The familiar sound of letters being shoved through the front door of Sybil's townhome rang out loud and clear. She hated days like this, since she knew exactly why it went on for so long. It was that time of the month, where every place that knew her name sent her a letter.
Ms. Sybil, please send us your payment of ----. Your bill is overdue.
What did they expect her to do? Conjure up money out of thin air? It wasn't her fault that student loans were drowning her up to her eyeballs! And her little teaching aide job was barely allowing her to eat every day. They didn't seem to understand that a REAL teaching job would require teaching experience, which she just didn't have at this point. Aides were all she was good at apparently. Maybe the occasional substitute teacher position... Even if the kids loved her, educational politics seemed to keep a permanent position at bay.
It was no good to just let those letters sit there... Her roommate might flip a lid again for leaving a mess, and Sybil just did not have the capacity for her temper tantrums. Not today. Reluctantly she rose off of the comfy place in front of the TV with a blanket wrapped around her to grab the pile of mail sitting at the base of their front door.
And she was right. Bills, Bills, Bills, Penny saver, Bills, and... What in the world..?
Her hands grasped a letter from a sender she did not recognize... Romano's? It seemed to be some sort of advertisement, but from a school? The rest of the mail didn't matter; it's not as if she was going to pay her bills right now anyway since money didn't form out of thin air. So after tossing what was regarded as ‘trash’ for the time being on the kitchen counter, Sybil grabbed a cookie and flopped back down on her couch while looking the advertisement over.
What kind of odd god was listening to her prayers of work when they decided that she should be handed such a wonderful gift! They were looking for teacher! They needed people to teach a bunch of private students the ways of history… And it was at a high school level too! Though she lacked experience, all of those who had hired her previously knew she was enthusiastic about her field of study!
Heck, she was even willing to take up multiple classes if they let her! She had been in the military for a number of years after high school, and was able to quickly obtain her degree so she had the rank and experience...
This whole thing. It was perfect for her. And she wasn’t about to sit on the couch and lament her situation any more. It was time to get up and DO something! And this something would be calling the School and sending her information to them as soon as possible. She was ready for that interview. She was READY to actually make some money! The Debt collectors wouldn’t be after her for much longer!
