It was at least an hour before Tri was expected to arrive at the meeting place. Hexxis had arranged to get there much earlier so that she could begin to prepare a dinner for him and Zephyr. It was an odd feeling that compelled her to do so, but she didn't mind it much. Preparing chicken and cutting into the pieces of meat to insert cheese and ham as she hummed to herself, her face expressionless except for a very slight smile on her lips. Upon closer inspection, she could be clearly defined as happy. Her heart was picking up pace as she glanced at the clock. She was making good time as she began to prepare seasoned broccoli and white cheddar mashed potatoes for the sides. Hexxis didn't even need the recipes for any of the items she prepared, pulling it up in her mind effortlessly as she returned to cut open chicken breast to make the last few pieces of cordon bleu.
Her thoughts were focused on seeing Tri again as only the occasional stray thought to how Zephyr was doing, unsure of what could have happened after she left, though she had confidence that he would be able to get out fine if it came down to it. She placed faith in that as she returned her thoughts to Tri, still thinking about how to bring things up, how to explain the situation she was in to him, and eventually asking her burning questions she had. She hoped things would turn out well. Tri knew her, she hoped that he would find some kind of understanding of her, and that they could move forward to fix what had been damaged. She seemed to pause, as she stared down at the cutting board, blinking slowly lost in thought.
Her train of thought was broken as the news began for the hour as there were talks of renegades that caught her attention. Her eyes focused on the television as they showed still images of a video that was said to have aired the previous day in Norcrest. As the news anchor discussed the topic, they displayed a side icon of Zaku Shiori, speaking of his actions as the renegade leader. As she stared at the screen, her grip on the knife tightened as she exhaled a light shaky breath.midnightspirit You can't tell me how to live my life.... lol

"He's getting better isn't he?" A soft voice spoke up behind her as Ree stood across the other end of the kitchen from where he had phased in silently after Tri checked for any life forms from a distance. Blue eyes were watching her intently for an attack but other wise there was only a flicker of a frown as he stared at her coldly. "You're partner is not here yet" a statement not a question as he just stared at her. "Buisness?"

Hexxis had been so focused on the images on the screen, that she had not noticed anyone enter, but somehow immediately knew it was not her partner as she whipped around, knife gripped in hand in defense before realizing who it was and she blinked. Relaxing slightly, she loosened her grip on the knife slightly. She felt relief then dread as it suddenly dawned on her that it was Ree and not Tri. What was he doing here? Tri couldn't have possibly... She frowned slightly, figuring that Tri would be willing to risk Ree finding out about Ashral over trusting her at this point. A pain ached into her chest again. Taking a shaky breath she sighed, "I'm sorry, brother. I did not expect you to be here so early. My partner is not here yet, it is just me at the moment." she responded as she turned and set the knife down on the counter, masking a pained expression on her face for the moment as she concentrated. [Nullify: Soul Light for 15 minutes.] She didn't want to do it, but it was a safe guard for herself and for Zephyr. She collected herself back into an emotionless expression once more before turning back to Ree. "...Where is Tri?.." she asked quietly.

Rene just tilted his head slightly his eyes growing colder if that was possible as he gave her a curt nod. "We assumed so." Not saying they didn't expect her to be here either, nor cooking not just.....never mind. Raising his hand he touched the side of his ear. "Clear" he said quietly instead of answering Hexxis and turned to watch her blankly.
He took note of the fading greenish bruises under the eyepatch and the neck then the cut at her cheek, who knows what else he would find if he extended his healing sense but he didn't, just watched her instead and took in the cut of the jacket she wore, so similiar to the the one Tri wore. Well it was obvious who she missed and already wearing the marks of her trade. -------- Shadow coalesced with Ree's shadow as Tri stepped through quietly, looking very pale and tired as he reached out to grab Ree's shoulder for balance. It took him a few seconds but he strightened again as he stop feeling dizzy. His two featherless wings had black wing covers over them as he wore a black sweater and pants while Ree wore the black hoodie and black pants.
Tri cast a quick look around the kitchen and focused on Hexxis, a flicker of confusion at seeing a teen instead of the child he had expected. "Hexxis" he said quietly with a faint nod, she must had had a growth spurt within the month she was missing. It made more sense now why she was able to join, if only slightly. The silver gaze glance at the bruise that was barely noted under her eyepatch and the reminents of one over her collar along with the cut with a feeling of guilt and disappointment that he didn't allow to bleed into his expression.
"Apologies for arriving earlier than expected " he said formally as he glanced toward the food he assumed she was preparing with only a quick glance at the Tv as a familiar voice flowed out of it. It was fitting in an ironic way. "We didn't expect either of you to be here yet" he looked questioningly even if he had heard her answer to Ree over the comm. "We could return in an hour if that is more convenient "

Hexxis slid her gaze over to the shadows as Tri stepped through, her heart sinking into her stomach as she took in his condition. He said he was fine, and yet he obviously appeared to have been recently injured. Her breath quickened only slightly as her throat began to feel tight and a feeling of something horrible built at within her. She took a step forward without even realizing it, but paused. She shouldn't. It was getting to a dangerous point now. She took a calm breath and steadied her rocky emotions. "....tri..." she spoke softly, barely audible. She reached out a thought, with still no return as it gave her an unsettled feeling. She shifted her eyes to the food and took up the tray of chicken with a mitted hand and put it in the oven. "Its fine if you stay... The food will just not be ready yet.. she commented as she then moved to the counter, picking up the remote. "We can watch something else if you prefer." she suggested, trying to keep her mind off her racing thoughts. It didn't matter the reason why Tri was injured, she already felt it was her fault. A frown tugged at her lips as she focused on the screen for a moment before reluctantly changing the channel.

There was a flicker of anger in Ree's eyes as she turned away to grab the remote. Still he didn't move away from Tri, allowing him to lean on him until he got his bearings again.
------------
"....." Tri started to flare his good wings automatically as he saw the indication that she might come and hug him only to blinked when she turned away instead. Lowering his wings he just watched her put the chicken into the oven then turn to the TV, his wings drooping slightly but grateful when the channel was changed. She was just as uncomfortable with this as he was but he rather not watch Tv when this might be the only time together. Looking at her bruises he sigh softly, what did he want to ask? Everything seemed so tenuous ...they had been looking for so long for her and she was in the place they assume to be least likely.
"....." he was about to open his mouth to offer to take her collar off now before he remembered Ree and closed it with a clench teeth. "Those are from work?" He motioned to her bruises, blunt as always but watching her carefully for a lie.

Hexxis was torn between saying everything and saying nothing at all. It was difficult to pick and choose what she could say and what she wouldn't be able to say. A game that she hardly liked, especially when it came to Tri. She sighed and simply turned off the tv and closed her eyes. She shifted her eyes to the couch and motioned to it. "Please rest..." she requested in a quiet but monotone voice. As she hesitated to move towards them, she took a short inhale and moved to Tri's other side to attempt to help if he would allow it. As she moved, she thought about the question he asked, almost reflexively moving a hand to touch the collar but she fought off the urge to do so as her expression never changed. "I would not consider this as a part of the work I have completed. I would recognize it as a combination of odaxelagnia and asphyxiation as a result of actions meant to experience more emotions and sensations that I otherwise would not have been able to discover or feel." she explained bluntly. She didn't know how else to word it, nor understand how it could be taken. She sighed, trying to find her own questions for him. "....Your injuries are very likely my fault.... I apologize..." she looked away for a moment even if her face stayed void of the regret she felt for the situation.

Tri's eyes widen then narrow as the faint silver glow went from dim to bright. "...and who administered this to you?" he kept his voice even as he allowed her to help him to the couch. He wasn't that bad off but it allowed her to come closer, something he felt she wouldn't allow now unlike when she was a child. Even though, he was furious and Ree was the only one who likely knew the full extent of it.
----------
The light in Ree's eyes flared as well but he said nothing, just moved by Tri and helped him to the couch. Noting the tension of his wings and neck the glow of his eyes and the position of his feet as he sat down that will allow him to get up in a hurry. Good..he wasn't alone in his thoughts.

Hexxis stared at him, noting something of alarm in his face, too busy being focused on that alone to see Ree's similar expression to her words. She seemed not to understand their reaction as she stood next to the couch after helping Tri to it, glad that he would let her. She moved slightly to sit in the chair next to the sofa, her posture still straight and proper as she folded her hands in her lap. "I requested my partner administer the process as I had found in a book checked out at the library during my time in Belrad." she paused, trying to make a connection to an emotion that would likely come from her words but could only make haphazard assumptions to an answer. "He has been more than willing to do as I request to experience things I don't quite understand yet and aid me in understanding them. Just as he also suggests things to experience. Some are foreign concepts, but ultimately he would never risk my life to help me." she shook her head a bit. "This information isn't exact very important. My pursuit of experience and emotions are only secondary to my desire for information about myself and answers to questions that I feel are more important to keeping myself... and you both safe." she sighed a bit, almost frowning, 'Though I reached a dilemma where I am unable to speak or be involved in conversation about what it is I look for, as my lack of knowledge only increases the danger that could threaten you both. It is, for the lack of a better word, complicated." the frown was more visible now as she shifted her eyes to the floor briefly before slowly looking to Tri and then Ree.

"Of course he would" he muttered angerly as he dug his claws..no nails they were nails ..sharp nails, into the couch behind Tri but other wise kept his face neutral nearly bored.
-----
"He never tried to stop you? " he sounded incredulous as he tried not to let the outrage show on his face but it was hard. He had gone here hoping that his more cynical mind was not right, that she had found someone with some common sense only to realize that neither had it.What else did they do to have her feel emo-. He clenched his hands into a fist and the glow in his eyes died down to a dead-like look as he relaxed his hands.
"Safe..." He repeated, he failed there. He failed with Hexxis and now she thought she needed to protect them. She was his daughter and he failed to protect her, to even stop her. "So this danger you think will come from you? You're trying to find more information about what was done to you? " remembering Anadii's files, but now he just looked relaxed similar to when he was guarding Mara.
Ree just leaned forward slightly, his eyes also dead-like as both shadows waited for Hexxis response.

Hexxis tilted her head just slightly, trying to make sense of the question as well as what little actions she could pick up from them. She blinked through a blank face as she shifted her eyes to the floor thoughtfully then looked to Tri again to speak. "The only things he has requested that I stop... Were to not use my wound transferral power on him as he was concerned about my tendency to take on more wounds than others would prefer I take. I agreed to it. He also does not allow me by respectful request to take missions alone any longer. I understand that request as I am sure that he was more than alarmed when I attempted my last solo mission." she explained, her expression never changing, "The simple answer to your question is no, he normally does not. However, he can and does on the occasion when my life would be in danger." she closed her eyes for a brief few seconds as she spoke the next sentence, "Just as well, he will inquire with me before administering any suggestions that he has for me. I can choose to deny, accept, or revise the request as needed. He would never execute a procedure that I had not already given permission for."
She blinked once more as he repeated the word 'safe'. She nodded in agreement before listening to his question, a frown beginning to set in as her hands tensed nervously. "The only way I can think to explain it is through analogies and hope that you understand as it is much to dangerous to ask more questions yourself about it. I can attempt such a feat, only if you agree to those terms. Otherwise, I will have to decline answering your questions and possibly remove myself." she visibly frowned. "It is for the best. But since you have already asked the question, I can answer just those at this moment without the agreement." she sighed, her body language looked tense as she shifted her eyes back to the floor. "Yes..... and Yes." she looked to Tri, her expression fading between blank and pain.
"If you would like, I can attempt my explanation and you can answer to me yes or no if you understand or you do not. Is this okay? If this is not acceptable, I will try to find another means to relay the information to you. I want you to trust me that I act with purpose.... and..." she hesitated, glints of pain in her eyes, "And I never meant for anyone to become injured on my behalf. I take that responsibility for my actions."

There was only a flicker of a glow that returned to his eyes as he tried to keep an open mind. It at least seemed he respected her and that was all he could hope for, but it didn't mean her partner wasn't a conniving sneak just trying to use her. No, it also seemed the fault laid with Hexxis as well. She was just starting to show her emotions when she left and likely didn't know or understand how things worked outside of Spectrum and SIU. He will see when the partner gets here, he never even asked for their name something he normally would have but was caught of guard by Mara and suddenly hearing Hexxis again.
"What is their name?" he asked quietly before listening to what else Hexxis had to say. A faint frown broke the deadpan look as the glow intensified only a tiny bit more as he nodded. "I agree to your terms but to your apology ....my injury is not your fault. It was a moment of distraction " he shifted the two wings slightly and let them fall again, watching the pained look flick in an out on her face wanting to ask one more question but realizing it was to late. With a quiet sigh he nodded ad he prepared to listen.

Hexxis tensed slightly as Tri asked for her partners name. Had she not told him? Of course she hadn't. How long had she been subconsciously avoiding saying his name. Since when did the matter of his identity cause such a tightness in her chest that caused her thoughts to race out of control and her hand to to clench into fists as she remained rigid and silent. It was a few moments as she stared at the ground seemingly in thorough contemplation on how to bring up the information without causing Tri distress. Was there even a fluid solution to such an issue? It seemed her thoughts would not stop until she paused and blinked a bit. In a sudden instance, she took a breath and seemed to calm down almost completely and gave a very small nod to nothing at all and then looked to Tri. "I must preface that answer with the disclosure that if I am to be reprimanded for my actions, I shall willingly accept them." she spoke a bit more fluidly and with a sense of purpose. "My partner is Zephyr Kardos, the same person I was instructed to stay away from. My reasoning for this was I knew he would likely be the only way I could find out more about Haven and why they desired my ownership in lieu of finding a Haven facility myself and risking my capture. I found that he had no information to provide and I promptly sought other means to search for answers. However, I would find myself speaking to him more frequently until we had formed a sort of bond. I came to realize I had developed an overwhelming desire to keep a close proximity to him as well as do anything in my power to protect him, as I discovered he displayed these same compelling inclinations before being put into a verbal agreement to continue such actions. I have these same desires for you.. and for Ree." she glanced to Ree for a moment before looking to Tri once more. "It is difficult to explain what it is I feel for him, however through research, I have found that there is a high possibility that I am feeling love for him. Even if I do feel it is much more complex than what is defined in books as love. I have a very strong attachment to him as he to I. Though, we do not desire the component known as romance as we simply wish to be near to each other and secure the safety of one another. This, as well as other factors, led to the decision to become partners." she took a deep breath, hoping that would be a sufficient answer, despite being quite a mouthful. This was the way she understood it, however, so hopefully Tri would understand what she meant on that notion.
She was quiet for a few moments, but rather not leave the silence too long for the desire to move topics quickly consumed her. Visibly sighing, she tried to find a place to start to convey her situation. She had run through what she would say a million times in her head before, enough to likely drive Zephyr a bit crazy when she started into her racing thoughts about what could happen or what she should say. It had been difficult, but she had decided on how to speak, and yet her mind went blank as she couldn't seem to remember what she had planned. An odd feeling in the least as she always remembered everything. Why was she forgetting that now? No matter, she would just start fresh, speak, and hope for the best.
Oh yes, the book. She leaned over the other side of the chair she was sitting in and sifted through her bag and took out a small notebook and set it on the coffee table. "I wanted to give this to you. You can look at it later as it is not important at this time with my presence here." she instructed calmly then sat straight in her chair once more. Taking a deep breath, she started, "As you may know, there is an innate process to the way animals may act or live... just as a computer that has a hiccup or there is possibly something wrong. However, it is barely seen as a problem, and could be overlooked or even seen as a beneficial process when in fact the item in question is just not working properly." she struggled with the skirting about the issue, being rather used to being very direct about what she was trying to say. She sighed heavily and visibly frowned. "While there was never an intent to harm, ideas and sensations can become quite an overloading developement. Especially where it was never intended to be." her voice was becoming softer, a bit more pained as she concentrated on the words. "When an animal doesn't know what to do, it is possible to activate a sense of natal philopatry. They often are not aware of their instincts to do so. Well, what if they did realize it, but much too late to stop or change." she paused, taking a calm breath to steady herself. "Then the thoughts race and questions come. Wolves wonder if they had always been wolves when they were told they were a cat. They wonder how long they had been howling at the moon and why. Other wolves do it, and is what that wolf was supposed to do as well. What if that wolf didn't want to do that. Was there ever a place for a wolf that thinks it is a cat?" her eyes had shifted to the floor as she talked, her voice soft, almost frail. "Consider this, that there was no way to answer why the wolf howls or how to stop it.... Consider that, it is possible that if that wolf were to stop howling, no one would hear it and it would cease to exist." she hesitated, and clenched her fists again. "What I mean to say is. What if there is something else that forces a howl, just as a bothersome sound. It cannot be stopped but how can one change the sound so it doesn't hurt so much..." she closed her eyes and shook her head. "I apologize that I do not make sense. I wish there was any way to explain what it is that I know and cannot say." she opened her eyes, narrowed in pain before the look faded and she looked to Ree. "Maybe wolves can only see red because something is wrong. Without knowing, maybe it is trying to right itself but it's really dangerous to push that notion. Carefully divert the power or you could overload the whole system..." her voice eased back into a calm more robotic tone as she tried one last time to find a way to say it.
"I understand that was a lot of information... but do you understand what it is I am trying to say? Yes or no?" she looked to Tri once more, staring at him, a glint of anticipation in her eyes as she desperately hoped he'd understand. She paused after a moment shaking her head, almost caught up in her words, she had forgotten to say something else. "Zephyr is nearby but will not enter until you are okay with his presence here. Is it okay for him to enter?"

"No"
Tri moved to his feet as the glow in his eyes was gone again, he stared down at Hexxis not even bothering to hide the disappointment on his face as he looked at her like a commander to a soldier. "You don't understand what you did. You still don't understand the reasons I wanted to keep you away from him. Of course he would know nothing, if you asked I would have had better places for you to look without needlessly asking someone like him " he said quietly as he pulled away from the couch and silently looked around not even knowing how to answer her second statement as his mind stayed on the first one. "You still don't know understand the intricacies of living " he said bluntly "or how to keep yourself truely safe. " he turned to look back at Hexxis with a look of sadness in his eyes that were glowing normally again.
"I would pull you away now if I could, but you made a name for yourself in this three short weeks. " he said with a glance toward Ree who was oddly silent. "I won't force you to give up a possible future that you have a very large potential in. " his voice quietly as memories hit him and he forcefully pushed them down."Even if I were to tell you to leave Zephyr you wouldn't would you?" He asked with a sigh as if hoping she might give him a different response. Leaning down slowly he picked up the notebook she handed him and tucked it under his arm.
"I did not understand your analogy but I think I know what you are worried about. I will look into this information as well since you think there might be something else there that is affecting you.... of what we have been able to find so far by accident is that you are allergic to strawberries. " he stated quietly while Ree shifted to move by him. --------
Ree shook his head as he was mentioned as an afterthought, he didn't blame her he didn't put much emphazies in attempting to talk to her before. But for her to run off and stay for a crush on someone they were warned about....
"One thing I want to add, animals are a lot more open than humans. A cat who raised a wolf would not find it strange at all, a fox raised by dogs will think it is a dog. A dog raised by a deer will stil love its adopted mother. All of them adapt or accept or fall in their normal roles even if it goes against their natural instincts." he said quietly "There is trust in those odd pairs is one that can break easily " he said with a faint friendly smile even if his eyes stayed dead.

Stopping just outside the small safe house that he had selected to be the meeting spot for the strange meeting, but as he hovered his hand over the doorknob. Letting out a soft sigh, he slid the team ID through the crack of the door and stood up again. Putting his hands in his pockets, he started to walk off, back towards the city, taking the long way just in case anyone inside decided to follow him if they saw him.
'Hexxis - just, be careful. I know there are some awful people in the world, and I used to be one of them. Come what may, I will love you.' and with that, he continued on his way back to the city, looking a little on the sad side, but he couldn't really do much else. He wasn't welcome there, so he would just leave them be. Maybe he'd be welcome back at Sanctuary.
