you out a lot, and I’m sure if you took her there, she would be very, very impressed with it~ There’s nothing like showing off for a lady.”

"Well, she was a chibi when I met her," Orin tried to explain. "But that was a few years ago, and now she's all grown up and I'm…" He sighed. "Well, I'm not. But I suppose what they say about girls maturing faster than boys must be true, right?"
He laughed, but it was shortlived; he was far too eager to get to the meat of the conversation. "Her homeworld was beautiful—it was all covered in plants and we had a picnic. But she's the senshi of Watermelon, so it makes sense that her homeworld would be covered in plants and life, you know? I'm just worried if I go up to my homeworld then it's going to be, you know, one giant glue sea. And—I love glue, really, but I'm not sure how long I can swim in a mess of glue, you know?"
He shrugged, but asked, suddenly eager, "Have you been up to your homeworld? Do you know what it's like?"

That sounded…so cool! A homeworld covered in plants, like a bunch of little watermelons…maybe there were little watermelon people hiding up there like in Steven Universe…but then again, maybe there weren’t. “I don’t know! A glue sea does sound pretty interesting though…what sort of fish or critters could even live in a glue sea?” Tortali laughed and twirled one of her braids around her finger, deep in thought for a moment. “I haven’t actually been to my homeworld yet…I haven’t done much of anything to be honest. I’ve just been…living. This is the first time I’ve powered up since the last time I saw you. Right after I had become a super senshi so…I’m really, really, really out of the loop!”
It was okay though. She didn’t need the loop…and the loop didn’t really need her either. Things kept going on, with or without her. She wasn’t someone that made any sort of difference what so ever…
And that was okay.

Goretti just laughed but shook his head. "A sea of glue is only interesting if you can admire it from solid ground! I'm gonna drown if I have to swim in that, you know?"
He let out a sigh of relief though—that he wasn't the only senshi who hadn't been to their homeworld. "I hope you go to yours, sometime. I'd like to see it. I figure I'm going to suck it up and just…go to mine and hope I don't drown. If I live long enough to tell you how it is, I'll give you a full report! And if, by chance, there's solid ground and anything to show off, maybe I can take you up some time! I've still gotta check with a cat to make sure I know how to get there—and get back, but…"
A softer smile crossed his face. "…I used to be so scared, but now I'm just excited. Now…I don't know, a part of me is worried that it won't be as great as I'm expecting. Or…that I won't be good enough. That the last Goretti Senshi will have been so much better than I could ever be."
He shrugged and looked up at her. "Are you going to be powering up more, from now on? We could go on patrols again—or, maybe you can come over and visit sometimes! If your girlfriend isn't keeping you too busy, or if that wouldn’t be too weird!"

Tortali beamed at the chibi and reached out, ruffling his hair. “I’m glad you’re not scared anymore. And don’t be like that. Of course you’ll live long enough to tell me what it’s like. And I will be expecting a full report…and I don’t know if I’ll be patrolling again, honestly I only decided to come out tonight because I don’t know. I was bored and lonely or whatever…but I would love to hang out with you again. How about we start doing lunch on every other Saturday or something. Just so we can hang out. Maybe one day you can meet my girlfriend, and maybe I can meet yours too.”
She winked and laughed, stretching. “Speaking of girlfriends though, mine should be calling me in half an hour or so, and if I don’t answer I know she’ll have a fit, so I should be heading home…”
This had been nice though. A nice walk, if nothing else…and so she hadn’t done anything to make the city safer…she had seen a friend, and sometimes that was better than nothing. Hell, that was always better than nothing.

Goretti blinked and then nodded in understanding. "Oh, okay! Yeah, that sounds good! I still have your number, so I'll text you later and we can meet somewhere for lunch! I'd like to meet your girlfriend—either she's really great or really lucky to have wound up with you! And I'll definitely ask Millie if she wants to meet up with you some time! Oh, but, I have to get to eternal first," he said, sounding determined.
"That way she can be proud of me!"
He reached over and gave Tortali one more quick hug. "If you've gotta get home, I guess this is goodbye for now—but I'll see you soon, you be careful!"
