It was time for another morning jog. Shun at least knew now how much he could push himself before his healing wounds started to tax him too much. He just tried to keep things just under that threshold. The day had been nice and sunny. The weather hadn't gotten too warm or humid just yet, though that was likely to change as the sun continued to rise. Then... he was suddenly wet. The skies were darkened with clouds looming in the sky, and it rained down upon him and the area around. The Sergeant came to a halt from the sudden shift. Blinking a few times, he looked around, somewhat alarmed. The forecast didn't call for rain today. And even then... that was way too sudden, given how there hadn't even been a single cloud above a few moments prior. "What the ********>

Jeremiah was beginning to make a habit of checking in on other ashdown. The detective lieutenant was hoping for some sign of the others that were still missing. He had found a way in, eyes catching that familiar filmy appearance, and with that ridiculous umbrella on his elbow, crossed over. It was opened up once he was over and held above his head. He kept moving through the town, eyes alert and watching, and was not that far along before he noticed ... "Kuroda?" he called out. When Jeremiah had said the younger detective would be pulled in sooner rather than later, he had not meant this soon.

Hearing a familiar voice, Shun whirled around to see Jeremiah there with... A very peculiar umbrella. The sight of the thing threw him for a loop briefly, before he turned his attention back to the older Detective. "Mercer... I... is this...?"It did share a number of qualities to what he had dreamed of not that long ago. The rain. The dreary landscape. The fog and chill. The only thing that was really different was the fact that there was someone else here right now.

"other ashdown? Yes." Jeremiah walked up towards the other man, holding the umbrella over his head so that the rain did not fall on him. He was better dressed for this weather for more than one reason. "I assume you just found yourself here?" As Shun did not look like he was totally drenched, not yet. At least the rain was letting up but the weather here was chill now compared to the warmer weather in Ashdown proper.

Shun's eyes were still darting about, alert, as he was still thrown off by what hat just happened here. "Yes... not long before you spoke up, actually. I had been jogging, and the next thing I know is it is raining and cold," he answered, giving Mercer a curt nod of thanks as the umbrella was extended out to help keep him dry. The chill was likely only going to get worse if he had gotten much more wet. "...Is crossing over usually that abrupt?" he asked. He really had no signs of warning before it happened, which he was realizing could be an incredible inconvenience.

A hand was held for Shun to hold the umbrella if he wished. "I'm dressed for this, you're not so it's best if you keep yourself dry as possible. We can take cover under that awning down the way as well." That wry look was likely becoming familiar to Shun as Jeremiah nodded slightly. "It appears that it may be that way for those that have just found themselves pulled in but more or less that it ... sneaks up on you." A roll of his eyes. "I do not know that this place is sentient but there certainly seems to be some kind of sense of humor at play sometimes."

Briefly, Shun eyed the umbrella again. Why the hell did he have something like this? But he did have a point. Almost begrudgingly, he took the umbrella. "Well... great," he sighed as he started to walk towards the awning that had been mentioned, "I had been meaning to text you about this. Just... after the first dream I wanted to be certain it was not just some one off coincidence."Nevermind the fact that it wasn't anything like what his normal dreams were like. "Is it always this dead here? The place is practically a ghost town."

"There's a story about the umbrella," he told him at the look. "I'll tell you some other time." Jeremiah fell into step next to Shun, blue-green eyes constantly on alert for either a way out or anything out of the ordinary. "It's never a one off ..." There was a shake of his head. "Though they can tend to be a bit of a break if you've been having stressful dreams." A wry twitch of his lips. The awning was not far, it seemed, and part of some restaurant that looked abandoned despite being something that was, in Ashdown, constantly full. "In most cases, yes. I've only seen a group of people here once and ..." Jeremiah's eyes focused on Kuroda. "There are other beings here but not all of them are friendly."

Shun looked over the awning some before stepping under it. Once there, he folded up the umbrella to hand back to the other detective for the time being. "My dreams are rarely pleasant either way, it seems," he grunted. Moving over to the wall, he lightly leaned against it, staring out at the rainy landscape before them both, "Some docile, some not. What should I look out for, in that case?"A breakdown of what might try to kill him was always a good thing to have in mind.

"Dreams about this place are just eerie. If they're unpleasant, there may be something else going on," Jeremiah took the umbrella, shaking it out out of habit and then hooking it on his elbow. "The creature I mentioned, the one that attacked me. It goes by Pax, The Peaceful One. Here it's a many legged deer - there's two others like it. The Prideful One and The Sorrowful One. Pax is an ally, so long as you mean no harm to Heliodora." Shun was given a look, blue-green eyes gone flinty and hard. "There is also a being here, one that is persistently on fire. While it may not mean you harm, it may even try to make a deal with you, it dangerous and can hurt you."

"I will keep that in mind," he stated, cataloging these beings for now. There was a pause, before he looked back towards Mercer, "Should things take a wrong turn when dealing with any of them... not just the ones you mentioned but any others from this place, how exactly are you able to defend yourself?"Shun honestly wasn't sure if the conventional methods of self defense were all that useful here. The thought of that made him very uncomfortable.

"In most cases? They're likely to be far more powerful than you but you're not defenseless." Jeremiah tilted his head to look at Kuroda. "Knowing self-defense, being aware, if incredibly helpful but ... Magic is real, Kuroda. Especially here."

Shun furrowed his brow, "That may be so, but that begs the question of how the hell to utilize it. The only power I have back on... the other side just manifested spontaneously. Just grasping the idea of magic being real is still admittedly... difficult."He folded his arms over his chest.

"The magic we have over there, the things we spontaneously gain, are nothing compared to the magic we can do here." Jeremiah held a hand up in front of himself, fingers snapping together. "Far less spontaneous as well. It's controllable." A small fire blazed to life above his hand, hovered in the air as he opened up his palm. It was burned cold if Shun reached towards it. With the fire there Jeremiah's eyes glowed briefly as it reflected it back in the gloom of other ashdown. "I've always been the kind of person that dives right on in. It's not always the best approach but things are moving quickly." There was a smirk. "So I can at least share with you what I know about magic here." In fact, there were a number of things he could share now. "If you're going down the rabbit hole might as well follow it all the way." Especially in light of the fact that Michael's body had been found. This entire thing had a much more serious, darker edge to it than before.

He couldn't help but stare as Jeremiah just created a small flame within his hand. That was something. Shun didn't reach out for the fire; that would be foolish. Once the initial shock of seeing this subsided, his gaze flicked back up to meet the older detective's eyes. "I do not plan on holding back. I have since decided that if I am going to deal with this, I am going to need all possible tools at my disposal. And learn how to master them if possible."...Which was starting to become more and more of an undertaking than he could have ever imagined, from the looks of it.
