It had been a good nine months. She had rarely bothered to power up at all. Reasons were hard to itemize. She mentally clung to some vague feeling of apprehension. She often debated with herself over the fact she probably should go out and do that thing.... patrolling was it? Still, she found it hard to motivate herself to do it.
Though she had a new name, and while she transformed into someone new. Deep down, she was mostly the same person. She was still inherently selfish. She needed her own reasons to do things. Stuff like... making the world a better place or because it was a duty meant little.
Still, staying in and at home all the time really had a way of getting old and boring. She stayed home quite a bit always wanting to be there just whenever Xander was waking up and heading off to work; or to be there when he returned. However, it was impossible to do much besides wait when the shifts ran for days on end.
This was one such evening. Just after sundown. There were a good several hours before one Dr. Jacobs was due to leave the hospital. As a way to kill time, she finally powered up after months of not having done it. She had to admit these boots were pretty awesome. The cuffs on it were pretty adorable too.
It wasn't like she hadn't powered up at all, but it had only been a few times. Deep down she knew eventually, she needed to go spend some serious time at her wonder. She felt that pull to go visit the great tree. Instead for the time being, she came to the park. There, she strolled leisurely along. She would stop and put a palm up on the bark of a tree.
She meandered there thinking about how much she didn't like fighting. Then, she found a tree near the path cutting through en route to the picnic pavillion. She stopped and leaned against it as she took a good look around.

The brace on Celsus's arm itched - or rather, his wrist itched, and the brace only exacerbated that. But he couldn't do much about it; the physical therapist he was seeing had pointedly reminded him of keeping it on so the healing bones would set properly, in spite of all of his attempts at hastening his recovery.
So he still wore it, if reluctantly, and made his way through the park and its winding paths through the trees, Celsus taking a longer route for his patrol this evening. It was his favorite place to spend time, though he was still getting used to being on his feet again, and everything smelled of fresh air and green grass.
There was a power signature nearby that he could feel, but Celsus wasn't too concerned. The aura felt Order, and he took his time in finding out where the source of it was, meandering casually across a path lined with thick bushes and flowering plants until he saw the young woman ahead, wandering around.
"Good evening," said Celsus pleasantly.

Whenever she felt power signatures from others regardless of which side they were on; it bore a deep seeded feeling of anxiety. She felt her skin goose bump. Her eyes looked around as she went to move from leaning on a lamp to finding a tree to move under. She wondered if it were feasible to get up onto a lower branch in case the situation needed jumping on someone. Really, her bad feels were likely just the manifestation of her distaste for fighting. fighting could lead to scarring and otherwise marring of her pretty face. An event she wanted nothing to do with.
Her eyes followed the path to the voice. Then she looked up. Her eyes taking in this... she figured he was either a knight or a senshi. All that white.
"Good evening to you too sir. Nice night for a stroll huh?"
She looked at the sling on his arm. See!!! That was precisely what she didn't want to happen to her. Yup. That's why she had lately refused to bother with this fighting business.
"Are you a senshi or a knight?"

The uniform was not one that Celsus recognized, and in fact was close enough to both senshi and knight that he wasn't entirely sure which one she was either. But he greeted the young woman with a friendly smile, and said lightly, "I am indeed on a night time stroll; it's very pleasant out right now."
Her question made him laugh, Celsus coming to a stop in front of her.
"My name is Celsus," he said, dipping into a little bow before straightening again. "I'm a Knight of Chronos."
His non-braced arm gestured towards her.
"Who do I have the pleasure of making the acquaintance of?"

Her eyes observing with their usual shrewdness. She wasn't really sure what it was, but more and more these days, she had grown to a point of not quite feeling like she could trust anyone until she had known enough of them to know they could be for sure. His smile seemed genuine enough though.
Her charming smile she once used on cue to conquer the masses of people. Though now it was just a smile and not a tool. Her hand tentatively shook his. At the ask for her name, she started to say her civilian name. After all, she had been practicing a lot to say that instead of calling herself Cherry. That was quite hard to get used to. Sometimes still, she didn't reply when people would call her for forgetting that was her new name.
Oh. My special name.... right.... "Knight of Venus! My actual name is pretty long. We've taken to just referring to me as Cavaddi. It makes it a looootttt easier."
She laughed lightly with a measure of what probably sounded like self defeating; strange as that would seem to those who knew her vain self well. Still, she often kept that part of herself veiled while she was measuring others.
"Have you been doing this a long time?" Despite her indifference to this war, she found herself with growing curiosity about these different knights. What were their wonders like? What was their own personal stake in all of this? At the start, she just presumed everyone was fighting for what they felt was right or wrong. However, she was starting to find everyone's idea of what was right or wrong varied a lot.

"Cavaddi of Venus," said Celsus, and he gave her hand a squeeze before letting go. "I don't believe I've met anyone of Venus for quite some time, come to think of it." Not since Aventine, and that had been so long ago that it was difficult to remember now. "However, it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, I do so love to meet more knights."
It was said with undeniable, genuine happiness; Celsus was, if nothing else, a big supporter of those in his own faction, whether from his own loyalty of Chronos or another planet or place altogether. It didn't matter if they were from Cosmos or Mars or Polaris, all the knights were a delight to meet.
"Oh, yes," said Celsus, with a slightly rueful laugh. "I've been a knight for a little over five years now. It seems a bit strange, when I think about it, but it's been a lifetime for me and then some. At times, I feel I awakened just yesterday, but then there are times when I feel I've lived several decades as Celsus."
He smile at her. "And how long have you been awake?"

Cavaddi gazed at him and scrutinized over how authentic she should be. He seemed like a nice enough person to be openly earnest with. Then, she felt the squeeze of her hand. That seemed gentle and kind to her.
"Yeah. I can't say I have either, but then again, I would also have to make a slight confession. I haven't been powering up and going out for a while. Most of the people I know are the ones who were there when I woke up."
That night still often seemed hazy and a blur. She at times wondered if she should be concerned about her memory being so obscure about that time, but she didn't press herself about it. After all, sometimes the mind blocked things that were too traumatic. Maybe what she'd remember was frightening, and she wouldn't wanna think about it.
"Yeah. I wonder if I should meet more knights." She wanted to continue with her reason for needing new friends for having lost everyone. But... maybe it wasn't wise to tell someone she had to lose everyone? When she woke up; she was told she couldn't go back and see her family anymore. She didn't want things said even in this form to somehow trace back and get her parents' lives in jeopardy.
She thought about how long she'd been awake. "I guess it's been... around nine months. Almost a year. I haven't really mentioned this yet to anyone. Cuz.. I think maybe it sounds crazy but... since that time.. there are days when I feel like.... like i've lived this life for much longer than I've been alive. That's such a weird feeling. I have to admit there are times I avoid powering up just because of that. When I'm in this form, I sometimes feel like there is a mystery about myself I have yet to learn."
She could have added she was a little scared to discover the truths of that mystery; but then her vanity wouldn't have her casting such words to make herself look bad.
"What's Chronos? That's not a planet right?" She never did really know much about astronomy or space. Not much beyond the basic planets of the solar system she was taught in school. Even then, she didn't always pay attention to that subject as she didn't find it much interesting.

"It's all right not to power up sometimes," said Celsus, with a slight smile. "It can be overwhelming and frustrating and dangerous and frightening in a world where there's a war continually going on. Taking time off isn't something to be ashamed of."
He had debated not powering up when he'd been at his lowest, but even then being "Celsus" was all that he had. He didn't have the luxury of walking away from that, of not being Celsus, Knight of Chronos. Before, it had almost been a burden. Now, at least, it was a privilege.
His smile softened a little as he looked at Cavaddi. "I think it would be beneficial to meet as many knights as you can," said Celsus truthfully. "We're your allies and your support should you have need of it. The senshi are as well, the Order aligned senshi."
The Dark Mirrors were another thing altogether, and so were the Corrupted. Celsus had had his fair share of interaction with both, and it was the Corrupted who cared little most of the time. The Dark Mirrors were at least willing to see reason.
"It's not a weird feeling," said Celsus. "We all had a past life or ancestors who were knights before us, perhaps that's the feeling you're getting. And no, Chronos isn't a planet," he added with a laugh. "She's a lady, a princess. She's a lovely individual, the Chronos knights are the ones who support her."
