As the days passed, Zephyr healing up rather well after resting and not taking on any more missions as Hexxis had pretty much barred him from doing so - mostly so he wouldn't get killed before they could go take the team test. Which, finally, the day had come for them to head out to the Mercenary hub to go take that test. The day was mild, a decent temperature but with a chilly wind blowing through the air, causing the flags of outside the hub to ripple and cause a bit of noise when the wind picked up. The hub itself was visibly a large three-story building, though below it, it had a basement floor that all the tests were held in. The ground floor was a general meeting floor, with some spaces to meet up with folks who wanted to personally hand out missions, while there were a plethora of bulletin boards. The second floor was pretty much a food court, and the third was full of meeting rooms.
Walking up the steps, clad in his usual black jeans, hoodie with white and gold accents, and a white tank top, with red high-tops. Hair slicked back instead of pushed forward, he looked even more exhausted than normal. "So. you ready for the test?" he asked, glancing over to Hexxis with a small smile.

Hexxis had healed almost all of her wounds from her previous injuries sustained during the botched mission a few days ago. Though, now she had dark bruising around her neck where her inhibitor sat against her throat. She took in a deep breath as if to enjoy the beautiful day, but her face remained completely expressionless as she hadn't been as talkative lately, moreso in thought about the upcoming events. The test and meeting her father again. She wore her usual clothes, not one to stray from her favored conformity. Even though she didn't show on her face or expression something had been bothering her, it could have been seen by her behavior easily to those who knew her well enough, taking to holding Zephyr's hand and not addressing the matter had he brought it up, simply doing so reflexively without really thinking about it. She followed quietly beside Zephyr though a mere step behind. She was tired as well, having not slept since talking to Tri at all, though it didn't exactly bother her much. She slid her gaze to him as he asked her a question. "I am confident that we will fair an exceptional rank." she retorted flatly as she returned his smile with a faint one of her own before entering the building.
Kylar was seated at one of the back meeting tables, a drink in hand as he watched the doorway. It had been three days since he had witnessed a Meta threatening a man about someone who was killed during a job. The Meta had vanished before they could speak, but he had been curious enouhg to wait around incase he returned. Three days had passed and the door finally opened, revealing the man he was waiting for along with a familiar looking face. The woman in question looked just like Hexxis, but she was older and didn't have the shadow of a malice hanging over her. The glow coming off of her was identical, but without that shadow something seemed missing. He watched the pair for a moment debating his actions given the fact that he had played a hand in the death of the female not to long ago.
After a large gulp he finished his drink and stood up. He straitened his black suit and adjusted his shades before walking over towards the two. He didn't move as if he was a threat, but pulled something from his pocket as he approached. He walked over to Zephyr and stopped holding out a ring that belonged to a recently deceased rich man, "Excuse me, I think you dropped this the other day."

"I'd like to think so - we're both pretty high ranked to begin with, the only issue will be the co-operation section of it." Zephyr laughed a little bit, moving to actually head to the second floor, as he could use a bit more coffee before they went down to take the team test. Coming to a halt when someone approached them, he looked the man over once or twice before smirking a little. 'Well dressed, handsome to boot...wonder- oh.' his thoughts were interrupted when the ring was handed over.
Looking at the ring, he went to take it to look it over, his inner rogue kicking in to just take it and pocket it, but it was strange - he didn't recall dropping the one ring he kept on him. That was safe and sound with the handful of other sentimental items he had. If this was the ring, then- 'Wait, no. Oblivion is gone, he wouldn't care if I lost it or not..' he thought to himself, his smirk faltering for a bit. "Thanks, pumpkin, was wondering where I put this."
Hexxis stood next to Zephyr as they came to stop when someone approached. She looked him over, staring at his face before narrowing her eyes slightly. She tensed slightly, squeezing his hand more as she continued to stare at him with a rather blank face. Her eyes only barely glancing down at the item he held out. Zephyr could likely feel her hand shaking as she only seemed to grip tighter. She easily knew who this person was, her mind would never let her forget the features of his face, even if he obscured his eyes. "Thank you for returning the ring. It is appreciated." she spoke flatly as she kept a close gaze on him. "If you will excuse us, we are en route to a previously scheduled affair that I desire not to be absent from." she offered before trying to walk around him, practically trying to drag Zephyr with her toward the stairs.

Kylar looked them both over as he took the ring, the shadow he had was gone as well. Odd, something had happened to the both of them to make them both lose a part of themselves. The man looked weakened by it or perhaps weakened because of something else that had happened. Hexxis however seemed uneasy, was it possible she recognized him from the one time that they actually met? He didn't give it much thought as he outed himself anyways by speaking to her, "What's the rush, Hexxis?" He took a step closer so that he could speak quieter, "You both seem to have lost something more important than a ring. Is everything alright with the pair of you?" His concern was genuine as he examined them once more seeming to look past them at something that wasn't there.
After an awkward moment he reached into his jacket pulling out a card. He handed it to the man and spoke, "My name's Kage. I would try and talk you out of taking on a mission in the state you are in, but I can underdtand doing something stupid for a pretty face. If you run into any trouble feel free to call."

Feeling Hexxis shaking, Zephyr took a quick glance over to her, smiling softly and turning back to the strange man who had handed him the ring, about to speak before Hexxis spoke and started to move, "Well we're not here for a mission, we have to do something else of importance and if you'd like to talk maybe some other time could be arranged." he stated quickly as he got dragged off, doing his best to nab the card before he was completely dragged off, now trying to walk on his own accord instead of sliding across the floor with his shoes.
Once they were far enough away, Zephyr turned to Hexxis and whispered, "Don't like him too much, I'm guessing?" he asked quietly, not wanting to make a scene of it, "Don't worry though, I'm here. We're here." he stated as he squeezed her hand gently.

Hexxis walked with purpose, heading straight down the stairs instead of upstairs as planned. Her grip on his hand was tight, bordering on being a little too tight and her breathing had quickened slightly when he called her name. He knew who she was. She wasn't sure what his goal was, and why he was there. He was... obviously there for her. He had to be. Even more reason she should be careful. She immediately took out her phone and began to text Tri and Mara.
Approached by Kage in Belrad. Unknown reason, though I am his target. Stand by for more information.
She then opened a notepad on the phone and typed something into the phone and let Zephyr look at it before deleting it.
She then looked to Zephyr and took a deep breath and nodded once at him before putting her phone in his pocket and slipping her hand into his again, continuing to walk with him to where they would take the test. She kept an eye out to see if he would follow or not.
Mercenary Group Test: (Results)
Fight another merc group: Both do very well and work in tandem as though they are aware of what the other is doing/thinking. Even though they don't communicate much verbally.
Stealth test: Zeph REALLY good. Hexxis was okay, she is very light and seemed to take it slower but was fairly good at sneaking.
Retrieve item off person: Hexxis half-seduces target and acts as distraction while Zeph steals the item effortlessly.
Retrieve info from person: haha good cop, bad cop. Hexxis threatens to beat their face in while zeph seduces them and convince them to give the info or he would let her beat their face in. Lol
Kill a monster: Zeph distracts as bait. Hexxis fights it bare handed until Zeph almost gets severely injured then she uses her sword to save him, killing it.
Kylar grinned, growing it into a smile at the reaction that Hexxis had. She seemed to be dragging the other man away, perhaps she knew what he had done. He would have left it at that, but now he saw opportunity. There were two spirits on their own now, two souls he could put to good use. He called out as he followed, "I'll wait for you to finish."
Kylar watched them complete the team challenge taking note of their actions. The man didn't seem to be physically powerful, but Hexxis was a monster with physical power. Their coordination seemed odd, small oddities hinting at something more than just experience. Kylar moved to where they would exit awaiting the pair still smiling

As they finished up their trials, Zephyr was walking out of the testing hallway, next to Hexxis, a large grin plastered on his face. Even though he had been hurt during one section, and was haphazardly patched up to make sure he didn't bleed everywhere, he seemed quite pleased with everything. Considering the results, it' was hard not to be pleased by getting a perfect score. "That was FANTASTIC! I knew we were going to work well as a team, but damn, there's just something that just...works." he sounded like a kid in a candy shop, looking much like one too as he looked to Hexxis with a very excited look, not even aware that Kylar was still there when they had exited.
Leaning in towards her, he whispered something to her, grinning a bit.
Hexxis had exited the testing hallway right beside Zephyr, her face expressionless but didn't seem upset either. She stared at Zeph intently as he spoke. He seemed so happy, it was nice. "We have exceeded my previous expectations, I am pleased with the unexpected results.." she spoke calmly, her voice had barely any emotion as she spoke. "We make an exceptional team..." she added as she laced her fingers into his again, holding his hand just as she had before. As he leaned in to whisper to her, a grin began to form on her lips. Her eyes still looked blank but her smile showed plainly her amusement and intrigue for what he had said. "How can I deny that?" she whispered softly. She flickered her gaze to Zeph and she nodded then looked to the clock on the wall. "It's almost time." she announced to him quietly, the grin still on her face as it was beginning to start in with a glint of softness in her eyes now.
She slid her eyes over to catch sight of Kage and her grin immediately faded into a deadpan expression. She squeezed his hand very lightly. She glanced to Zephyr and was silent for a few seconds, before letting go of his hand and moving off to leave alone calmly and without a word.

Kylar watched them after the perfect score, the man seemed ecstatic to have done so well. Hexxis kept her stoic appearance, until he leaned in whispering something that was just barely inaudible from the distance he was. A smile graced her face after the message was exchanged, but as Kylar stepped forward to approach the pair, her smile dropped away. Splitting from her partner, Kylar now had a choice. Follow Hexxis, the one known as Zero who drew him to Belrad or meet with the man named Zephyr Kardos.
Hexxis, he already knew her and she didn't like him. Zephyr seemed the friendlier option. He watched Hexxis leave and approached the man, a smile on his face. With Zephyr not noticing him or at least paying attention, he placed a hand on his shoulder a tiny amount of magic coursing between them as he spoke. "Good job out there, your score is even more impressive given what you both were missing entering the challenge. Do you have time for that talk now?" (Open your Heart) He pat his shoulder twice in congratulations before removing his hand.

Watching Hexxis walk off, Zephyr just stared at her, a small smile on his lips. He both hated and loved watching her walk away from him, just something about the way she walked. Quickly turning his head towards the person who had put a hand on his shoulder, he resisted the urge to shiver at the sudden sensation of magic flowing into him [Mental Resistance], though when he saw who it was, he smiled a bit more. "Why thank you, good sir. It was actually pretty fun trying the team test anyways." He chuckled a bit before turning to face Kylar a bit more, sliding his hands into his own pocket and pulling out a pack of cigarettes.
"So, what do you mean by what we're both missing?" he asked, deciding to play a little dumb.

Hexxis made her way outside of the building, not even looking back as she stepped out onto the sidewalk. Raising a hand to obscure the sun from her visible eye she looked up at the sky and took a deep breath. She then looked down the street, shoving her hands into her jacket pockets as she began to walk away. She kept a sharp eye out for anyone following her, though it didn't seem like she was. That was fine, it would all work out in the end. A faint smile on her lips and she seemed to listen to thoughts in her head.
As she hit the end of the range she could keep a synchronized mind, she paused, closing her eyes for a moment while she gave a short, loving goodbye in her mind, then continued on walking. After she was outside of range, she pulled out a handmade book from her satchel and began to look it over as though reading it as she walked, making way to their predetermined meetup location. Her mind was already running through the recipe in her mind of what she had wanted to make for dinner.So they could finally sit down and have dinner like a god damn family for once. [Indefinite pass from here on out. lol]
Kylar noted the familiar resistance he felt when dealing with most Meta. The strange sensation that prevented his powers from affecting the mind a recurring nuisance. He nodded as Zephyr spoke before responding, "It seems so. You looked to have enjoyed yourself." He watched Zephyr, trying to keep his thoughts off of Hexxis and what had happened in the past assuming Zephyr was the telepath that allowed them to work so well without communication. The question came and Kylar thought for a moment. He wasn't sure exactly how to answer the question, but finally he spoke. "I'm referring to Ashral and the friend you had hovering around you the other day. You're both missing your companions that were with you."
Kylar grinned and motioned towards a table near the back of the room, "Why don't we get a table before we talk further."
