Arsenopyrite stretched a bit as he waited for his sparring partner. There had been an offer to train with a fellow lieutenant that he couldn’t ignore. He himself had barely any training whatsoever and although the other lieutenant was probably better than him already, it didn’t hurt to face with someone closer to your own skill level.
He had managed to get a lift to the Negaverse and now as just waiting around for his training partner. He felt a bit embarrassed that he needed to do this but hey, everyone had to learn somehow and with him being a terrible fighter, he needed all of the training he could get.Nuxaz Sorry for the short opening!

Marcasite was a busy woman between her sessions with her general and the demands of her job in her civilian life, still she made time for sparring opportunities with fellow agents. It wouldn't do her any good to simply fight against the same people over and over again, she needed a variety of opponents so, when approached by Arsenopyrite in the wake of the meeting and the tournament, well she said yes without hesitation.
It helped that she had an array of people to call upon to ferry her into Negaspace.
Unfortunately she was running a little late and had to hurry over to where the other lieutenant was waiting. "Sorry, something ran late. Hope you weren't waiting long."

Arseno was startled out of his thoughts by his sparring partner finally greeting him. I really have to stop spacing out so much. He thought as he nodded to the other lieutenant in reply, hoping that it hadn’t taken him too long to respond. “It’s all right, better late than never right?” He smiled a bit at her though it would go unseen because of his mask.
“Ah right, you probably heard my name before but I’m Arsenopyrite.” He wanted to make sure he got the other’s name down so that he would remember it. He could remember faces quite easily but names? Maybe after you repeated the name to him a few dozen times.

Marcasite rolled her shoulders back then stretched her arms across her chest before shaking out her limbs. It'd been a while since she'd done hand to hand as a training exercise but she was pumped for it. As thrilling as it was to get into a scrabble with some order aligned douche, she did enjoy spars.
She figured she'd have a fairer chance against another lieutenant instead of Xenotime while Domeykite was in recovery.
"Marcasite," she introduced with a curt nod, offering a gloved hand. "So, any preferences for this or can we just wing it?"

Arseno took the gloved hand and shook it with eagerness. Or maybe it was nervousness, she seemed a lot more confident than he felt. Of course, he hadn’t managed to win a battle yet so hopefully he wouldn’t be embarrassing himself too much here.
“Nice to meet you and I think winging it would be best. I’ll say it now, don’t expect an amazingly good fight, I’m hoping I can learn some things and get a bit better at fighting with this and hopefully I won’t be too bad of an opponent for you.” There, he put everything out in the open. Whether she would want to stay and spar with him was up to her though he hoped with himself being so weak that she wouldn’t be wasting her time.

"That's fine, that's how most people learn to fight anyway."
Marcasite only had real combat experience because her general was a professional MMA fighter who appreciated her interest in learning to defend herself. The woman's strengths were definitely more suited for infiltration, but she knew how to fight, mostly, too. "I've been learning from a professional and I've done some instructional videos too."
Perks of the job she supposed.
"Please tell me you at least know how to make a fist."

Well, at least she wasn’t making fun of him. Perhaps he wasn’t the only agent with basically zero combat experience whatsoever.
He flexed his fist a bit into the correct fist shape, or at least what he assumed it to be. He had to go looking on the internet on how to do it and other techniques. Hopefully his parents wouldn’t come by anytime soon and see that he was trying to teach himself how to fight a bit.
He nodded and chuckled weakly at the same time. “Well, I know how to make a correct fist shape, whether I can do anything with it is another question.”Nuxaz It's fine! I've been taking a while to reply to rps anyway >_>

Blue eyes watched as the boy made a fist, head tilting slightly before her gaze shifted upwards. "Aim to hit with the first two knuckles," she said, shifting her body until it was in a fighting stance. "Might be worth looking into self-defense courses in the city, there's enough of a...negative stereotype about DC that you could claim you're just thinking ahead if you run into family issues."
Marcasite didn't have to worry about that. Her family didn't live in the city and they'd seen her videos.
"Okay, show me what you've got."

Arseno nodded a bit. He wasn’t quite sure what she meant, but hopefully he wouldn’t be breaking any of his bones tonight by using them incorrectly. “Yeah, I might look into it. Never even thought about self defense before joining the negaverse.” Not that he had a reason to either, it’s not like he had joined the negaverse willingly.
He tried to aim his fist correctly at her, though not in a way that would seriously hurt her, or him, if it managed to hit. She would probably dodge, but just getting some pointers on how to fight would be good enough for now.

Marcasite had a few opinions that she kept to herself. It wasn't her business why the other lieutenant had joined the negaverse, they all had their reason.
He threw a punch and her gloved hand caught it with more ease than she expected. Frowning, blue eyes searched his face. "Don't hold back," she encouraged, before her other hand ran along the underside of his arm. Upon reaching his elbow she straightened it.
"You're curving too much. Come on, hit me like you mean it."

Arseno nodded slowly, taking a step back again. She seemed to be taking this seriously which hopefully meant he would be getting some good training from all of this.
He carefully made a ‘fist’ again, trying not to keep it too tight and went in to hit her again, this time with as much force as he could, though he doubted that he had any aim or that if she side-stepped him he would just tumble to the ground.
It was slightly embarrassing, what kind of agent couldn’t fight in the negaverse? He wondered how he had survived the fights he had been in so far.

He was trying and Marcasite had to give him props for that, but it was almost embarrassing to watch. Luckily, she'd been in a semi-public eye enough that she new how to school her features and keep herself from laughing like she might've wanted.
She didn't side step him like he might've expected, instead she brought up an arm of her own to block and deflect his blow and then used her hands to grab his shoulders and try and force him down before drawing up a knee.
Marcasite stopped short of driving her knee into his gut and grinned at him. "Good! This time, try to have a follow up, otherwise someone can take advantage of your one and done and do something like what I just did. Does that make sense?"ssbrosb he's welcome to hit her with the first or second blow in your next post~
