Doctor's Orders: Rest for a week, no heavy lifting, remaining off feet for at least two days. Afterwards, no heavy lifting until the left arm heals fully in two to three weeks.

Rosie's Decision: Doctor doesn't know squat.

She grunted softly and hefted the bag of flour onto the table. A faint sheen of sweat dewed her brow. Sure, this job was usually a little strenuous - deadlifting anywhere from 25-50 pound bags wasn't easy, ya know? This, though, this was ridiculous. Rosie scowled at the flour bag as if it were the one at fault and not her injuries.

Black Friar's should have been a good time for publicity, especially putting out feelers for anyone interested in a part-time position as a delivery... But instead, it was madness and pain. Oh, and debt. Lots of debt. Listen, going to the ER was never cheap, insurance or no insurance.

Thank god for Jo. Rosie sighed and shook her head, recalling how the woman had been her savior that previous night. They made it back to the bakery and into bed by six am... And here she was at ten am trying to make a batch of bagels.

"Dios mio, mamá!"

If there was one thing Jo was good at, it was helping out. The second thing she was good at was picking up phrases and sayings from those she gave two shits about. However, both of those things pressed together probably landed Rosie in a more exasperating position than not.

Jo whipped around the corner, her long hair in a loose braid down her back and her coat (a chef's coat, she loved the thing) not yet buttoned, lips pressed tight. "Rosie, you heard the doctor! And I did too because I picked you up from the hospital." Green eyes narrowed but her lips pursed at the same time, the expression conveying displeasure but not in an entirely serious way. Instead, she clucked her tongue in disapproval in the way she'd heard the other woman do as well, waving her hands in a gentle shooing motion.

"I swear, you're going to put me in the hospital trying to keep you out of it. When I go grey, I'm gonna demand a raise for all the dye I'm going to have to invest in." She arched a fair brow with the faintest edge of a smile, gently putting a hand on Rosie's uninjured shoulder. "Seriously. Will you please let me do this? I can do the lifting. You can do the ordering, be jefa without hurting yourself."

Despite her askance, she didn't give much room for denial, picking the flour up and tucking it against the crook of her elbow. "That, or I'm gonna have to take you home. You'll teach Louisa bad things, running yourself ragged."
