[ orp ] The Showdown at Essex Park - Come play!

America was, to be honest, a bit of an overachiever when it came to certain things. Enough of one to have actually started filling water balloons the night before she was due to meet Shun at the park. She'd managed to wheedle a truck ride into town that morning dropping her and her pool full of water balloons off at the park (and picking up a second and third pool to fill up along the way.)

The excess proved good planning, since she stopped in her preparations to have a small water fight with several kids in the park. Both a warm and a cool down on the sunny afternoon, and she'd replenished the stores (and then some) and dried off by the time the park started to empty of kids and dogs and joggers.

Shun would find her triumphantly waiting in a clearing (a small building nearby that would prove to indeed be a set of restrooms). In her typical tiny shorts along with a patriotic bikini top, America looked more than ready for another battle.

Balloons are 1d4 per balloon tossed!
4 is a hit!
1 is a miss and the target it able to "catch" the thrown balloon in some manner
Powers are welcome to use, this is a power training session after all!
Regular old throwing is also welcome, though familiarity with magic s**t preferred!

Shun approached the rendezvous point quietly, taking note that the kiddie pools seemed to have multiplied since he last recalled. He shrugged off his leather coat, then tucked it away by a tree, along with his bag, gloves, and helmet. With that off to the side, he just had a regular t-shirt and jeans.

"I see you have been busy," he commented as he rolled his shoulders.

"Are you ready for this, then?"

"Those jeans are gonna be hard to move in soon," America greeted him, hands on hips. From one of the pools, a water balloon began it's wobbly ascent. As it shot toward him, it was to her credit that she managed to get much closer to the target than last week. Still a miss, but so close!

Crouching down, shifty-eyed and ready, she tried to anticipate which direction retaliation was coming from.

Shun just huffed at her in response. And the next thing he knew was he had a water balloon lobbed at him already. He shifted to the side, narrowing his eyes as it just missed him. Alright. She was ready for sure.

Moving his hand to one of the pools, he mentally snatched up one of the balloons and hurled it right back at her, his own shot going a little wide. Yes, he definitely needed practice with this mental flinging.

"I will manage."

Ponytail and other assets proving admirably buoyant as she bounced on her toes in growing excitement, America quickly tried again.

And actually got him.

With a whoop, the girl raised her arms high and did a quick victory dance.

Shun was not about to let himself get distracted by bouncing assets as he crouched down in preparation for her next assault. Despite this, he still managed to get caught in the shoulder; the balloon bursting upon impact.

"Tsk."

Lucky shot on her part. While she did her victory dance, he sent one of his own balloons straight for the girl.

Nailed it.

Freezing, America's mouth popped open in a surprised O as water dripped down the side of her head. With a burst of laughter she began running toward the nearest tree for cover, even as another balloon floated up.

It flew past Shun at first, but then, the girl proving stubborn in her retaliation, switched direction to hit him from behind.

Shun tracked her as she went over to the nearest tree, floating up a water balloon to get ready. One sailed right past him, which was fine, until the balloon boomerang'd straight into the back of his head. He jerked forward, not expecting that sudden impact.

"Clever."

That's right. This wasn't an ordinary balloon fight. After shaking off some excess water, he sent his floating balloon around her bit of cover, before ducking behind his own tree. He only managed to hit the tree instead.

America peeked around her tree, focusing on the balloons and raising one up, as far as she could manage. It floated over to the tree she thought he was behind, and then she let it go in an attempted bombing.

The balloon just hit the ground near the tree in an unimpressive splat.

"Did it at least get your shoes?"

Shun didn't even have to try to move out of the way of that one. He eyed the ground where the balloon had hit, then let out a scoff.

"As if."

He waited behind his tree for a few moments, then bolted out to dive behind some shrubbery. While he was moving from cover to cover, he sent one flying in her direction.

He got her square in the middle, issuing a laughing squawk before taking off again. "Don't get cocky, Officer! I've been hitting targets since I was five!"

The balloon that accompanied this declaration was on a promising path and then...it suddenly wasn't?

Shun's eyes narrowed as he saw the balloon flying at him. Rather than move out of the way, he brought a hand up and stopped it in midair, mentally catching it. There was a pause as he realized he had just managed this. It didn't last as he soon sent America's own projectile right back at her.

"Who is getting cocky now?"

Unfortunately, his attempt at retaliation failed.

Her head poked out from behind a bush.

"Damnit! That was pretty good!"

The following balloon hit exactly where he'd been, but sadly Shun wasn't exactly a conveniently sitting duck.

Where the hell was he? Focusing on both the balloon and the target was definitely A Thing.

Shun decided to bide some time, in hopes that America might get impatient and maybe a little reckless. He remained ducked down before he peeked out around the side to see if he could track her location.

Lifting another balloon, he threw it at her. The object ended up bursting on the bush instead of his actual target, however.

America's face scrunched up as the spray still managed to hit her. Getting down on the ground, she tried doing an army crawl to the next piece of cover: a nice stone bench. The different perspective proved even more difficult to lift and throw balloons from, this one going wildly amiss.

The purpose of changing cover might be diminished by the loudly vocal cursing coming from behind the bench.
