Shun took a sip from his cup of tea as he held his phone up to his ear with his other hand. Lightly, he paced about the room, "What is this about?"

As his listened to the response, he paused in his steps.

"Really?" he sighed, "Very well... thank you for informing me."

With that, he hung up. He stood there for a moment, internalizing the call, and taking another sip of his tea. Both hands soon clenched, before he hurled his mug into the kitchen wall with a shout. The ceramic shattered upon impact.

The Sergeant gritted his teeth, staring at the new tea-stain on the wall. After a moment, he closed his eyes and drew in a deep breath in an attempt to calm himself down.

Shun had many misfortunes in his life. The first perhaps being the phone call he'd just received, the second being that he'd have to clean up that smashed mug later.

The third and largest being that Chel lived three down doors and recognized the yell of one Shun Kuroda.

She was a solid follower of "stay in your own lane" beliefs, but the smash had her a little worried. She stayed in her Chris' living room for a few minutes longer (it's none of your business) but after a while she couldn't shake the feeling that he might actually be in trouble. Friends helped friends in trouble.

She knocked on his door with a crude baseball bat in her hands (they kept one in the house because they were raised in Tennessee where you protected your locked doors with guns but they were too poor for guns). Except she didn't look very battle ready and actually looked somewhat pale in the face. Chel was brave enough to take the initiative but not brave enough to face on robbers or something worse. What if it was like a ******** assassin come to hunt Shun down?

Chel was already beginning to regret knocking.

Shun's eyes snapped open as he heard the knock at his door. He seriously considered ignoring it. But, he did end up deciding to go ahead and answer.

Opening up the door, he found himself met with Chel (who else would it be? No one else came to his place ever) carrying a baseball bat. His eyes darkened at the sight of her.

"What do you want?" he asked lowly.

Well. Shun looked angry. Moreso than usual, which was saying something.

At least she had a bat to defend herself if need be.

"Heard the crash an' yell. Think everybody did. You okay?" Her hands squeezed the handle a little tighter. He probably didn't need defending if he could answer the door, but it was comforting.

There was no immediate answer as Shun stood there staring at Chel at first. His gaze flicked to her bat again.

"Why do you have a bat?" he asked warily, ignoring her question for the time being. There were things he didn't want to particularly focus on. That and he wanted to make sure that she wasn't about to try and assault him for... whatever reason.

"In case someone was attackin' you." She thought that was rather obvious, and came from a culture where that wasn't a bizarre reaction at all.

"In the offchance someone had been attacking me, what would you do with that bat if they had something like a gun?" he asked flatly. Shaking his head, he just ran his hand through his hair, which hadn't been tied back yet, "No. No one is under attack. You can go back and do whatever the hell it is you do in your apartment."

"I dunno," Chel mumbled to his question. If her werewolf tackling skills were anything to show, Chel didn't think when someone was in danger; she just did.

"There's just been a lot of s**t goin' on lately." She wasn't looking at him so much as she was looking at the brownish-yellow splatter that she now saw on the wall behind him. "It was a really loud yell."

Shun looked down at his phone briefly, which he thankfully did not throw, then brought his other hand up to pinch the bridge of his nose.

"...Family issues. That is all."

Was he underplaying it? Maybe a little bit.

"Tell me about it," Chel said, putting the bat down now and leaning on it like a very short cane. She knew "family problems" very well, even if she didn't know what Shun's were.

"Can I at least help clean it up?"

"I would rather not."

Shun turned around to retreat further into his apartment, but he didn't close the door behind him. He just went to fetch a broom and dustpan so he could sweep up the shards of his broken mug from the floor.

Chel sucked in a breath for a moment and then stepped in behind him, setting her bat down at the door frame. It wasn't a no, and none of the other things on her flowchart were present, so she was taking it as yes.

She wasn't sure where he was going, but she did step around the mess, moving towards the sink and a rag. She wasn't so stupid as to start cleaning up now while the glass was still around, but she could at least get ready to assist.

"Musta been really bad f'you threw something. My dad only threw stuff when his team lost," she said vacantly. "Go Steelers woo."

There was a shrug from Shun as he gathered up the pieces of mug into the dustpan. In a way, he did lose, or so it felt. But he didn't say anything on the matter.

"Towels are the counter. Same place as before," he mumbled as he straightened up, then moved on to toss the broken ceramic into the garbage. After that, he went to fetch some sort of cleaning spray for the actual tea that had gotten on the wall and floor.

Chel nodded and began wiping some of the wall. At least he hadn't dented any of the wall in any way- that would've been a b***h to explain to the landlord.

"What usually makes y'feel better?" she asked abruptly.

"Various s**t," Shun mumbled as he took some paper towels and moved on towards the stains. He dabbed up the excess liquid, then sprayed the areas.

"I am not the most cheerful man around in general, if you have not noticed."
