"Yes please..." Ginger affirmed to the vendor selling ice cream, rocking on her heels in muted excitement as they sprinkled rainbow jimmies on the chocolate cone... or to be menu specific "Double Chocolate Destiny", and forked over some bills in exchange for for double scoop cone, mouthing 'Thank you'... or starting to before she spotted a familiar dark ponytail bobbing through the crowd. "Oh uh... keep the change!" She noted, and hurried to try and nudge toward that familiar face. She'd been kind of worried about her classmate since the rumor mill had started talking about 'things' happening at the Job Fair, (which she'd... skipped... out of a certain amount of exasperated spite at her mother pressing her to go.) "Lily! Lily wait up!"

Lily was taking a break from the campus rec booth, wandering around aimlessly in an outfit that could best be described as 'summer camp chic'--her shirt was a bright red and had the Ashdown community college logo emblazoned on the front, and her gym shorts were to match. She'd compensated for this affront by wearing extra eyeliner and black lipstick along with double braids to call as much Wednesday Addams into her life as possible. When she heard a voice calling her name in the crowds, Lily paused, turning with a blink. She recognized that particular swatch of fiery hair, and so she lifted a palm in greeting, waiting in place for the girl to catch up. "Howdy," she greeted dryly, glancing down at the girl's ice cream with a nonplussed look. "You getting your dessert on?"

"Oh... um... yeah..." Ginger's face fell a bit at the nonplussed expression, but she seemed to be struggling to get it back. "...I just... hadn't seen you around for a couple days and... I was wondering if you were ok after the... thing." 'Thing' was as nice a way as she could think of putting it. "I was going to offer you an cone if you needed one... Unless you don't want one... I think they have froyo...." This was... not going quite the way she'd planned. "I can go..." She was suddenly intensely aware of the contrast between them, Red and Black goth versus her own tank top, with a tiny rabbit clinging to a dandelion puff, drifting away from the stem, and faded, ripped jeans with lace inlays to cover the rips. ...And her icecream was melting, which it demonstrated with a chocolately 'plop' of melt onto the toe of her tiedye chucks. "Oh... -s**t-." She hissed at it. "I mean... people got hurt... I just..."

Lily shrugged, but her eyes darted away towards the ground. Of course people were going to want to know how she'd been, given the whole madness at the job fair and her subsequent hiatus from...well, everything. "It's cool, I didn't even really get hurt or anything, so it's all good." It was more than people got hurt. People died, people were irreparably changed by the damage that they'd done in their negligence, but Lily was doing her best to ignore that and it meant not bringing in Ginger, sweet Ginger who blissfully knew nothing about the situation. She glanced back and Ginger was floundering, and Lily's brow furrowed, wondering what it was that she'd said. "I like froyo..." her voice trailed off as the girl's treat began to slowly melt, watching it plop to the ground with a blink of her eyes. "No no, you don't have to go," Lily was quick to respond, lifting a hand to place on the redhead's shoulder but stopping just short. She did her best to smile, a half-cocked twist of her black lips, and she slipped her hands into her pockets to keep them from awkwardly flailing about. "Froyo actually sounds...really nice..."

To be fair, it hadn't even been anything Lily necessarily said. It was as much an entirely mundane sort of monster whispering and invisible, that continued to mutter that she was a bad person and that her words were as lethal as any mysterious terrorist or rogue animal. She perked up like a hopeful golden retriever when told not to go, and offered the crook of her arm. "My treat, ok? I gotta get some napkins anyway. I think they real fruit in some of the fruit ones, but... you know... sometimes you gotta go chocolate." She glanced at the melty cone and flashed a sheepish look. "...And Jimmies. They don't really taste like anything I think but somehow they just feel like... being a kid again and not worrying about stuff, which is you know... nice when it's not melting all over you."

Lily's childhood hadn't really been the sort to be revived by the thought of sprinkles, but given the state of her bank account she wasn't about to snub her nose at the notion of 'free food'. "That sounds awesome, thank you," she added quietly, curling a hand around the outstretched elbow as an afterthought. "So..." Lily's mind wandered in search of conversation, but all she could think of was Blackfriar's, the reeling images that played in her head on repeat. "...how's...class?" It was only afterwards that she remembered that it was summer, that classes were over, but it was too late, it was already out there, and Lily pursed her lips as she silently stewed in her own embarrassment.

"Yoga?" Lily guessed, and sighed, licking melting ice cream off the knuckles of her other hand. "Well I haven't fallen on anyone in a couple weeks, but my moon stance is still more like 'electrocuted stork' pose." Was that the right pose name? God she could hardly keep track sometime. It was moon something. "Mom hasn't found a problem with it yet but that's because Yoga is 'trendy' right now and associated with being successful and having the money to spend on mats and special pants and steaks for the black eyes from being within ten yards of me." She made a wry snort sound and then added. "Someone around here should get in on the yoga pants market, the prices on some of the brand name stuff are a total rip... I got a pair from the peeps website instead." She added. "If I'm going to look incompetent I'm going to do it with purple marshmallow bunnies on my hip." She escorted Lily to the truck before freeing her classmates arm, gesturing at the decorated chalkboard with lists of flavors and toppings. "Annnnd go nuts. Or Marshmallows. Or... Gummy bears. They've got everything."

"Half moon is hella hard, though," Lily offered, eager to talk about something other than her own inability to know what time of the year it was. "You gotta be friends with a wall for a few weeks to really get it right, use it to hold you up for sweet pose victory." She nodded knowingly at the comment of the expenses of yogi fashion--it was a struggle she had been well acquainted with, before she'd become totally broke. "Hey man, wear whatever makes your heart happy, everything else comes after. I'm pretty sure the people who practiced it originally wore, like...sheets." The girl stared blankly at the food truck, faltering just shy of the window itself. "...so I just...how do I get one with all the fruit?" This whole First Friday experience was kind of new to her.

"Well... let's start with what kind of fruit?" Ginger encouraged. "What's your favorite? I mean they've got strawberry but everyone does strawberry, and... mango... and peach... and pineapple. And then they've got like... freeze dried blueberry, strawberry or pineapple bits... and coconut shavings, or you could get one scoop each of a couple things. Or... I can order for you, but I need to know if there's anything you don't like." She suggested, trying to manage the drip rate on her softening chocolate ice cream. "It's kind of supposed to be that kind of day, I think. Take in the art, take in the music, take in the things that make you happy. Including Frozen Yogurt. Or... Fried Oreos if that's your thing. I'm... kind of morbidly fascinated by the idea but kind of in a car wreck way. I'd rather get fried dough even though it will make me suffer for hours from the grease." She was well aware she was blessed with a metabolism that could still handle that sort of thing with at best an annoying pimple outbreak, and while she could appreciate the 'my body is a temple' mindset, her temple was still prepared to appreciate some street art. And by art she meant food. Delicious. Delicious street food.

"That's pretty cool, I guess," Lily shrugged, glancing around at the booths. She'd forced herself to come out of her self-imposed exile, to live in the world now that she knew she wasn't going to be a furry every day of the month, and the world so far was...okay. Lily's eyes widened as she considered her options. Suddenly the world was better than just okay. "Okay so...mango." She nodded, her eyes trailing down the list of toppings. "With, like...all the fruit. Ron Swanson levels of fruit." She'd only seen a few episodes of Parks and Rec, but it made her just cool enough to throw out a tv reference. When she glanced back to Ginger, it was with a small smile on her painted lips, a little more settled and comfortable.
