Cadmus flopped back onto the grass of the park and gave a sharp snort and then a huff. His features were bright and puffy, eyes glossy, and his already pale complexion was a somewhat ghostly white; from afar or in passing, one might guess he had been crying, but it was quite far from that. The poor boy was sick.
His father had told him a myriad of times the dangers of visiting his sick friend and even cautioned him, but the pink-haired boy shrugged off Rigel's concerns and visited his house everyday after school. So when he came down with a cold himself, he was given only one instruction: To stay in bed and consume plenty of fluids.
Well, he followed one of those rules properly.
Cadmus drawled and flopped on his stomach, puking up a blade of grass beside his nose and turning it around between forefinger and thumb.
"Thisb suckbs," he said, sighing. "Suckbs, suckbs, suckbs."

"Ughghhhhh...."
Elsewhere in the park, one Super Sailor Asclepius echoed Cadmus' sentiments, if for a different reason. Even though she was powered up, she had a cast on her right forearm, white and criss-crossed with blue stripes. Her left arm was wrapped in ribbons that matched ... as though the power in her starseed had found a way to work around the extra support. Asclepius, on the other hand, had grown less and less tolerant of the thing as long as she had worn it. She had another week longer with it, maybe two, but that only made it tougher to avoid meditating on just how damned itchy the thing had gotten with the heat of summer.
She clenched her fingers and grasped the cast with her other hand, shifting it as much as he could manage to try to scratch the skin beneath it. The hazel-eyed girl kept making her patrols to keep herself distracted as well as she could, and to avoid feeling useless. Fortunately, there seemed to be another friendly aura nearby; perhaps conversation would help, as well.
As Asclepius made her way to see who else was out and about in the park, she picked up a small twig from the side of the path. When she encountered the chibi senshi lying in the grass, the older girl had the stick shoved carefully beneath the wrapping on her forearm, and her features set in a slightly strange expression of relief as she found the accursed itching spot.
Abruptly, she stopped and glanced away, hoping he could not see her slight blush of embarrassment, or the twig as she tossed it aside again.
"Ah, hello," Asclepius greeted. "Everything seem okay here tonight? No monsters recently?"

Cadmus hadn't the energy to find her expression or the possible sight of a thrown stick strange, let alone put in some to be spooked when he thought he was alone. He rolled his head back to the point he was looking at a view of Asclepius upside down and seemed to relate her to falling from the sky. He shook his head slowly and sniffled.
"Nob... No, thereb... Thereb... Augh..." Suddenly, Cadmus gave a long, airy snort that lasted a few seconds; using a finger to rub the top of his nose. However, now with his nose (partially) free, he could talk more freely. "No, I didn't see anything... or sense anything... Or... anything..." He gave the senshi the a-okay sign before flopping his arm back onto the grass. "Everything's been... Everything's been all right. Crystal clear."

"Everything except for you, sounds like," Asclepius chided gently, giving the boy a sympathetic smile as she sat down beside him on the grass. She had always been surprised and not precisely happy about chibi senshi, primarily because she knew the task at hand was dangerous. But at the same time, she had also grown to accept it - they needed as much help as they could get, and the kids she had fought alongside in the past had proven capable enough to dust a youma at the very least.
Still, a kid with a cold was a kid with a cold.
"You know you're allowed to take a break if you're not feeling well," the Senshi of Medicine gently reminded him. "I can keep an eye on the park for a few hours if you want some extra time to sleep and fight off your personal invaders."
For the moment, the brunette could just conveniently forget how she had powered up and made patrols starting just a few days after she got her arm broken, and went hunting for youma while still hopped up on painkillers. It was different for grownups.

Cadmus let out a groan and threw his forearm over his eyes to hide his chagrin. He didn't want to admit she was right, but she was right, and it kind of bothered him that she was. The state of the park was in absolute silence and he didn't have to be on patrol, heck he could be in bed soaking up some much needed sleep, but duty called. Duty always called.
"That's okay," he replied to her, his sniffles returning. "I'b... Erhrm... I've been kinda, like, drifting since I got here... Caught a few Z's, and then woke up, and then again, and then you showed up." He inched his arm away to look up at her. "I'm Cadmus. Senshi of, um, cranberries. You?"
He then glanced at her cast and winced. "And, if you don't mind me asking, how'd you get that?" He flexed a finger at it.

The older senshi arched a brow at the boy's response, then glanced around them at the surroundings. She seemed about to reply, then he introduced himself and she frowned, looking up as though trying to recall something. "Oh, I think you might be on my list." The hazel-eyed girl's response was slow and contemplative, then she shrugged slightly and replied with an introduction of her own: "I'm Ascleipus, Senshi of Medicine."
She gave a slight laugh, taking in the humor of her telling him to take time off from senshi work and get some rest, and followed up with the admission, "I don't think my magic can cure colds, unfortunately. I mean, the stuff smells like it could be herbal cold medicine, I guess I've never actually tried it."
As the boy mentioned her cast, Ascleipus looked down at her arm again. "This? I got it fighting bad guys," she sighed. Considering the alternative at the time had been taking the Negaverse officer's hit directly to her face, she supposed maybe two months of an itchy cast was not quite so bad after all... but it started to itch again anyway now that she was thinking about it.

The mention of a list piqued the chibi's interest. Shifting his arm up from his eyes again, he said, "List? What... kinda list? A-are you, like, keeping tabs on me... Ascleipus, was it?" He grimaced. "That's kinda... creepy..."
Despite this, Cadmus couldn't hide his defeat to hear her reply. His lips curled to a small frown after a sniffle. "Thab's okay," he said. "I'll feel better soon... I hope. I knowb senshi have, like, really fast healing powers, so maybe that works with cold, too... Blegh."
His frown grew deeper to hear that the bag guy's had hurt her. Pushing himself up to sitting, he studied her cast, and then looked up to her. "You are okay, right?" he said. "I mean, a cold sucks, but it can't compare to a cast. It was from a Nega agent, right? They've been getting... really scary lately." He shuddered as he thought of the one that threatened him with a metal bookmark to his throat. "Unless they've always... been like that."

"Oh, no, not on you specifically," the older senshi replied hastily. "The other asteroids from the same group as me, the Apollo asteroids. I have a list of them, because I'm curious who else nearby is connected to one of them. Cadmus might be one of them, but I'd have to double-check."
Her hazel gaze became distant for a moment at the boy's concern over her broken arm as she recalled the battle against Merlinite... the echoes of pain when his weapon had cracked the bone in her forearm. A sobering reminder that both sides in this war were playing for keeps.
"Yeah, I'm okay," Asclepius told him quietly, offering a faint smile as she glanced back to him. "I've had the cast a while, so the bone should be almost healed. It just itches now, mostly."
Thinking of the Apollo asteroids, though, an idea struck her, and she climbed back to her feet carefully, and offered Cadmus a hand. "Actually, if you want to do some senshi work for tonight and still take it easy while you're not feeling well, I have a sort of ... secret hideout I could show you. And you could take it easy there if you need some time powered up and away from home."

Cadmus sat up as worry began to creep up on him, but his concern was quelled by the senshi's reassurances. "Oh... Ohhh. I see, I get it... I think," the chibi said. "I didn't think other senshi could be related. I thought, like, they were just big rock things floating in space. Have you—"
He began to ask her if she had been to hers, but he was silenced by the far away look in her eyes. At first, Cadmus thought he had angered her, but she again reassured him—this time of her well-being—causing him to shift in his seat and then pop up to his feet.
"Oh, that sounds like fun!" he said, almost cheered. "Having someplace to actually... To ah... To ah— Ah—" The boy sneezed loudly and huffed. Sniffling, he continued, "I was looking for someplace like that since I've been hanging out in, like, really weird places like this belltower and in the park, ahaha." He looked to her hand and then his own, wearily hovering it above hers. "A-are you sure?" he asked. "You might get sick and... I don't, um, really have any tissues..."

"Have you been to your space rock yet?" Asclepius asked, apparently not noticing or realizing that the boy had been about to ask about the same thing. "I've gotten ... visions sometimes when I go to mine, like flashes of old memories. It seemed like at least some of the last generation of senshi knew at least some of the others." She shrugged her mostly-bare shoulders slightly. "I've just sort of made a pet project of looking for other senshi of asteroids in the same group as mine."
She frowned at the stars again briefly, again shifting her cast to try to relieve the itch beneath it. "I guess it is a helpful reminder that we don't have to fight this war alone, at least."
The hazel-eyed girl then returned her attention to Cadmus, offering another sympathetic smile and a quiet, "Bless you," when he sneezed. "I work in a hospital, so my immune system is pretty good, I think," the Senshi of Medicine went on, though still stopped herself short of offering him a hand to help him up. "I definitely have tissues in my secret hide-out, though. I might even have a few cans of soup, too."
The place in question was some blocks off, but not too far from the park, in a quieter, if less well-maintained, part of town. Asclepius had taken up the top floor of a row-house, cleaning and furnishing it with decent furniture. A keypad mechanism controlled the door lock, which opened onto the flat roof of the adjacent building. There was an inside door, too, which had been similarly locked but also blocked off with a bookcase, indicating the girl's plan to avoid using it.
The main living room area was cozy but comfortable, with a sofa that was perhaps a bit too large for the room occupying one wall. The kitchen, large and open, merged with a small dining area, which was full of what looked like various pieces of a science experiment. There was also a bathroom and one main bedroom - furnished but not such that anyone lived there full-time - and a smaller office that also had a fold-out futon.
Once both senshi were inside and the door secured behind them, Asclepius ducked into a small closet briefly to retrieve a small box of tissues, then quickly shut the door again as a 36-pack of toilet paper on the top shelf threatened to fall on her.
