There was very little to bring Haumea out on patrol. Unless one counted a sense of duty to be done. Even so, it seemed that there were a hundred other duties that would accomplish far more than simply stealing energy from the idiots who either couldn't or wouldn't put themselves safely behind locked doors.
Growling a little under his breath as he loosened his grip on the throat of one such idiot, the tall corrupt senshi let the body drop to the cold pavement. Staring at the softly glowing orb of energy that hovered beside him, Haumea smiled, grudgingly, and sighed.
Well, it is that much more energy to give to Metallia, he thought. For Her, he would do anything asked. For Her, Haumea could, had and would in the future, kill.
Sighing a little, he sent the energy orb back to his superiors and raised his face a little to let the moonlight brush across it.

Newgrange had a couple dozen reasons not to be out when there was a Negaverse agent out, but he tried to ration that Whisler was back, and was sane and himself and wasn't out for blood with some posse of Negaverse Agents deadset on corrupting him.
He hadn't met many corrupted senshi, but he knew what it felt like. And he knew how dangerous they could be. Which is why, he supposed, the one in front of him seemed to have been able to drain energy of some civilian without much issue.
Newgrange cleared his throat loudly when he approached; the distance he'd been at before made it difficult to see exactly what was going on, but now he had no doubt of it.
"You should put that back," he warned, sounding stern.
He was not particularly confident in his fighting skills, but he couldn’t just stand by idly after such a sight.
He had a job to do; he didn't have time to second guess if he was doing it right. He was just supposed to stop the Negaverse from hurting people—and he was going to try.

Startled at the sudden appearance of the knight, Haumea merely looked puzzled at the other's stern demeanor.
"Why? Not that I can or will, you see," he added softly. "It's already gone and being put to a much better use."
Carefully, he kicked at the cooling body with his toe, intending only to show helpfully that what the knight asked of him was impossible.

Newgrange's eyes narrowed as he looked at the male before him. "A much better use?" he asked, disbelief coating his words.
He didn't seem to appreciate the lifelessness of the body at the senshi's feet and couldn't help but ask, "Have you killed him?"
It didn't seem a wise idea to approach the body and check for a pulse--not when the Corrupted Senshi was still so close to it. Instead, his hand clenched at his sides and he stayed on guard.

"Of course," Haumea responded coolly. "Metallia needs the energy far more than some Darwin Awards winner. Besides, I consider it natural consequences. If you go out when you know hunters are about, you deserve to become prey."
Really, it was simple logic.
Though the knight's next question brought the barest flicker of a wicked smile to the corrupt senshi's lips. Memories of terrorizing the white moon using vicious pranks rose up from the depths of his mind. For the moment, at least, he didn't mind needling this one. Let him understand how futile his desire to protect everyone was...
"Now that is an interesting question," he murmured, tapping one long finger against his chin. "Have I killed him... I'm going to have to go with no. It's hardly my fault if they expire before they can drag themselves home. I don't take everything they've got, after all."
With another casual kick of the body, Haumea smiled, his eyes plainly challenging the knight to try to do something.

Newgrange's eyes flicked to the body one more and he shook his head slowly. "You can't truly be so flippant about something like that. The idea of killing a man doesn't bother you?"
Dead or not, the senshi didn't seem to care. It was alarming, and though Newgrange kept a straight enough face, the thought of it made his skin crawl.
Sometimes, the Negaverse just didn't even seem human.
Humans might not have always cared about each other--might have wanted to hurt each other sometime--but you had some reaction after killing someone.
"You must think yourself fairly high on the food chain. That is foolish," he warned, though didn't seem to be threatening. If there was a chance the man was still alive, Newgrange would rather focus on getting him out of here and to a hospital.
"Will you leave peacefully or do I need to remove you by force?"

"Why should it?" Haumea didn't shrug. There was no point to it. "Metallia is the only thing that matters. For her, I will do anything."
Was this knight really that naive? Why care so much about a human? Particularly one without a shred of self preservation. Maybe if his energy donor had fought back a little, he'd have been mildly impressed by the will to live. Maybe he would have even left the guy with a bit more energy. But he hadn't fought back, therefore, Haumea saw no reason to take pity.
At the knight's remark about food chains, Haumea laughed softly and smiled. Only, it was the sort of smile that the Alkaid he'd seen in the future would know and appreciate.
"And why should I not, knight? I've seen the future in my dreams. As far as I'm concerned, you're nothing but prey. Just try to be entertaining prey, hrmm?"
Rather than answer the boy's last question, Haumea decided he was done with words. Fists balling, he threw himself at the knight, determined to beat the heroics out of him.

Newgrange could only regard the Senshi with scrutiny; he grew less convinced that this was going to end well for the both of them--an assumption that proved correct when the Senshi lunged at him.
He barely had any time to react and immediately ducked into a crouching position, slamming his fist into the ground as he did so. Newgrange did not use his magic often, but this seemed like a good enough occasion; the ground trembled beneath him and an earthquake began to radiate around him. It would have sent him off balance if he hadn't deliberately put himself low to the ground.
He figured he didn't have much time before the Senshi registered what was going on and, while he might have still have difficulties catching his footing, he knew Senshi had magic. All the Senshi had to do was get out of the radius of the tremors--but Newgrange didn't want him to figure that out.
Over the rumbling of ground beneath him, he said, "You do know that a dream is an illusion of the mind, right? Don't put too much faith in that."
There wasn't much point in talking, though; Newgrange wasn't here to fight. At best, he wanted to get the guy out of here and close to a hospital, just in case. While the ground was shaking, he bolted from his position and ran to scoop up the unconscious man.
The ground would keep shaking for a few seconds; he hoped it would buy him enough time to grab the guy and get out of there before the Corrupted Senshi got serious.

It was stupid of him to have lunged. Haumea recognized that the moment the knight crouched and Haumea was forced to leap over him or risk ramming headfirst into another person. Still, it was a counter he should have expected. What he absolutely had not expected was the small earthquake that the knight was generating.
In spite of himself, he lost his footing and tumbled, cracking his knee against the unforgiving ground. Hissing in pain, he turned, thinking to use his magic, when he heard the knight's words and saw him bolting from the area, Haumea's victim in tow.
Moments later, the earthquake ceased and Haumea was left sitting with a rapidly bruising and swelling knee. And a heavy dose of chagrin. He'd gotten far too confident, clearly and lost both sets of prey. Still, he doubted the knight would be able to offer much in the way of life saving, so that was some small consolation. Wincing at he got to his feet, Haumea decided that he would be teleporting back to the Dark Kingdom tonight. And possibly hunting down an ice pack.
Seconds later, he was gone.
Kyuseisha no Hikari And that's a wrap! Thank you, bb!
