Azguard had been making himself busy, freeing up his time when Elliot would need him most. It was getting close. He still didn't have a clue what to do with a pregnant mare, let alone it was his best friend. He knew one thing, he had to get their baskets which left him leaving Elliot alone.
The large stallion had run as fast as he could to retrieve them but bringing back three, just in case, was harder than he originally thought. It just wasn't possible to transport them alone. He found assistance in a random Soquili who helped him carry them back to the secluded meadow where he had left her. When he arrived, Elliot was resting in a pond to ease her discomfort. He gave thanks to the stallion that helped him out, setting down the baskets by a massive tree. He nodded his head to the stallion, quietly asking for their space. With heavy hoof steps, he tredded carefully to the pond, standing quietly nearby.
Elliot turned her head to slowly glance over to the large figure standing presidence to watch her while staying at a distance on the bank. She smiled, "You can come closer. They can't hurt you" she teased. The only response she received was a snort. Adjusting her legs, she manuvered around to face him before her slow gait pulled her out of the water. Her stomach was large and moving heavily with kicks. She came up to him and nuzzled against his neck reassuring him. It must not have been easy for him to get the baskets but if she could count on anyone, it would have been him. However, as much as she might have desperately needed it, she didn't receive affection from Azguard. She knew better.. but she had secretly hoped for just a moment, being excited for foals, that he might.

She made him nervous! Every time Elliot would lay down to rest or move to the pond, he would worry something would happen. Her steps were slow and she was heavy to leave her vulnerable. He had asked her how others managed to do this whole pregnancy thing. She giggled at him and said she didn't know. The days were drawing closer and he stood by impatiently, feeling his own vulnerability that he couldn't help further. He had brought a mare who could help, it was the last thing he could do. Now it was a game of waiting. He gradually paced around the meadow, using his size as a sort of intimidation to anyone who might have noticed his friend.
Elliot was relieved to see another face besides Azguard's. She welcomed the mare and expressed all of her concerns. It was amusing he went out to find her and a little curious how he talked a herd into letting him pull away their sister. The mare was beautiful with long red hair and a cream coat. It was a couple of days in her presence that put Elliot more at ease. Her stress passed through her like a deep breath being let out slowly.
The day had come and Elliot listened to everything the other mare told her. It was a long rough process. After hours of waiting, the mare gently called to Azguard for the baskets. He brought them over one by one as they were called for. Each foal gently placed inside until three baskets were covered and placed beside Elliot. She looked shocked at all three for a mere moment then laid her head beside them, exhausted. For the rest of the night she could rest and knew they would all be safe.

Stood close by, shifting his gaze from their surroundings to the three baskets. He was apprehensive to approach and look at them closely. He kept pacing as quietly as he could so his heavy hooves wouldn't wake the family. His family. It was a weird feeling to know he was now a father. He had been busy trying to make his idea work. Delivering to Soquili across the lands. Now he was staring down his life and the path it was following, a fork in the road. Even if he wasn't in love with Elliot, he wouldn't just abandon her or the foals. And in that.. it would be hard to do the job he loved for awhile. Half way into the night he stopped to drag the deer skin from the human camp nearby, over to his friend. Tugging it up high over her, he laid it out to cover her as the cool winds blew in. He made slow and careful steps to move around and lay himself down on the other side of the baskets making a circle around them for warmth.

Elliot stayed close to the baskets through the day even though she knew Azguard wouldn't let them out of his sight for a moment. The parents were anxious and excited. Well she was. She still couldn't read the stallion on his emotions. She would just pick a mood for him. Anxious. Yes that seemed to suit him. He had been pacing around the meadow for several days now.
She picked some lush grass and flowers and brought them over to him. "You should eat" she urged him. When he didn't budge, the mare scowled at him briefly "It won't do them any good if you keel over hungry." She got a look in response and her friend finally bent for a mouthful. Turning, she would walk away back to her lovely baskets that had change to colors matching the small foals inside them. She laid down beside them and sung a song she had heard in her past, soft and soothing. Leaning down she gently rubbed her snout against the top and sides of each basket.
