It had been a long time coming but Chris finally had a day off and it was nice enough weather that he decided it was time to make a visit. Between the weres, being nagged by Jer (while being taught magic, which was a strange thought altogether), and just wanting someone to talk to, it seemed like a good idea to go make a visit to Algie. It didn't take long for Chris to get dressed in something decent, put his bag together, and then after some consideration, decide to bring Bergamot along.
After a talk with the cat to be on "his best behavior" (which was met with an incredulous look from the cat), Chris made his way over to the house. It wasn't long before he stood on the doorstep, knocking before waiting politely. Bergamot, for all his hellish behavior, was deigning to rest quietly in Chris' bag, hidden from everyone, which Chris was grateful for.

Alg had taken off of work, his knee enough reason to be excused due to medical reasons, but the knee was better and he was only now suffering stiffness from days stuck in a brace. The swelling had gone down and he'd gotten things scanned to make sure he hadn't torn anything (he hadn't). He'd be back to work soon but was enjoying the home time enough to unpack some of the things he'd brought from his apartment that had ended up sitting in a few boxes. Books were being found spots but there wasn't enough room between both of their collections. Alg was actually standing in the middle of the living room while Violetta poked around an empty box, crawling inside of it as the flaps closed back down over her head. The knock jolted him, because he was the sort that always jumped to unexpected noise or movements, and Alg set the books he held down to go answer. "Chris-" Alg smiled, "How are you? Come in.."

Chris smiled as the door opened, glad to see Algie. He looked good, at least better than Chris who still had the remnants of the scratches he had received on his face and body left. The ones over his eyebrow and nose had scabbed over, at least.
"I'm good, how are you? Your knee any better?" He asked, stepping inside. Bergamot decided his was the moment to move, popping his head out of the corner of the bag in an inquisitive motion. There was something of a squint he was giving to Algie, as if considering what he could get away with, a cresting of vines much like a set of laurels resting on his head.

"I'm alive," He chuckled, "But the knee is better. Twisted apparently so no surgery necessary. Just rest and ice and a knee brace." For a while anyway. "How're you? Come in put your things down.." The cat's head appearing with a small crown of vines made him smile a bit more. He was a sucker for the kitties. "Well hello- is this the other sibling?" Violetta chose that moment to tear her way out of the box she was in with a twisting leap, the largest of the kittens landing on the carpet with spread legs and a fluffed tail. She stared at her other brother from across the room.

"Oh that's good, a knee brace isn't so bad," He said, reaching inside his bag to pull out Bergamot before placing his bag down. Nothing in it he would need. "I still think I got off the luckiest, just some scrapes here and there."
"Ah, yeah, this is Bergamot." The kitten in question gave Algie an appraising look and a rub against his leg before moving his attention to his sister. There was a stare down for a second and then in a sudden burst of speed, he sprinted over to her. "He's a.. bit of a troublemaker I've found, but mostly a good housemate."

"You'll have some fetching face scars.." Algie chuckled at the light scabbing on Chris. Bergamot got a scratch while he was rubbed on, only moments before the cat was running at Violetta. He turned to watch the interaction. His own hefty feline immediately tried to smother Bergamot, first pushing at his head with her paws and then attempting to lay on him. Seems about right. "You look tired-" Algie adjusted his glasses, "Jeremiah not working you like a dog with magic is he?"

"I'm already dreaming up stories to tell the kids in middle school, it'll be fun," He joked, "I'm thinking rabid raccoon will be the top one."
Bergamot seemed to be unperturbed by this, only moving to wriggle out halfway under Violetta as she sat on him, twisting his head to lick at her flank. Chris gave a small laugh at the display.
"Hm? Oh, no," He admitted, looking back. "I don't sleep a lot in the first place, but I'll look better this summer when I can sleep in till noon. I appreciate being taught magic too, it's helpful."

"Oh I don't know, if you go with 'wrestled a rabid wolverine' it's almost the truth." Alg chuckled, only distractedly watching the cats. Typical really. It was obvious they were all related. "Sleep is good Chris," Alg frowned, "Keeps the mind sharp." Whatever he'd been unpacking could wait. "Would you like a cup of tea? I could take a break. I've been finally unpacking some of my things-" He'd only lived in the house a few months at least, "-too many books though. Gonna need a whole room for them at this rate."

"Ah but that's so typical, they'll definitely call me out on it," He laughed, "Honestly they'll probably assume it was my cat."
There was a half shrug there. "I do sleep, I promise. I'm not entirely sleepless."
"I would love some tea," He smiled, "I can imagine that between you two, you could have a whole library. That might be nice actually, an at home library."

"At home I have a library-" Alg said on instinct before he faltered, "Sorry. I've only been in Ashdown a couple years. It's not exactly-" home. "My father and I have a house." His head nodded implying 'back in England', "and I've a real library there." He turned and motioned for Chris to follow him to the kitchen which left the cats to do- whatever it was they wanted - no illusions of control here. "Do you have an apartment?" He really didn't know much about Chris outside of their mutual trauma.
