It had started as a sort of joke. Why don't we move in together? Sure, why the ******** not! It was the kind of thing passed around between friends, joked about over the dinner table. But then, they'd been looking at apartments. And Autumn had been calling landlords, and discussing leases, and arguing that yes, both of the cats were ******** necessary. It was a package deal, and they were good tenants, thank you very much. Several tours later, and much arguing and box-moving...
"We have a place," Autumn breathed, setting her current box down and looking around the apartment. It was considerably less of a shithole than her last apartment had been, and thank ******** Christ, she actually had room to move her legs without breaking something. It was a miracle of miracles. Whatever tension was going down between Zac and Algernon didn't ******** matter, because now he had a safe place. Here. With her.
And s**t man, it had WOODEN FLOORS. That was goddamn FANCY right there. Autumn couldn't think of the last time she'd lived somewhere with wooden floors. And a non-clausterphobic shower. And a kitchen that didn't make her want to put a knife through her eye, every time she went into it to cook. All in all... after the trauma of Blackfriars, and everything else, it was a wonderful breath of fresh air to have something going her way.
"You know we're not like. Putting up any dumb colors for furniture, right? Like. Just so you know. I have final design supervision on everything."

"You say that like you expect me to have awful taste in furnature" He said arching an eyebrow. Though to be honest the idea of moving someplace even slightly more private was appealing. The people he lived with currently were -outstanding- mind you. Especially the cooking, and Mogget's ever growing collection of hair clips. But, it seemed like a thing that both he -and- Autumn could use right now. Change, but good change. "We can definitely afford this though? And they absolutely allow cats?" He wasn't nervous... nope

Change was something that the both of them needed. Autumn took a deep breath of their new apartment, then turned to Zac. She grinned and set a hand on her hip, regarding him with open amusement. Her teasing aside, she ******** loved this kid. Like, a lot. Having her own brothers, who had never given her the time of day, this kid was her brother. End of story.
He was still an idiot, though.
"Why would I move us in if we couldn't afford it!?" She teased, lips pursed. Clearly, Autumn was having none of his nervous s**t today. Autumn walked over, and gently punched him in the shoulder.
"I love you, babe, but I wouldn't ******** up my renter's credit OR ******** up my living situation to humor a little fantasy like this. We can afford it. They allow cats. We're gonna be okay." She was calmer, more affirming, at the last. Less teasing and more genuine.
"We're gonna be okay, Zac. I promise."

He made a small groan. “I know, I know It’s just… “ He shrugged. “Call it nerves okay?” He rubbed at the back of his neck. “It… I mean I know you’re smart and you have everything covered but I needed to ask anyhow. It’s stupid I know. He tipped his head back and stared at the sky. “… Im going to need to find a few things second hand, but we can do this. Maybe I’ll see about another part time job. We have so many people at the bookstore. I love the bookstore though, I don’t know. I just need to calm down don’t I.”

"You really do," Autumn laughed, pulling Zac in for a noogie. His fears weren't unfounded- they made sense. They were making a big commitment, and it was a lot for the two of them to jump into. Particularly with how young Zac was, christ. Was this his first time signing an apartment contract...? No wonder he was losing his s**t.
"What do you think you're gonna look for? I know I've got the tea shop and the cafe, so I'm pretty all over the place with work." She let Zac go from her deathgrip, still smiling brightly.
"I could help you look around, if you want."

"Honestly, right now anywhere that doesn't make me quit the book store. I'm too good at finding things in there AND ... if I had to admit a selfish side its the best place to do some research outside the Library." He mused. "Maybe um... Maybe that Arcade. I mean it couldn't be TOO bad and I might learn some interesting things there. I mean people go to relax right?"
