Sarabauite dropped down onto a bench with a plop and reached a hand over for the water bottle sitting on the edge, snapping the cap and taking a long swig from it. Ever since the tourney, she'd been putting in extra effort with her training. Though she made it far and went against a number of opponents, she still felt her skills were lacking, and thought of honing them in one of the lone training rooms of the castle.

Smearing sweat from her brow, she looked at her metal bookmark, and then returned it to its hammerspace as she took a well needed break. Leaning back, she exhaled deeply, and got lost in her thoughts.

Have I gotten stronger? she asked herself. Or have I just been exaggerating my abilities? Having something to confirm this would be good, ugh...

Hope this is fine!

The Castle was not Acanthite's first choice for places to spend large amounts of time. For starters, she was not allowed to wander, and it was not like she was terribly eager to, anyway. She was left now with a bit of time to ... well, not poke around, but to peek into the closest empty rooms just to see what they looked like. Then the dark senshi would go home, where she planned to take a shower to wash off the feeling of youmas' glares. She was not quite surprised to find the nearest room occupied - other agents came and went often enough - but signs of human life still stood out to her in the austerity of the dark fortress.

"Hello?" she ventured, to catch the other agent's attention. The room appeared to be for training, but it was large enough that the other girl already within hardly came close to filling it. She seemed to be taking a break, anyway. Acanthite stepped through the doorway and glanced around the room as she made her way over to her ally. Then, attempting to break the ice, she commented, "This... looks like it would be a great place to roller skate. Big and open, and just creepy enough to make me not want to stop."

"Oh!"

Sarabauite gave a small start, but the force jumped the water bottle from her hand and sent it rolling across the training room floor. Thankful that she had capped it, the she clumsily chased after it before stopping it beneath her heel.

She gave the corrupted senshi a smile, and said, "Y-yea, I know what you mean. Like, uh, a big haunted roller rink." Not justifying her level of creativity, she added, "I didn't feel anyone out there... or in here... or... Uh. Y'know what, let's just say I was busy. Training. Didn't think there'd be anyone else here." A pause. "I'm Sarabauite, a lieutenant. Kinda new to everything but kinda not. Um, you are...?"

"Oh, sorry," the corrupted senshi exclaimed. "I was just sort of poking around. I don't come here often because it creeps me out." She gave a small, sheepish laugh, and moved closer. After crouching to pick up the other girl's water bottle from the floor, she handed it back with a smile.

"Nice to meet you, Sarabauite," she then replied, with polite cheer. "I'm Acanthite. Senshi, but on your side. My thing is cataracts - like un-navigable rivers, not like the thing my grandma had surgery for last year. I've been around for a while, but...." The auburn-haired girl trailed off, sighing a little before admitting, "I don't feel like I've done anything too great recently. Just here dropping off energy I harvested, you know? Meeting my quota and that's about it."

Again feeling a creepy sensation of being watched from the windows, Acanthite glanced back over her shoulder, then twirled in a full circle to try to diffuse a bit of the nervous energy. When she was facing Sarabauite again, she shrugged a little and asked her, "Have you gotten into any good fights lately? I kind of hate looking for trouble, but I also don't want to let myself get out of practice."

Sarabauite shook her head, white locks lightly whipping at her cheeks as she took the bottle of water from the senshi. "N-nice to meet you as well, Acanthite," she said, reflecting her smile. Come the explanation of her sphere, the lieutenant reflexively pushed her glasses up a bit. "I was wondering that, ahaha."

She had turned in-between the senshi's words to place the bottle back on the end of the bench. Humming out a note, she said, "It's been... the same for me. Meeting quota is daunting, but a must... Always a must..." She sighed. "They really work us hard."

She blinked at Acanthite's nervousness, unable to decipher the cause of it. There was also the notion she couldn't share the same sentiment; to her, Negaspace felt like a second home. Maybe it was because of all of the Chaos energy?

She nodded her head twice to her question. "I've got... a fair number of battles under my wing," she replied. "N-not against members of Order, though. Other agents. There was a tourney held recently and I got... pretty far. I didn't win, unfortunately, but I did learn a lot about fighting. Got better at it too." She pushed her glasses up again. "Though looking for a fight isn't my cup of tea either."

"I guess I do kind of enjoy it once I get going, though," the grey-eyed girl mused, clenching her fists experimentally. Then she turned her arm around to point out a bruise on the back of her upper arm, large but mostly healed, greenish in the center fading out to blend with her natural skintone. "When I'm being normal, I'm into roller derby, and that's where I'm used to letting myself go. That's where most of these come from."

A thought struck her then, and she mulled it over in her mind - this whole persona she wore for the Negaverse was a supremely complete disguise, better than any costume and derby name Mayumi could put on. Maybe she had been treating this energy gathering and so forth too much like a job at school and less like the battle it was. Perhaps that was the next barrier she needed to break for herself.

"Hey," Acanthite exclaimed after a moment. "Wanna have a go, just you and me for practice?" A devious grin tugged at the corner of her mouth and this time when she curled her fingers into fists, she focused on making sure they were for business, wrists straight and knuckles lined up. "I can throw a little magic if you want, too, since it's something I'll have to be able to do and you'll have to be able to deal with when we're out there fighting for real."

Sarabauite winced at the sight of the bruise, but her eyebrows quirked just a bit as the remark of getting into it once the fray started. While she couldn't quite understand the appeal of such a venture while human, she did while powered up. "I'm a plain homebody when I'm human," she said. "Don't do much besides read... This part of me is definitely my release. It'd be a little weird for a typically meek girl to be throwing punches."

She chuckled sheepishly at her own joke before lowering her hand down by her waist. There a noticeable glint to her eye then, and while she felt a little ashamed that despite admitting she didn't like fighting, it certainly tickled her fancy when she was in the mood. Her recent training had the adrenaline pumping through her and to finalize it with an actual fight inspired her. Especially with the added challenge of magic, something she never went up against before.

"All right," she replied as a smile tugged at her lips. She turned her palm upward and her metal bookmark dropped down into it. "G-give me your best, magic-wise. It'd... be a first, so I'd like to see how dangerous it is." She beckoned her forth. "You can start."

"Supremely dangerous," Acanthite bragged with a slight laugh. She took up a fighting stance, crouching for better balance like she was on roller skates and curling her fingers into fists. "I'll wait a little so you're not expecting it before I go throwing my spell, though."

A determined grin formed on her lips as the other girl beckoned, and she quirked a brow slightly when her bookmark appeared - an interesting choice of weapon, to say the least. Then, drawing one fist back, she rushed towards Sarabauite to close the distance, and aimed a punch at her midsection once she was close enough.

Of her fighting deficits, there were two Sarabauite was conscious of: her slowness and her openness. What she lacked in speed and defense, she made up for in strength and forbearance, but all four were required in battle. When the senshi launched herself in the lieutenant's direction, she didn't have enough time to dodge, and took the punch to her midsection. She puffed out a breath and grunted at the pain; the area of impact feeling like a stone firmly planted in her abdomen.

However, Sarabauite had learned something from her battles in the tourney: close combat was her key. With the metal bookmark held tight in her grip, she slashed in a wide arc at Acanthite's shoulder to chest. An apology nearly left her lips; she detested hurting other members of Chaos, even in the midst of a spar.

So to make herself feel a little bit better, she stuttered out, "G-good punch," while trying to ignore the pain.

Acanthite nearly apologized for the hit, still surprised at how much more powerful she felt while powered up. She tried to remind herself that this was just like roller derby - some exchange of bruises, but in the end, all for fun. Their super forms could take up more damage than normal, too.

Still, she had over-committed a bit on that first hit, and could only throw up an arm in defense as the other girl slashed back with her bookmark. The Senshi of the Cataract hissed between her teeth as the little weapon left a shallow stinging cut across her forearm and one bare shoulder, mentally scolding herself for not leaving room to dodge.

"You, too," the grey-eyed girl responded, as she hopped back a short distance, to lick a bit of blood from her arm and reconsider her tactics. "That thing is sharper than it looks." Silly as their weapons might be, her fellow agents were little different from the White Moon's squires, and she probably needed the reminder to take them both seriously.

When she moved in again for another attack, this time Acanthite went low, crouching as she attempted to knock the other girl's feet out from under her. Quick, but not as heavy as the last assault.

The tip of Sarabauite's bookmark has a small swipe of blood on the edge, and she cleaned it on the chest of her uniform from the comment. "I actually thought this thing would be useless," she replied. "I guess I've been proven wrong."

For just an idle second, her mind wandered as she thought of just how powerful it might become when she ranked up and got a better weapon, but her thoughts were cut short when her legs were kicked from under her. She fell like a stack of blocks; landing on her tailbone and hissing in pain. Sarabauite came to a conclusion then: The floors to the training rooms were certainly made of a hard, hard stone.

The only option she could find here was to swiftly charge forward; hoping to tackle Acanthite down to the ground with her, and against her better judgement that was now fueled with the intent to defend herself, press the side of the bookmark against Acanthite's neck in a threat.

If there was one thing the grey-eyed girl had learned from derby, it was how to fall. Sarabauite definitely caught her by surprise, but Acanthite managed to twist enough to land a bit more comfortably than her adversary had. ... That said, the stone floor was still not her first choice of places to land, and she winced at a bruised elbow before freezing with the Negaverse agent's bookmark at her throat.

"Touché," she remarked, the grin on her lips indicating that she was at least not hurting badly enough to stop just yet. With a sudden motion, the Senshi of the Cataract struck out with the heel of her hand at the other girl's arm, aiming to knock the bookmark or the hand that held it away from her skin so she could try to slip away and get some distance.
