How to catch a Pokémon in the wild
Many of you probably already know how catching a wild Pokémon works, but for those of you that don't this will help you out. This area also contains rules and limitations on the capture of certain Pokémon so be sure to read this carefully, as you are expected to know what said rules are.
The process of catching wild Pokémon is the same no matter what Pokémon you are facing. You simply need to weaken or befriend it, then capture it with a Poké Ball. It also helps if you can put it to sleep, or inflict it with a status condition. Where the limitations start to come in is the type of Poké Ball you need to use in order to obtain it. Certain Pokémon are tough enough to break out of a normal Poké Ball regardless of how tired they are. In this case, you need to use something stronger, like a Great or Ultra Ball.
Rules and Limitations
To help trainers keep track of what Pokémon will require a stronger ball, the routes and dungeons are color coded to display the stronger Pokémon in the area. Blue colored Pokémon will require a Great Ball or specialty ball to catch, and the red ones will require Ultra Balls.
Specialty Pokéballs
The following is a list of specialty Pokéballs and how they rank for Pokémon capture.
