The halls of the Police Department seemed darker and more devoid of color than usual. Shun made his way through the halls, headed towards his desk. No one else was around, for some reason. He had to wonder where the others had all gone.
Pausing by his desk, he tilted his head as he looked it over. It wasn't right. None of his things were there. In fact, everyone's desk here didn't look quite right. Things were a mess. Was this some sort of trick? Did something happen here? With a furrowed brow, he turned and began to make his way to Jeremiah's office. Maybe he knew something of what was going on around here.
But the older Detective was not there. It really seemed like the whole building was completely devoid of life other than himself. Stepping in, he couldn't help but notice the scorch mark in the shape of a hand on top of Mercer's desk. That was... odd. That hadn't always been there, right? Now that he thought about it, Jeremiah usually had a lot of stuff in that particular spot on the desk. Regardless, something was very very wrong with this place. And it wasn't because of the fact that no one else was around. There was something else to it. He just could not quite put his finger on it. That was starting to bother him.
Backing back out, he moved on, heading towards the front desk to head out the door. As he started to go past the empty, the phone there rang. He turned towards it, staring at the ringing device for a few moments. For a split second, he started to reach for it, but his hand soon dropped back to his side.
He opted to not answer it.
Instead, he stepped outside, seeing and feeling the rain splatter down from the darkened skies. Shadows seemed to linger out of the corners of his eyes as he surveyed the town. There still wasn't any sign of other people around. No cars were driving down the streets, or pedestrians milling about on their business. There was also an unsettling chill in the air, despite the fact that it was practically summer now. Cautiously, he walked out further into the streets, looking around. There was a surreal quality to all of this. It was as if he was dream--
----
An alarm clock blared nearby.
Stirring awake, Shun sat up and smacked the clock to shut it up. He felt a little disoriented; he had been dreaming. That was... an odd dream to say in the least. As he rubbed his head and checked the time, he mentally went over what had just happened. It was the Ashdown Police Department. Abandoned, as was the rest of the town from what he could see. And then there was that cold rain that poured down.
That ******** it had been a fluke. A lot had been going on lately, and it was possible he just had the supernatural on the mind. It could have seeped into his subconscious and manifested itself there. It was too soon to jump to conclusions. He'd wait and see, just to be certain.
