Maristela the Dinosaur book - completely original.
Describe the process I took the flap of a cardboard box (Saving the rest for another project) and sketched out a dinosaur that I cut out and used for the cover of the book.
I then took pages and the front cover of a notebook and cut them to shape so they match (but are a little smaller) the cover.
I punched holes along the spine and used large jump rings to bind the book.
I very quickly wrote and sketched a story onto the pages.
Additional info: I wanted to go pretty literal for my first piece - so . . . cardboard. To reduce thickness I just used box cardboard for the front cover. So this is cardboard box for the cover, cut paper and thin notebook cover for the pages and back.
I like creating things that have a use beyond the contest, so I made a book for my nieces. I'm not sure the quick 'story' I sketched out is what's going to stay - which is why it's in pencil, but it works alright.
