There was a clearing near the swamp that the rebels often utilitized for training purposes. Drills, sparring matches, and general roughhouse get-togethers. Tonight, it resembled more of a hatchingday party. Multi coloured balloons swayed in the muggy air, tied to low bushes. An assortment of wooden and (alarmingly hard) foam weapons are tossed under a tree, which shaded a picnic table lined with various flavours of juiceboxes.

The whole set up was rather questionable. The explanation was simple, though; each of the younger rebels had received a letter of invitation, delivered by one of Odette's precious wingbeasts. Sealed with a rainbow smiley face sticker, it simply read:

Quote:
ATTENTION CHILD:
You are invited to a training session along with your peers to be held by myself in a week's time. Attendance is not mandatory, but encouraged. Please bring your weapon. If you do not have one, it will be provided. Juice will also be provided.
- Akko M.

Lingering nearby the snacks was none other than Byakko herself. Quick to the point as always, she launches into her explanation. The children are to come at her, full force, with the intent of knocking her over to the ground. Here's the kicker- she'll be blindfolded! Simple, right? With a dismissive wave of her foam bat, Byakko adds she'll be defending with that, so they shouldn't get hurt. Much. She doesn't really care if you use your weapon or an alternative.

Wandering over to the middle of the clearing, Byakko slipped the blindfold on her face and gestured for the kids to follow. "Come on, then! Take me down."

Byakko has invited the younguns' for a night of fun training! Older rebels are more than welcome to watch, but if they try and join in Byakko will promptly hand them their own a**.

Akko: 100/100

Roll a 1d6 to attack your blindfolded leader, kids!
1: you can't even muster up the courage to strike. You just linger back behind the others and Freak Out a little.
2: you run full force at Byakko! And... trip over a root, soaring through the air like the phoenix itself.
3: you make contact with Byakko. Or rather, her foam weapon. "I can hear you approaching," she barks sharply, batting away your small child body with ease.
4: you manage to push past the others and wail on Byakko's lower body as hard as you can. She kicks you away. You suddenly understand why she took off her wooden sandals. Do 1 damage.
5: using one of the others as a meatshield, you block Byakko's swipes and pop out to give her the ol' one-two. That being said, do 2 damage.
6: you feel the flames of the phoenix burning through your body! With a war cry befitting one of the Initiative, you strike with decisive intent. Byakko lets out a surprised grunt and stumbles backward. "Good job!" Do 3 damage.

...Huh. Even blindfolded, it seems like Akko's senses outmatch the stumbling advances of the young disorganised rebels. But maybe if they could figure out a way to gain the upper hand, they could turn those (roll) tables...

Roll 1d6 with your team for a synchronised attack! You must all post separately, working in tandem to circle Akko and bring her down. Take the number of total teammates in your group (yourself + members) and add it onto your final score.

1: you realize much too late that you ran in prematurely, as Byakko parries you with away with ease. However, you provided a much needed distraction for a teammate!
2: you miss your chance to dart in and hit your mark, but this time, clue in and avoid running hazardously into Akko's bat. Instead, safely out of her range, you cheer on one of your teammates.
3: you see an opening at the back of Akko's famed legs thanks to your team. Tackling them, you send her reeling forward, but she remains standing and kicks you away. Deal 1 damage.
4: your group is coordinating their attacks to avoid the brunt of Akko's counters. You personally avoid her altogether, striking with expertise for 2 damage.
5: Watching the others attack, you wait for the opportune moment of your own. Akko turns away to fend off your team. That time is now. Deal 3 damage.
6: you take complete command of the battlefield. Under your instructions your team pushes Akko towards a knee-level, unmovable boulder in the clearing- which you then attempt to push her backwards over. Deal 4 damage.

This isn't a real battle, just a silly minigame! There are no HP or energy mechanics, although you may only roll once per day. The mini game portion will simply close at the end of the month. Midway through, (or earlier, depending on how things play out!), a second mechanic will be introduced. ;3c

Poe was excited to get the invite! He was going to have to know how to fight, especially since he's chosen the dangerous life of a rebel. And also, it seemed like it would be sort of fun to try and take down the rebel leader, even if she was blindfolded. He cleaned up his shears (so if he did hit Byakko with then she wouldn't get anything gross on her), and made his way to the center of the clearing.

The best course of action, clearly, is to try and ram into her full force. Running, Poeias leaped towards Byakko, his shears firmly grasped in his metal hand, ready to attack. Before he could make anything close to contact, he tripped over something that caught his leg, and went sprawling head over heels in the dust.

"Ack!" Poe coughed. He sat up, feeling a bit dizzy and disoriented, his shears still thankfully in his hand. So much for that! But still, he had to always get up when he got knocked over. The only way to win a fight!

Eyzaak was pumped as all hell after he asked someone to tell him what the hell the letter he'd found even said. First he'd just been excited to get mail, the problem of what it said was easy enough to resolve. He was too impatient to try and do it himself. Yet he had all but screamed quite literally when he'd been informed what the invite entailed. Of COURSE he was down to fight, and he'd get to hang out with some other kids maybe!

Dashing off to go collect a 'weapon' he selected a nerf gun, snatching it up with eager delight before some other troll decided they wanted his new prize. Grinning wildly, the small boy charged off clambering onto a nearby rock. Leaping off it, he gave a mighty roar as he took aim, firing as he lined up his site.

After he'd taken his shot, he was pleased to see it hit home! He even was rewarded with a "Good Job" from their Leader. The boys eyes gleamed with pride as he beamed up at her with his crooked smile. Even if she couldn't see it given she was blindfolded he didn't care. "HA! Got you!" Eyzaak announced.

Watching a kid with sheers run, the blueblood cringed when the kid tripped and went tumbling across the ground. Moving over to the greenblood who had ate it hardcore, the blueblood crouched down beside the other as he sat up. "Owch dude, bummer. Hey, you cool?" He asked leaning over to prod at the older boy with his nerf gun...checking on him essentially.

It wasn't like they hadn't sparred before. Hell, most of the time sparring with Merm took up a good portion of their down time. It was, however, really fun to be in a group and doing it. He waited until she gave the go and lunged forward, punching at her long legs.

And was immediately kicked off. He arched gloriously in the air and landed in a rolling heap. Maneki blinked a few times to get the stars out of his eyes before sitting up and letting out a raucous laugh, "THAT WAS FUN."

"Poepoe, you okay? Oh, Eezy. You did good too!" Maneki stood and shook the dirt off himself.

Poe swatted at the plastic gun and rubbed the back of his head, laughing. "Aha, ice cold! I think I'm okay. I fall down sometimes, but, I actually tripped over something when I was running..." He turned back towards where he tripped, not that he could see what it was. Probably just a root that snagged on his shoes though.

He stood up and started dusting himself off, glad to hear the voice of his friend Maneki and waved. "Hey! Well, at least you could say that, I always have friends to fall back on!" He beamed at his own joke. "It sounds like you did a better job than I did getting Byakko."

Eyzaak lifted his gun up, shouldering it over his backside. With the others laughing it off he stood back up himself convinced the other troll was just fine. Snorting at his joke, the younger boy slapped a hand over his mouth laughing a little at the intrusive laughter fit. "That is pretty chilly huh? Good thing those sheers are wicked." He looked amused as he tried to get an idea of the other kid could even see with that rack of horns like that. "Huh?..Oh yeah here." He followed were the kid had been, and found the root easily enough giving it a yank to remove the hindrance perhaps for future kids coming this way.

Grinning at the older troll boy who greeted him with a nickname following the greenblood, Eyzaak nudged at the other as he burst into laughter. Maneki had played with many of the smaller grubs, Eyzaak was no exception. As they grew around the mothergrub, they sometimes had visitors. Some just happened to be more involved than others. "Yo! Nice going by the way Maneki!" He looked back to the pinkblood who had summoned for them.

Clasping a hand on the "PoePoe's" shoulder (what was the kids name, he'd only ever heard him referred to as Poe maybe that was his name.) when he said Maneki had done better than him. "Man at least you can always try again, Poe it's alright. All of us will get another shot."

Akkira found that the loafers that lived around her hive were good for one thing, reading letters she herself could not read. Some of them were willing to work with her and tell her what the note was about. She couldn't wait for this and with a confident smile that was only faltered when the young blind girl tripped on a tree root she got ready for the battle. This was what her lusus was training her for after all. Battles, even if this wasn't a real one she could still brag about it later.

She was quiet for a few moments, trying to get an idea of what was around her by the sounds of the trolls around here. She heard some troll squeak and then a swoosh sound and after a moment of hesitation Akkira bumped up against the nearest troll to keep from getting the full brunt of whatever it was. They sounded sturdy enough, besides it wasn't like the were going to die or anything, right? Well they could, but oh well, a sacrifice for a game well won. After that she pushed the colder troll to the side and swung at Byakko with her Bokken a piercing screech coming from the small redblood. "HYAAAHHH!"

Despite what the letter had said, this meeting was mandatory.

Standing further back in the crowd of kids, Tevini surveyed the collection of soft weapons with a slight scowl. She didn't enjoy these kinds of athletic things or getting hurt. This eliminated all of the close combat choices. She didn't have the arm strength for a bow so she was left with the nerf gun. It didn't have the same speed and action she would have liked, however. Tevini carried a nail gun around with her in case she were to get attacked again. After the chase through those tunnels... No wonder Byakko was calling them all here, she wanted them to be prepared for next time.

'If that's the case...' The redblood took a seat on Scuttle and reached inside his shell to pull out her small portable tool kit. Letting the other kids take a crack at their leader, Tevini analyzed her nerf gun and determined what quick adjustments she wanted to make. Then quickly, she unscrewed a few choice pieces and began to tweak the design. Nothing too outlandish, this would just allow her to shoot faster, with more force.

'Here goes.' Screwing the gun back together, Tevini placed her tools away and turned to the target. Byakko stood with her foam bat and blindfold, ready for action. She wasn't ready for this. Taking aim with nervous hands, the girl told herself to be brave for Byakko and...

Bullseye! The bullet shot straight at Byakko's forehead with an unusual amount of force for a plastic totato fry.

Bludgeoning people with stupid foam weapons? Hell yeah he would be there! A proud and cocky purpleblood tested the weight of the bat in his hand as Keionx had taught him to do. It was time to see if the training he had undergone was paying off. Tevini seemed to be doing something with her lusus and Cerpin decided to leave her be. He'd learned not to question the inventor, lest she turn her weird unconventional tools on him.

"Hah, nice hits!" The others were going ahead of him, some of them more clumsy than others. A blueblood landed a solid hit and the rockstar took note of this. Cerpin would bother him later to see who was stronger between the two of them. Seeing an opening in Byakko's literal blind spot, he dashed in, tossing his weapon at her to throw her off guard.

"I'll be- taking that!" Rather than any sensible approach like attacking her ankles or face, Cerpin opted to grab at Byakko's own weapon while she dealt with the bat he'd flung at her stomach. His hands gripped onto it tightly for a few seconds before she managed to swat him away. She was still much stronger and bigger than him, it would take more than brute force to win!

Taking a step back to pick up another weapon, he glanced out at the trees, wondering if she could see him from there in her hive hidden in the treetops. Nah, it was probably too far away. The others raced in to fill the gaps after his attack and Cerpin pondered his next move. Stealing her weapon hadn't worked so... how else could they disarm her?

      â…¡ Autumn Vikare

As soon as the rebel leader slipped on the blindfold, Autumn began to circle the arena, searching for an opportunity to strike. As she circled she gave her weapon, a rope and bamboo flail, an experimental whirl. The bamboo let out a harsh whistle as it whipped through the air. Even if such a weapon was no where near fatal, it would still sting. She adjusted her grip on the bamboo to still it once more, and resumed observation.

First to strike was Poeias, the young greenblood with his horns in his face. To no one's surprise—or at least not Autumn's—he tripped over a tree root halfway through his charge. Eyzaak fired off a shot not a second later, fully utilising the advantage of his range. Autumn could not help but roll her eyes however when he crowed his triumph to the others. Save it, loser.

Next up were Maneki and Akkira. Byakko promptly dealt with both, sending the former flying with a well-aimed kick. Autumn tightened her grip around her weapon. She would need to launch her attack while Byakko was distracted. Tagging behind Cerpin and Tevini (two trolls she was surprised to see attending) she kept her body low to the ground and slipped around the mutantblood. As she brought her arm back for a swing the bamboo rattled.

She saw the swing of the bad before she felt it.

The next thing she knew she was on her back the ground, short of breath.

Stryke had been there from the get go just off to the side. The short yellowblood was walking around, watching with a patience calm smile as the younger rebels moved about their business. It was nice to see them forming their dynamics, and learning how to fight. Teamwork with any luck, would be how they managed to overcome the gap. It was amusing he had to admit watching the little makeshift baby time brawl pit.

In truth, Stryke was there in part to make sure none of the kids legitimately tried to stab Byakko...although he didn't see any real weapons being used with deadly intent, thankfully. In his hand was a clipboard, ink pen and pad of paper. As he moved around, he seemed to be taking notes on each individual kid who was participating and both their individual skill sets (or lack thereof of practical knowledge) and teamwork skill sets.

Even he couldn't help but smile the turnout for participation was really encouraging.

Eyzaak had snickered when he watched Autumns attempt at Byakko. Flutters had tried so hard. Yet, for it her efforts were all for not. His cocky grin lined the blueblood boys face as he placed a hand on his hip. A flicker of concern passed over his face as he looked at her gasp, short on breath. Narrowing his eyes, he watched her as if to make sure she was ok. Yea, she was a tough broad he was sure of it.

While he'd been talking with the two older boys, and distracted watched Cerpin and Tevini join the fray his concern over Autumn was interrupted. Eyzaak soon found himself back in the fray, not by his own choice this time. He was the subject of another kid crashing into him.

Stumbling a bit, his sneakers did little to stop him from being pushed forward. Grunting, he took the swing from their Leaders swat of rebuke. Taking the hit with little complaint, Eyzaak merely tsked largely unfazed as he bounced back quickly enough. "HEY don't push m...oh. Sup Akkira. Yeah I guess that was fine, you got a good shot in." He still scoffed at the blind redblood, nostrils flaring slightly given he'd had to be her living-troll shield in order to get a hit in.

Keionx Rutace

Keionx watched the fight, a small smile on her face, though her eyes were intent on the children, her arms crossed in front of her. This was training and fun, her favorite sort, and it served many purposes. She could see where all the swamplings were in terms of fighting ability, she could see the weapon styles they and their lusii preferred, she could get a better sense fo Byakko, and she could see how her current (only) protege, Cerpin, was doing. She hoped to approach a few of the children later and offer to train them, but in the meantime...

Cerpin had better do well. Otherwise she had to change up his training.

So far, though, Cerpin seemed to be pulling it off. Too early to say for sure, but still... doing well. She nodded as he went for the weapon - a good strategy. Not always the most heroic one, by her definition of heroic, but a smart one. One she thought she would encourage in the future.

The older greenblood (he raised woolbeasts she thought) seemed to not be doing so well.

Eyzaak (she was pretty sure that was his name) seemed to be doing very well.

Maneki seemed to be enjoying himself. He seemed happy, and that happiness was infectious. Her smile grew a little.

Akkira was doing well - Keionx thought it was interesting to see her there. Doing so well.

Ah, there was Tevini, Cerpin's... friend? She'd been meaning to ask her about training. It was, she was sure, be great motivation for Cerpin.

And there was Autumn. She had a very interesting weapon - Keionx was intrigued. How could such a weapon be used? How would she train someone in it? Hmmm...

88/100

"Good. Good!" Byakko roared, taking the brief pause in the baby barrage to make some commentary. Tevini's suction cup dart still wobbled from her forehead. "Much better than I anticipated. But still too disorganized. You'll have to do better than that!"

Two of the key characteristics of a member of the Initiative were a healthy dose of courage and an ability to adapt to circumstance. That sort of self-esteem didn't occur in vacuum. Given the limiting nature of being a youth in the swamp, Byakko believed support from other members was one of the most crucial building blocks in their young lives.

"Keep the assault coming!" The corners of Byakko's lips were twitching, threatening to give way to a smile. With her intense stare covered, the intimidating mutant seemed... well, much less intimidating.

'There!' Hanging at the back of the group of kids had it's disadvantages. She didn't want to accidentally hit and piss off any of the rowdy ones and shooting Akkira just felt wrong. Tevini had waited with her gun ready for an opening but finally decided to move forward for a better shot. It was stressful to try and coordinate with the other kids and avoid their blows.

'Go!' Panicking and shooting as Byakko began to lift her leg, Tevini's next bullet hit the rebellion leader on her Achilles's heel! It wouldn't do much damage there but maybe she'd trip on it, who knew? Slinking back behind the other kids, the red blood reloaded. She eyed the target and tried to ascertain her weak spot...

Well, there was Maneki she supposed. Hmmm...
