He was still unused to making his way around the streets of Destiny City. Powering up was a foreign concept to Hermes, but apparently a necessity that he had not foreseen until he'd been informed it was a part of his duties as a senshi.

It was a strange and unusual thing. Hermes could not have said that it was something he had ever expected to happen to him since coming to the city, and yet here he was, dressed - well, perhaps not ridiculously, but in an outfit he wasn't quite sure was something he would have worn otherwise - in this white and gold and blue uniform, encouraged to fight evil.

As though they were some sort of heroes, if that could even be the proper term. Hermes found it much too fraught with bad connotations, and besides, it was a ludicrous thing anyway. He was much more interested in simply continuing on as he had been, finding out what was the right course of action - though as it stood, the Negaverse, in all their so-called violent glory, did not seem particularly pleasant to him, even if he'd never actually meant one before.

So the Order it was, until he learned otherwise.

Teal heels clacked against the pavement as the blonde walked, back straight and head held high. Blue eyes swept across the mostly deserted streets as she moved, painted lips twisted in a frown. In her hand, she twirled her black lanyard around her index finger, needing something to distract her.

The night was boring and she wished that Epidote was with her.

It might have been selfish to have forced him into this new life with her, but their strengths lied with each other and there was no one she trusted more than him. But he wouldn't join her and curiosity brought her out of her lavish apartment and onto the streets. Alkaid was busy, off doing whatever the woman did when she wasn't showering Stellerite with attention.

Alone.

How unfortunate for the woman that thrived off of attention.

That was, until she spotted a man in white and navy, blond hair, and fairly attractive. She could work with that. "Hello?" she called, making herself sound a little frightened, even worrying her lip, and pulling into herself.

Stella was great at looking vulnerable.

He felt the beginnings of a power signature flutter through the air towards him; unfamiliar in nature, it felt darker than the ones he was used to, as though it had been dipped in ink. Hermes did not think it felt particularly like the Order ones, but he had only felt them once or twice before.

He turned slowly to look at her, all blonde hair and large, innocent eyes. Hermes let his gaze flick up and down her uniform - teal shirt, black pants, and matching heels. He didn't know her, but he didn't know anyone except the bare minimum of people, so this was hardly surprising.

"Hello," said Hermes calmly, and he wondered what it was she was so afraid of. Her shoulders were curved in, her expression one of worry and concern, not an intent at fighting or anger - but perhaps she was just new to whatever faction she was in.

"Who are you?"

Straight to the point, as always.

Stellerite could only tell that he was order because of his uniform. Energy signatures were not something she really understood, despite the ascendant-general's attempts at explaining it. It was not without effort, but in the end it'd been decided that experiencing them was the only way for her to properly learn.

"Who are you?" She parroted back at him as the distance between them lessened. She paused, for effect, and straightened slightly with her gaze darting back and forth like she'd heard something that spooked her.

"S-stellerite, Stella maybe?" She shrugged a little. Stella worried her bottom lip as she blinked at him wondering what he might say, how he might react. "The city - hides a lot at night."

"Hermes," he said automatically, as she came a step closer. "I'm Sailor Hermes, of Trickery, apparently."

He said it as a fact, but as though he had been told this and was not entirely aware of everything that came with being this person - which was relatively true. The cat that had apparently awakened him had simply run off after doing so and had left him without much understanding of his new position.

Still - it was nice to have a new identity. And Hermes was a good name steeped in mythology, which he found appealing.

"Stellerite," said Hermes now, regarding her calmly. A wind rifled through, shifting the blond hair so that it fell in sweeps across his forehead. "Yes, so I've heard. The city is filled with all manner of things that creep and crawl in the night."

He lifted his chin, eyebrows raised thoughtfully.

"Are you one of them? Or are you afraid of them?"

Hermes, of Trickery.

Stellerite tucked that piece of information into a neat corner of her mind, intending to use it and exploit it later. She found it amusing, though her amusement was carefully concealed by a convincing mask, that he gave his name so freely and his sphere. Instinctively, the woman wondered if her ascendant general would find a use for him and his sphere.

Naturally, Alkaid was interested in senshi. Of course it was of the corrupt variety, but there was always the chance she could turn him. Maybe. She was still getting used to everything and her strengths hadn't quite been figured out.

Not as Stella anyway.

"One of what?" She feigned ignorance, making sure to look as vunerable as possible as she took a step forward. Her hands were clasped together, held up by her breast, and she worried her lip as she blinked those big blue eyes of hers. "I don't - I've heard about you...senshi that is," she exhaled shakily, making sure she trembled. "The city's a mess because of you and them. Us? I don't know. I don't - " she very well looked like she might cry.

His gaze flickered across the young woman's face, though part of it was shadowed from the late hour. Her aura felt similar to his own in certain aspects, but it was like someone had taken it and twisted it, warped it into something that was somehow off.

A peculiar sensation. Hermes' blue eyes swept up and down Stellerite's uniform.

"You wear colors opposite of mine," he said calmly, by way of cool explanation, noting her tearful face, the desperate look of confusion that was etched across her expression. "And your aura is different than that of the White Moon, which means that you are not the same as I am."

He gave a shrug, Hermes' shoulders rising and falling elegantly in his tightly laced uniform.

"I suppose it's not surprising if you haven't heard of the senshi, there seems to be a disconnect in communication."

Stella cocked her head, lip pulled between teeth and her hands clasped together in a manner that made her appear weak, vulnerable. In need of protection. This Hermes character was new, possibly naive, and didn't seem fight happy so the woman wasn't worried about potential conflict. In truth, the blonde was perfect for the lieutenant to test her acting abilities.

It was kinda like playing out the beginning stages of one of her stories -

Oh, she suddenly had a great idea for another story.

Focus Pen, she hissed internally, looking up at Hermes with wide blue doe eyes. "I don't know if opposite is the right word." They both wore shades of blue even if more white permeated his uniform than hers. "White moon?" She feigned ignorance on the term. "What does that feel like?"

She knew, knew what senshi felt like and had an idea of what knights did but how did he know so clearly that she wasn't the same?

She certainly seemed as though she wasn't aware of anything going on, which didn't surprise Hermes, all things considered. He'd been thrown into this war without anything at all to keep him informed, and it wasn't until he'd run into Denebola that he'd had anything at all to go off of.

Maybe it was the same for this...well, he wasn't sure what she was, exactly, except not Order, and that possibly meant that she was Negaverse, except now he wasn't sure. Hermes slanted a gaze towards her, eyes curious as he flicked them across her uniform again.

"Clean," he said, after thinking on this a moment. "They feel...well, I suppose 'sterile' is another word for it. I've met another Order member before, and it tasted clean to me."

Hermes tilted his head to the side.

"You don't feel that way."

A thrill of pleasure shuddered through Stellarite as Hermes practically played right into her hand. Keeping the happy grin off her face was more difficult than she expected but she managed.

Clean. Sterile.

Not words she would have used to describe the auras herself, but she couldn't deny that they still fit. Swallowing she stepped forward hesitantly, a small and slender hand reaching for him only to stop short, fingers curling inward and drawing back towards her chest.

"What do I feel like then?" She asked, voice a little stronger more confidently like she was growing comfortable in his presence. Another step, only a few left stretching between them. Stella looked up at him beneath her lashes, a picture of shyness and what she hoped was some allure. "What do I taste like?"

She couldn't help but wonder what he might do if she reached for him.

He wondered at the way she moved, his head still cocked to one side, observing her silently. She was reaching for him as though she wanted to touch him, but while Hermes made no move forward, he made no move back either, his gaze calm and his eyes something akin to vague curiosity.

What do I feel like, then?

She was still shy, uncertain, though he thought he heard something else in it, a small fraction of confidence more. Hermes regarded her, the very picture of placidity, trying to discern the differences between the power signature that he had felt before and the one in front of him now.

What do I taste like?

"Dark," said Hermes. "Like someone has taken white paint and mixed black in with it, or dropped ink into a cup of cream."

Stellarite thought the man to be fascinating. He didn't bend to her charms, her ploys like the other boys she'd entertained when bored but he didn't shy from her either. The woman wondered if it was a result of her carefully constructed persona she was projecting to him or if it was something else.

With her lip between teeth she took the same hand that reached for him before and reached again. Gingerly, slowly, the tips of her fingers tried to press against the curve of his jaw. Her fingers were cold, from the slight chill of a cooling summer night but he was warmer and she thought it might be because in comparison, he wore so much more than her.

"I don't know what you taste like," she said softly, expression twisting into something confused and troubled. Idly she wondered if this would be a time to see if she could pull energy from him. A tiny bit of concentration went into it, but she focused on him. "Can you show me?"

Her hand chilled him.

The fingers that pressed against his jaw were exploratory, a light touch, and Hermes let it happen, silently watching as she stared up at him from under her lashes. He couldn't tell what she was thinking behind her expression, which had shifted to one of confusion, he thought, if he was reading it correctly.

The expression on Hermes' face, however, was inscrutable, every reaction subdued, controlled.

"You could tell if you concentrated on my aura," he said. "Is that not enough for you?"

He was odd, Stellarite had decided. He didn't move when she touched him or encroached on his space but he didn't welcome the actions either. It was annoying and it took more out of her to keep her facade up.

Carefully, her fingers traveled across his jawline and down his neck. There was enough of a press that she could pull energy from him. Her other hand pressed against her chest, curled into a loose fist against her blouse to hide the orb beginning to form.

"Feeling is different than tasting," she told him. She seemed a little put out by his response. "It's like being told something instead of being shown. I want to be shown."

For the first time, a flicker of something shifted across Hermes' face. Something akin to uneasiness, perhaps, or irritation, or confusion that passed in his eyes as Stellarite's fingers traveled along his jaw and then over his neck, the pulse beating slightly faster under her hand.

"Shown...how, exactly?" Hermes asked, his brows drawing together, his pale brows drawing together.

"What are you asking me to do?"
