Rules
  • You can make: Prehistoric Animals (Dinosaurs, Pterosaurs, Smilodon, wooly mammoth, plesiosaur etc), extinct Animals (Dodo, Tasmanian Tiger), Fossils (skeletal remains of ancient creatures), or Living Fossils (coelacanth, hoatzin etc), or recreate scenes/characters from Popular media set in Prehistoric settings (Dinotopia, The Croods, Ice Age, etc)
  • Can be cardboard, cardstock, paper mache etc -- pretty much any form of relatively dimensional papercraft.
  • You can make up to three entries, but only one can officially win.
  • You must have your username in at least one picture of it,
  • You must have some pictures showing progress/construction to prove you actually made it rather than just owned it.
  • Main Image must be 500x500 pixels or smaller (can link to bigger image for better details. Additional Images must be in thumbnails
  • You can use different materials as an armature (Such as wire, wood, a balloon etc)
  • No proxy!
  • Collaborative work isn't officially allowed -- You must have your own entry (due to the fact that familiars cannot be co-owned)
  • I will be judging on both Funniest/Cutest and most technically impressive. So even if you're not a wiz at accurate paper-mache a stackup of boxes recognizable as a dinosaur with googly eyes will have the chance to win a prize!

What is your Papercraft of? Saber tooth cat skull fossily thing

Describe the process I started by looking at some different skull references and used those to make the wire frame. Which was mostly just me using my finger and pliers to form the wire and attach it/ twist it onto each other. Then I created a mix of water, flour, and some glue for the paper mache. Over a couple of days I did a few layers of computer paper and let it dry for a day Once it was completely dried I painted the whole thing in a base sorta pale green/ yellow color Once that dried I used chalk pastels to finish off the colors/ look. Was then sealed with hair spray cause didn't really have anything else.

Additional info: Already won a familiar. Sorry the photos aren't the best I've only really got my iphone right now. Also lol my fingers hurt so much, cause I'm dumb and twisted most of the wire frame by hand rather than using the pliers alot.

What is your Papercraft of? Cardboard Covered Maristela the Dinosaur book - completely original.

Describe the process I took the flap of a cardboard box (Saving the rest for another project) and sketched out a dinosaur that I cut out and used for the cover of the book.

I then took pages and the front cover of a notebook and cut them to shape so they match (but are a little smaller) the cover.

I punched holes along the spine and used large jump rings to bind the book.

I very quickly wrote and sketched a story onto the pages.

Additional info: I wanted to go pretty literal for my first piece - so . . . cardboard. To reduce thickness I just used box cardboard for the front cover. So this is cardboard box for the cover, cut paper and thin notebook cover for the pages and back.

I like creating things that have a use beyond the contest, so I made a book for my nieces. I'm not sure the quick 'story' I sketched out is what's going to stay - which is why it's in pencil, but it works alright.

~~ All images are thumbnails that can be clicked on for full size images - I only have my camera for a phone so pictures aren't great.

What is your Papercraft of? Soda-saurus

Describe the process I used a green trifold project board and sketched out the shape. I cut out the pieces and used E6000 to hold it together. Then the soda bottle made the main body. Unfortunately the structural integrity of the cardboard didn't hold the weight as well as I would have liked, but this one is for the lolz.

Additional info: I had fun with this contest, thank you.

What is your Papercraft of? it is an Art Deco inspired, mosaic style, triceratops shelf sitter do dad. Would be great to hide stuff behind because it's so big.

Describe the process Basically I cut out the shape of a triceratops head and cut triangles out of the scraps to decorate it with. I wanted it to look more like an artistic impression of a triceratops as opposed to actually being anatomically correct. Hence why it has a suggestion of a "beak" like mouth and no eyes.
I had to reinforce it on the back to make sure it would be a little more "weighty". So I just glued the bigger scraps onto it. In not much of an artist sorry.

Additional info: I'm only here for the Battle Worn Parasaur or possibly surprise prizes. Thank you for the contest. I had a lot of fun.
