Life without Lila in her life was… Interesting. At first her days blended together with some of the darkest thoughts in her head. Annabelle hadn't thought she'd experience life without her. In all honesty, at one point, Annabelle wanted to marry her.
Now life was brightening up a bit. She'd made a couple of friends and she felt herself starting to unwind. The aching in her chest wasn't strangling her. The cloud of depression was easing the more she went out for long walks at night.
Instead of powering up, Annabelle took it upon herself to walk and get to know the area around her apartment building. She found a few amazing bars who's names she could never remember. Her favorite one looked like it wasn't there. You walked down a side street and down steps as you turn a corner. She thought it was a murder house when someone took her here the first time. Past that heavy metal door was a world of sparkle and the most amazing dance music. Glitter was everywhere. During the days, she found out, it served as a little coffee shop and just got more and more wild as the day progressed.
Anna loved to take her laptop there on Monday mornings and just relax in the coffee atmosphere. By the time lunch came around and light drinks were served… Well. If she could marry this place, she would.
It's how she ended up with a job there. It was called the Sparkling Cider and was a very hush hush lesbian bar.
For now Anna worked mornings, just enjoying the atmosphere. She got off at three o'clock and got to go home, unwind, get ready for the night and just come right back to hang out and party with her friends if she wanted to.
So far that hadn't happened. When Anna came home she was usually pretty exhausted and just wanted to bathe and stay in comfortable oversize pajamas and eat a ton of crap that was so not healthy for her. Every now and then she'd text Orin to see what he was up to. They went to the arcade about once a week together now and she always treated him to lunch and made sure he texted his dad. In a way she was acting as his bigger sister.
Life now was very different than when she was in high school. So much had happened since she'd awaken that if she hadn't lived this life… she wouldn't believe she was the same person.
These thoughts swirled through her head as she brushed her hair, untangling the green and white strands slowly. She smiled a bit, feeling pride swell up in her chest. All of a sudden a laugh bubbled forward and she knew everything from here on out was going to be okay. She had a normal life now. She had a life beyond Lila that was more than powering up. She was lonely, but right now? That's exactly what she needed. She was truly happy.
