afroAutumn had wondered, vaguely, if the mysterious texter had known just how accurate her afro suggestion had been. She was wearing her hair less formally lately, anyway. So... today found Autumn rocking the headband-and-wild-hair look. It seemed only fair she agreed to meet the mysterious texter, and let her know the look was working. (But then again, it was Autumn. She could make a potato sack look good.)
Sitting at the little cafe, Autumn waited. 'Look for the black girl w/ freckles and horns lol'. Wasn't exactly a hard description to mix up with anyone else in Ashdown.

afroSunny showed up. She showed up greasy-haired and sporting raccoon circles beneath her eyes, but she showed up. She sat down across from Autumn. "Hi," she said. "Did you try the orajel?"

"Hi," Autumn replied, giving the girl a quick glance-over. At the question of the orajel, she smiled and nodded.
"I did, and it saved my a**. I don't feel like dying every time I run into something." Autumn bit her lower lip a moment, then asked.
"Um. Are you okay? I didn't... keep you up texting or anything, did I?"

afro"No," said Sunny. "I'm still figuring stuff out. It helps, to help." She shifted positions, knees pulled up to her chest. "How are you?"

afro"I get that. I kinda fall apart if I'm not helping someone," Autumn agreed, nodding. When the waitress came by, she ordered- tea for herself, and some fancy-something coffee for her new friend.
"I'm alright. A lot more people are coming to me for help than I ever expected. I wasn't really social offline before I came here, and now..." She waved her hand, letting the thought trail off into nothingness.
"What're you working on? Anything you could use help with?"

"I think that's kinda backwards, don't you," said Sunny to her knees, peeking up at Autumn through her bangs. "I do the helping." She sighed. "I've never had a latte before. Is it good?"

"Doesn't mean you don't deserve help. We gotta look out for each other, you know?" Not just the whole girl power thing, but helpers-helping-helpers bit. It was important to her, keeping an eye on someone who seemed so keen to help out everyone else.
"I can't say anything positive. I hate coffee," Autumn laughed, shaking her head. "More of a tea girl myself."

"It's boiled leaf water," said Sunny, who was not impressed with tea so far. "Old people drink." Sure, she was like, a hundred hundred times the oldest living human's age, but her point wasn't incorrect. She was sure of it. She sighed and put her forehead on her knees. "Your hair looks nice, though."

"Coffee is just bean water. When you get down to it, you can make anything sound shitty by describing it as its little parts." Autumn shrugged, but still smiled. "It's not for everyone, though. I get that."
It was, in fact, kind of an acquired taste. It had taken years of online pals harassing her to taste it- no no REALLY taste it, savor the flavor- for Autumn to really get hooked.
"Thanks!" She piped up cheerily, pushing at her hair. "It was your idea and all. If you ever want a salon day, I'd be glad to give you a pampering. Not to brag too much, but I'm pretty kick a** at hair care."

"Human hair care is weird," mumbled Sunny to herself. Why wasn't scrubbing her head with soap whenever it got really gross good enough? She peeked up to watch Autumn push at her hair. "Beans are yummy," she said. "Leaves taste like s**t."

"Yeah, it is." Autumn agreed. She stopped, then, and blinked. "Wait. Huma-- OH! You're... you're the witch, aren't you? The one down by the waves?"
The one who had saved her, she didn't add. This much, Autumn remembered. And was sure... Sunny! That's what they had called her. Sunny had to know it, as well.
"Leaves are fantastic," Autumn quipped back, as their order arrived. She took her cup, and sipped at the hot tea.
"Beans just stain your teeth and put acid in your body. They're bitter and nasty."

Sunny nodded, shoulders slumping. "It's not real," she said. "The body. I made it up." She sipped the coffee drink, frowned at it and then took another sip. It left her with a foam mustache and a brightening of her violet eyes.

"...Is it hard? Keeping a body when you don't, um. Have one?" She asked, not really knowing what else to say. Pax had struggled with magic on this side. Was it the same for Sunny?
Her eyebrows raised when Sunny took a sip of the coffee, and Autumn leaned forward.
"Wwweeeeeellllll?"

Sunny shrugged. "It's just an illusion. It feels good to take care of it, so I do, but… none of it reflects back on me." She took another sip of her latte. "I think I prefer it black," she said.

"Huh." Autumn tried to think of something more articulate, and yet. Her brain was still trying to wrap around not really having a body at all. Kind of crazy.
"I mean, I think everyone likes being pampered, at some point. Some way or another. Fancy cup of tea, a massage... some little thing. Even if you're," She gestured to Sunny, "Not entirely getting the effects of it yourself? Or somethin' like that."
Autumn laughed. "I mean. At least, if you're drinking s**t, you appreciate the s**t for what it is. Instead of dumbing it down. I've never understood that frappucino crap."
