Taiki: was walking amongst the shadow of the trees. His flames and eyes glowing a bright blue he had just finished getting some water and was considering taking a nap. But he first wanted to check on the trees health and how the forest was doing. His lack of a friendship made him sad but he kept hope that one day he find friendship and others who would appreciate him and not fear him or his flame gift.

Xo: Xochitl Cuahtla was completely and utterly exhausted. Due to the heavy rain and wind storm that had passed through the forest a few days ago, she has not been able to sleep. All her time has been dedicated to cleaning up the forest, treating the wounded, and rehoming the animals that had lost their homes to the storm. Her little den was filled with creatures; she would not have been able to sleep even if she had time to do so. Xo promised herself that she would get some sleep that night, but first she had to check on her roses. The green mare knew that they were durable and could handle a storm, but still she worried, for they were her pride and joy, a skill passed down to her by her father and brother. “Hello my darlings, I am sorry that I did not get here sooner.” She cooed at the roses as she checked them over.

Taiki: kept walking he was enjoying the walk and time. The forest hums of movement allowed him to enjoy the songs of the tree branches and few birds. He started humming about eyeing the dark trees and forest. Taiki smiled and hummed a lullaby he had once heard he looked up ahead seeing what could be around he decided he try to look at the sky from the gaps of the high trees. Yet he heard a voice and turned trying to hear where it was his blue eyes began to search for where the voice came from.

Xo: She was so engrossed in caring for her flowers that she did not notice the glow within the forest, signifying the approach of another in the woods. “It does not appear that you were harmed by the winds and rain,” Xo gave a sigh of relief, one less thing to fix during this mess. “I’m glad you are safe, I would have been heartbroken if anything happened to you.” Many would blame the talking to plants on fatigue, but Xo would not use that excuse, since she talked to them every day; she felt that it helped them grow better and at times, it was nice talking to something that did not chirp, yowl, or talk back.

Taiki: now he was sure he heard voices and such a calming one at that. He followed it eager to see who it was and who she was talking too. It was then he saw a mare tending to a garden him humming slowed and he noticed the beauty of the flowers how well tended they were. He stayed behind the dark tree so as to not scare the mare but peered his head in her direction and said "hello who might you be and this lovely garden belong too" he asked calmly hoping as to not frighten the mare but he was curious in his mind how something so lovely grew on the back end side of this forest.

Xo: The mare blinked, was she really that exhausted that she was starting to hear the roses talk back to her? No, because what the roses said did not make sense, they knew whose garden it was and who she was. Slowly she turned around, only to see a head peaking around a tree. Her eyebrows shot up, “Why are you hiding? I may be sleep deprived but I don’t bite. And this garden belongs to me, the guardian of this forest, Xochitl Cuahtla, or Xo for short. Who might you be, Oh Floating Head Within the Shadows?”

Taiki: smiled and giggled it was the first time he had someone call him oh floating head within the shadows. He peered and saw the tired mare but how calm she was. "It's nice to meet you Xo I have never meet a guardian of a forest before he bowed a bit his blue flame slightly appearing. I have traveled much through the shadows of this forest it's a rare encounter for me to meet others my name is Taiki it's a pleasure. You have a lovely garden Xo." He said with a smile backing up his flames hoping they would not startle Xo

Xo: The tired mare could have sworn she had seen a blue flicker of light, was she seeing the Will-o’-the-wisp that liked to play in ancient woods? No, the light was actually coming from the stallion. She was too tired to be startled at the light, “Please tell me you can’t start a forest fire with those.” Any other day she would have accepted the challenge, but now all she wanted to do was rest and not add another thing to her already mountain high to do list. Distracted from the conversation for a minute, “huh? Oh right, it is a pleasure to meet you too Taiki.” She beamed at him when he praised her garden, “Thank you; it is my pride and joy.” Xo tried to get her tired brain to focus, 48 hours without sleep was not helping out her manners and cognitive ability, “You said you were uh… traveling through the shadows of this wood for quite a while, was there something you were looking for in particular?”

Taiki: well the cats out of the bag now he thought and stepped out his eyes glowing. "These flames oh no no they won't harm anything unless I tell them too. They are quite harmless I just often keep them hidden many judge them as threatening so I don't like to come out unless I know who I'm speaking you can come and touch them to be sure if you like. Yes I have and no I guess more I'm traveling in the shadows to avoid being judged and figure out where I belong in the world and who is friend and who is foe." He said with a smile as now his full body was visible

Xo: She was not acting how she normally would; usually she was silent and let the music of the world surround her and she would not interrupt it with her voice. But when she was tired, she talked. Talked to plants, to herself, and to what appeared a stallion who was on fire. Xo had to blink a few times to make sure she was actually seeing what her brain was telling her that she was seeing. The green mare cocked her head to the side as she considered the stallion and his words, “That is a wise thing to do if you worry about how others will treat you, but I imagine that it is also a lonely path that you walk. For if you are constantly hiding in the shadows, how will you meet anyone, be they friend or foe?”

Taiki: smiled and walked over to the garden and observed it while listening. He then said "it may be a lonely path but it's one I walk out of choice for how can you really trust those around you. If they look at you as a monster or actually really want to be your friend. I mean look at me I have shiny eyes and flames that are a part of me and you seem like a beautiful priestess. Plus you have a beautiful garden but I think that you seem a bit tired. Is everything alright for you xo. Taiki wanted to check and smiled.

Xo: “If I thought that way, not trusting any of those around me, then I would not be a very good guardian. Although… when I was younger I did have gullible tendencies, so I guess it is just how I am.” Her tired eyes widened at the complement and she smiled at him, “A beautiful priestess eh? Thank you for that.” Xochitl gently touched her roses with a wing tip as he gave the complement to her black roses, “It has been a long forty eight hours. I haven’t been able to sleep since the storm passed.”

Taiki: "yeah I guess that's true I'm just stubborn minded in that since with a lag of socially knowing really how others are like. So your a guardian how does that go for you he asked." He smiled walking up to eye the roses more closely his flames dancing in glow to the black roses. It was a pretty sight he then returned his attention to xo. "No need to thank me it's the truth and yes it was a good size storm. If you been up that long why are you tending to a garden and not sleeping. As this gardens guardian and the forest you should be well rested." He stated not like it helped him he thought knowing he too had been up for a while as well.

Xo: She looked at the woods that was her domain with her golden eyes, “I love what I do here. Taking care of the trees and those who call this forest home. Yes at times it could be exhausting, but it is rewarding and worth every sleepless night.” The mare was not sure she had ever been called beautiful before, it made her cheeks heat up and an uncharacteristic shyness come over her. Quickly she squashed the unusual shyness; she did not have time for that silliness right now. “There hasn’t been a storm like that in years. We did have some warning, so the damage was not as bad as it could have been, but there was still extensive destruction. Many lost their homes, so I have been helping to rehome them. I would go home and rest, but it is filled with the displaced forest creatures; I came to my garden to make sure it survived the winds and the rain, also it was a quiet place to rest for a bit.” She looked at the stallion, he did not exactly wear his fatigue like she did, but she could tell he was tired as well, “It seems you haven’t slept much either.”

Taiki: was impressed by her speech and love for the forest if only he could trust things as greatly as xo did. She wore a specific proudness around her that allowed him to be at ease in a sense compared to his normal moodiness. He looked up and said "I bet you the animals and forest are very grateful to you and how proud you are of your job. Maybe at some point you can show me more of what you do as a guardian. Yes at least there was warning I guess the shadows and darker side of the forest fared better than I thought. Our damage wasn't as intense but not many viewed the shadows as home I did check with the trees how they stood. If your in need of shelter and to sleep maybe after some conversation I can guide you to a cave." He smiled "I haven't but that's of not much concern I will be fine after a few hour catnap don't you worry" he said with a smile
