After a day of being irritable after their trip to Halloween, Melvin had slowly warmed back to his usual attitude. He recently decided to look further into his interest in a new hobby and laid on the couch with a clunky canon camera, testing out the zoom and settings with a irritable click click click zzzzz click zzzz.

Turning to his side, he started seeking about the room and focused on Lawr, the scope extending in his direction.

Lawrence wasn't paying attention to Melvin at that point in time, occupied writing in a journal on his lap. He'd just gotten back from America's and the house in progress and was noting what he'd thought of regarding both things. He'd moved Mikael in before anyone else as a way of keeping the shadowlings from re-colonising and it was the boy's responsibility to keep the place lived-in. He checked up of course, but keeping a trainee in towns on his own didn't actually bother him that much when it was Mik.

He'd just dropped off the boy's dinner and was strongly considering another shower as his hair simply was not of the highest tier after so much walking around in the muggy heat, so the clicking of a camera eventually permeated his haze of distraction. He stopped writing and looked up.

"Why do you have a camera? Why did you bring a camera here?" He hated the things, capturing too much and recording sides of him that he did not want preserved or presented to the world. "I'm not even properly dressed" he stated.

Henwas zooming in and out above Lawr's left eye when Lawr finally looked up. "To take pictures." He answered.

"I need a new hobby, and I've been thinking how I regret not taking more pictures of things that have happened and people I know." He said as he slowly lowered the camera to turn it about and test a few more buttons.

"You shouldn't worry about being too dressed. You look good either way. Better with less." He looked up to smile before looking back down.

"Your hair is cute right now." Very frizzy.

Lawr gave him a glare for his comment. "It isn't. It needs washed, dried and combed, this humidity plays absolute hell with it. I refuse to be seen like this by anyone other than you. I will not be photographed looking like a hag."

He held up the journal defensively. "Photography, really?"

He crawled over to lay stomach down and pointed the camera again as if he was trying to capture a lion behind a bush.

"Then I won't share the pictures with anyone else but us." He said, zooming in again.

A series of clicks started.

"Oh yeah. Just like that. Purse thise lips just a little more for me."

Lawr moved, setting down his journal and in a very feline but unexpected manner, ducked behind the couch.

"No." he said grimly, before his head popped up. "..you should get me some pictures of you." he said, summoning Butch to cross his arms under his chin in what were almost very very large cat claws. It was vaguely a threat.

"But I will not tolerate being photographed in ways I don't want to be seen, if you keep doing it I simply will not play your game at all."

"Will you keep it for our eyes only too?" He asked, not lowering the camera at any point as he rose up on his knees and tried to get more height to see Lawr.

"Ohh? You know making yourself more elusive only calls to the thrill of the photographer hunt inside me."

He grinned as he leaned to get a nice close up.

"Here we see the rare and wonderous Lawrous Perfecticus, the last of his kind." He narrated, picking up a terrible Australian accent that embarrassed him immediately. "A supreme specimen of his species."
PostPosted: Thu Jun 02, 2016 3:28 pm

"Like I would ever share anything with anyone Melvin." he said. "I have many talents but sharing is not one of them."

Melvin putting on an accent was actually adorable, like a persona lite, and he found himself smiling broadly.

"Also first and last of his kind. Alpha and the Omega." he stated with a smirk. "Though frankly you couldn't catch me and photograph me if you wanted to, if I was not being so generous and sitting here for you. You have no idea just how elusive I can be." And the idea for whatever reason of escaping Melvin for fun, practising his dodging ducking and diving seemed very appealing indeed.

He hadn't had that shower yet and he might as well make it worth it.

"Do you think you can?" he asked slowly and carefully. "Careful, if you say yes, I am going to climb out another window but this time I expect you to come with me. If you say no, I might break your camera."

He clicked a few more times.

"You might be eating better but I still swim and go to the gym regularly. I'd catch you eventually. You should know already.." He glanced over the top of the camera. "...I have endurance."

He rose the camera back up to click once more.

"If you jump out a window, when I do catch you, I'm going to mess you up good and then take a picture as my trophy. You think your hair looks bad now." He smiled.

Lawrence flexed the talons slightly and the runes across them thrummed in time with his heartbeat.

"You can certainly try." he said.

And with a casual brisk pace like he was going to let the sun in he made his way to the window, flicked it open and climbed right out, seizing hold of the ancient guttering and swung across the edge of the the roof of the dorms with the well practised nimbleness of someone who stalked people around the island for a hobby.

Reaching the downspout he held on with his claws and slid down in a shower of sparks. "See where endurance gets you compared with cunning." he called back.

Melvin rose up from the couch in first flat out confusion before he saw the window grab grabbed. "Wait - you mean -"

Was he doing this now? Was he actually going out the window AGAIN?! It had been a playful idea, and one he entertained, but it took a moment for what was actually happening to sink in and he was only allotted a few seconds.

"s**t!" He shouted as he went over to his desk grabbed the camera's strap as he rushed to the window to already see Lawr walking his way across the roof.

"This is nuts. What are we doing this? Why would anyone jump out a window?" He mumbled to himself as he struggled to clasp the camera to the straps before finally getting in and throwing the strap across the neck.

Gripping the window, he threw his weight over it and down onto the roof. "Okay, uh....hunter shields should be good against a fall....right?"

Saliva's twisting did enough to answer that.

"Or I could just not ******** up."

Good idea, Romeo.

Lawr was already sliding down the drain pipe like Cat woman and he watched with just pure awe at the ease of which he made it down. "******** me." He was screwed. He was incredible screwed. How did he already make it that far that quickly?!

He had to run if he was even going to hope to catch up because if he lost sight of Lawr, the game would be over before it even started and he was flat out unwilling to hear Lawr gloat over how amazing he was all week.

The walk across the roof was rushed, and he stumbled and fell over twice before he managed to get to the drain pipe, and then he looked at his hands.

No claws.

"I just...have to catch him on the ground. My legs are at least stronger than his." Yeah. That's right. He only had the advantage right now. There was still a chance.

The height however made him kneel down and take a deep breath, and he noticed there was a wind up here that made the bolts to the drain pipe creek in a way that wasn't reassuring.

Turning, he gripped the gutter of the roof and moved over it, feeling with the sole of his shoes until he felt the bolted latches of the drain pipe and leaned down, only to feel it creak. It was not meant for this much weight, and he knew he was ******** in a situation he literally couldn't turn away from, now stuck with his back out to the sky and his front gripping the edge of a roof. Lawr had slid down so all his weight wouldn't be held onto a drain pipe that couldn't support him. It was quick and it gave him momentum to be down the pipe before it even had time to register he was there. He just, had to try doing the same.

Reaching down, he gripped the pipe and then felt it already creak again and he went into a split second of <******** it that had him holding the pipe and feeling it already start to rattle as it tried to pop free from the bolts. "s**t.s**t.Shitshitshitshit." He muttered as he then started to rush himself to get down the pipe as quickly as he could, moving his grip down each segment and hearing the pipe creak and shake violently in his grip. It felt like eternity, segment by segment and when he reached the middle, the entire pipe popped.

He felt his weight move back and the wall of the dorms drift away before he released to slid down the pipe, found the pipe was no longer at a angle to let him slide, and fell back down to the ground with a UMPH that knocked the breath right out of him.

By some mieracle, the camera was good, and he sat up, back sore and tense, before looking around for where Lawr went. He hadn't taken too long, had he???

Luckily for Melvin, Lawr hadn’t run off the moment he hit the ground but had turned to wait and see if the other man came after him and that he did so safely. Melvin did so much complaining about people jumping out windows that it was high time he learned to overcome the problem they presented. He was surprised that he did it and looked on with open interest as he moved onto the roof, still tensed and ready to move in case the other man fell. Fortunately he was all right though there were certainly some tense moments when he moved to the guttering.

He couldn’t help but laugh at the rather undignified sight of the other man rattling his way down the unsteady pipe and only when Melvin hit the ground did he turn and tear off in the direction of the forest, showing a surprising turn of speed. In spite of his arrogance he knew that he couldn’t out stamina the other man across open terrain but when it came to using his size and weight to advantage to wriggle free that it would be trees that were the key.

Besides, the river wasn’t too far off.

He had heard the laughing but beyond being terrified he was doing to fall and break his back, it at least showed Lawr was still around. Pulling himself up from where he fell, he looked as Lawr went racing across the grounds. He had to wonder what this all looked like to anyone who might be looking out their dorm window. Melvin chasing Lawr from the roof and in hot pursuit across the fields as if Lawr was some fugitive.

[i[I wonder if I'll be doing this for real one day.

He'd have to ask Harrison of there were any parkour tricks to help him out. For now, he just has to remind himself this was for fun - and his libido reminded him of a possible other reward. It was hard to argue with that.

Running he could do and he bolted after Lawr. Following behind, he had something nice to focus on and only fueled his motivations.

Lawrence could tell Melvin was faster at flat out running than him, especially not weighted down by the heavy steel of the claws and their shoulder high gauntlets. Still, the trees were in reach and he dove into the underbrush with ferocity and intention, cleaving his way through the foliage like a wild animal and taking sharp twists and turns, over tripping tree roots and under low hanging branches.

It was invigorating, his heart hammering in his chest, and in the movements he once again relived older memories of running like his life depended on it through strange lands and feeling more alive than he had for a very very long time since. Leaving his stable roots behind had been the only option several times in his life and he’d learned how to run.

The river wasn’t too far off and here and there he could hear the sound of the running water as it came down from the mountain in the distance. His breathing was the only sound over the crunch of plants, leaves and branches under his talons.

“Not quick enough!” he panted.

The camera was awkward and he held it with one hand so it wouldn't bounce and hit him in the face. It was surprising to see Lawr up and running, showing the speed and agility he only glimpsed during spars but only in short spurts. The straight run gave him a chance to catch up and he hit the trees after Lawr, catching glimpses of him darting in the foliage and brush. A tip of gold from his coat, a flash of white hair behind some leaves in the distance, and the spark of light from metal claws.

Panting hard, he tripped and threw his hands out, pushing back branches and Ivy and keeping his eyes out for the path Lawr was carving. It wasn't some quiet tracking but a clear rush to catch him and he felt lungs burn hot white to reach him. It was such a simple yet intense goal to have that it made him practically giddy.

"Endurance!" He shouted back his reminder. "You're as good as mine!"
