Weekly RP Prompts We know it can sometimes be a bit difficult to come up with with RP ideas that grab your attention and bring your characters to life while you're trying to grow all those Freshlings. So, once a week, staff will provide a prompt in this thread - a theme for the week, if you will. Anyone with a certed character can participate!
Here's how it will work:
In this thread, every Monday evening, the weekly prompt will be posted. This will include a setting, a situation, and special prefix for your thread title.
Find an RP partner and start a thread in the Roleplay board.
RP over the course of the next seven days, and try to wrap up the thread once the week is over.
Threads made based on these prompts will not enter you for any prize, but they do count for RP points and growths.
All regular NMA and RP rules apply.
You may respond to the prompts with an RP partner, or you may RP your own characters together!
You may respond to the prompts any number of times, with any combination of characters.
If you need an RP partner, please PM smolderingskies and we will try to get you paired up with someone!
Tips and tricks:
Post in the main NMA thread or PM smolderingskies if you're looking for an RP partner!
Keep posts light, between 100-200 words to make RP fun, fast, and easy while still counting for growths and RP points.
Try RPing in Skype or AIM, and then posting the results in a thread! (Many people find IM platforms to be much faster when it comes to RPing)
Of course, your threads do not have to be finished in a week! However, you may find it's more productive for you to set a deadline with your RP partner so the thread doesn't go on for months. (Basically: You can do this either "casual" or "intense.")

week 1
June 6-12, 2016 The science teacher at the Academy has managed to get a field trip approved by Ava. Destination? The nearest beach! Everyone's very excited, and packs their swimsuits and bag lunches for a day of combing tide pools for sand dollars and playing in the waves.
Character 1 wanders away from the group at dinner time and finds an old, rusty treasure chest half-buried in the sand. Character 2, curious to find out what they were doing, had followed them. How will they react? What will the pair decide to do?

week 2
June 13-20, 2016 Today has been an incredibly hot day, so much that the particularly sensitive members of the aquatic races have needed to have pool breaks in-between classes. At the end of the day, the Health and PE teachers have decided to open up the pool to anyone who can fit for a few hours after school. They recruit a few advanced swimming students to trade shifts as lifeguards for extra credit.
In an effort to impress or get the attention of the cute lifeguard, in the midst of the chaos Character 1 jumps into the pool and pretends to drown. Character 2 notices their flailing arms before the lifeguard and jumps in to the rescue!
OR
Character 1 is one of the lifeguards, and they've taken the last shift of the day. There's only a few kids left in the pool and they watch, pretty bored, until they see Character 2 standing on the steps, half-in the water, looking scared to death. Character 2 has never swam in their life, but they want to learn. Character 1 offers to teach them.

week 3
June 20-27, 2016 To celebrate the end of the school year, a few teachers have decided to put on a cookout party for all the kids! Colorful flower decorations litter the Academy courtyard, and everyone is invited. Is that your mathematics teacher grilling a hot dog? Your language arts teacher pouring the drinks? It's a lighthearted event meant to encourage students to take care of themselves mentally as finals approach. There are activities happening everywhere: three-legged races, tug-of-war, water balloons, a ring toss, and there's rumors that after the sun goes down there might even be a volleyball game lit by fairy lights!
Prompts:
Character 1 is sitting on a blanket, eating their favorite cookout food and idly watching the festivities, when suddenly Character 2 runs by and faceplants into the ground in front of them! What was C2 doing? How will C1 react?
OR
Character 1 has waited for what seems like forever in the heat just to grab an ice pop. Just as they reach the bin, they notice the very last of their favorite flavor sitting on the top! But it's snatched from right under their hands by Character B, who was standing behind them the whole time and apparently had the same favorite flavor, and who is now running away with the ice pop in their hand.

week 4
October 17-23, 2016 It's mid-October, and everyone is prepping for Haunted Hallows! Many of our real-world traditions are similar, including Trick-or-Treating, carving pumpkins, and wearing costumes. As the weather becomes chilly and the leaves fall more frequently, everyone is bustling to get their holiday preparations in order.
Character 1 is so excited to carve pumpkins for Haunted Hallows! They buy a gourd and set up a station for themselves in the courtyard of the Academy, complete with little safety knives and pumpkin scoopers. Character 2 is walking back from class when they see Character 1 cutting open the top of a pumpkin.... but Character 2 has never carved a pumpkin before! How will they react?

week 5
October 24-30, 2016 It's getting later in October, and everyone is prepping for Haunted Hallows! It's getting to be almost too late to buy costumes, but those last-minute slackers have finally made their decisions and headed to various stores. One of the most popular seasonal Haunted Hallows stores is called Psyche, and it's full of all sorts of spooky decorations and slinky garb!
Prompt:
Character 1 and Character 2 are shopping for costumes (together or not) at a popular seasonal Haunted Hallows store called Psyche. They both try on their first costume of the trip, and step out into the mirrored portion of the dressing area. When they see each others' costume, neither can help but react! What is your kid wearing? What do they think of the other's costume?

week 6
October 31-November 6, 2016 Haunted Hallows is upon us, and everyone is ready to celebrate! There are so many activities to do tonight, and as always, the Academy is the place to be on a holiday evening. Freshlings (and some Juniors) go Trick-or-Treating, while the older students and even some adults come to explore different aspects of the festival! What is your kid doing tonight?
Prompts:
Freshling: Character 1 and Character 2 are in the same Trick-or-Treating group, when they see a really spooky-looking house in the distance! They break off from the group to investigate, but before they know it... oh no, they're lost! How will they find the group again?
Junior & Senior: Some talented Grendel students have put together a spooky haunted house in one of the older Academy buildings! The robed usher at the front door is only letting people through in groups of ten. Your characters are in the same group, and are exploring the attraction together. What horrors will they see?

week 7
November 7-13, 2016 The weather is really starting to get cold in Asphodel Gardens. Now that the festivities of Haunted Hallows have begun to wind down, students are settling back into their studies, and adults are getting ready to provide for their family for winter. It's a quiet time of year, but that doesn't mean it has to be silent! What's happening this week?
Prompt:
Character 1 opens their closet one chilly morning to find that they threw out all their winter clothes during spring cleaning, and never got around to buying new ones! They throw on a t-shirt and the warmest pair of pants they can find and run to the nearest clothing store, where they bump into Character 2. Is Character 2 also wearing clothes they'll freeze in? Or do they judge Character 1 for their clearly seasonless style?

week 8
November 14-20, 2016 Even though the weather is cold, it's not yet cold enough to freeze a lake. However, a few kids at the Asphodel Gardens Academy have been itching to play in the ice and cold! They pitch in and create an evening trip to the local ice skating rink, which is complete with loud music, junk food, and rentable ice skates.
Prompt:
Character 1 has never gone ice skating before, and they're clinging to the edge of the ring with wobbling knees and aching feet. Character 2 skates by a few times, watching them struggle, before deciding to swoop in and give them a hand.

week 9
November 21-27, 2016 With finals coming up fast, the cafeteria works at the Academy have decided to make a comfort food from each one of the races' culture, creating a feast one evening on the Academy grounds! The cafeteria is warm and full of cheerful people who are all sharing this lovely meal together.
Prompt:
Character 1 grabs their food and heads to a table that is still mostly empty, when Character 2 shows up and sits next to them. Character 2 is eating a food Character 1 has never seen, let alone thought it was appetizing! Gross! What will they do?

week 10
November 28-December 4, 2016 The first snow of the year has fallen! Although it wasn't a very big snowstorm, classes have been cancelled so everyone can enjoy the soft, fluffy-looking powder that has come down from the sky. Some kids have never seen snow like this before!

Character 1 is so ready for a snow day! They begin to play in the snow, and amidst their joy they throw a snowball at Character 2. Oops! How will Character 2 react?

week 11
December 5-11, 2016 Someone is offering horse-drawn carriage rides in the town center outside of the Academy! Since horse-drawn carriages are kind of an antiquated thing, it can be really exciting and even romantic. The sounds of clip-clopping hooves can be heard throughout the whole area.

Character 1 and Character 2 are shopping together, when they hear those lovely hoof sounds! Will they decide to take a sleigh ride together?

week 12
December 12-18, 2016 Gift Giving Day and the Winter Solstice are coming up quicker than some Nightmares or Daydreams bargained for! It seems the entire town is hectic over rushing to stores and picking out the perfect gifts. The stores are crowded, and holiday music plays loudly over the speakers of shopping centers and malls.
Prompt:
Character 1 has decided on a gift for their best friend, and when they get to the store, they find themselves lucky - there's the last one on the shelf! But when they walk up to grab it, Character 2 runs in front of them, clearly intent on snatching it for themselves!

week 13
December 19-25, 2016 Oh boy, it's finally the Winter Solstice! Lots of people in town have decorated their houses very nicely, and some people have taken to walking through the streets at night to look at the crystalline lights. On a lesser level, some Academy students have started a door decorating contest!
Prompt:
Character 1 has been ready for this door decorating contest for, like, weeks. As soon as they're allowed, they start to put decorations on their door. However, as they're leaving the dorm building one day, they see Character 2's door... which is decorated almost identically! What will they do?
