To clarify one thing first: Alexis Tucker did not, and would never, go looking for help. Any help they so happened to stumble upon was...incidental. It just happened, then, that when they saw Autumn Smith at the grocery store they weren't exactly going to say no to providence dropping a deer-whisperer into their lap. (Or a whatever-whisperer. The Peaceful One wasn't exactly a deer, was their point.) And if her face looked a little different...she did makeup, didn't she? Maybe it was a new trend -- well. Maybe Alexis was stalling, because they really didn't want to have this conversation at any point in the near future or at all when they were the initiator and hadn't already been talking beforehand -- but Spektor actually had a damn job, Vaughn...god knew where he lived, and everyone else...they barely knew their names or faces. It'd be -- weird, was what Alexis was getting at. But when Autumn exited the store with her bag of groceries, Alexis was leaned against the wall, calling out a "Hey, Smith! ...Can we talk?" with approximately no shame visible or audible. They raised one skinny hand and beckoned her over, glancing side-to-side.

To Autumn's credit, when she was addressed by the stranger at the store, Autumn startled only slightly. She whirled around to face them, and... shoot. Definitely a face she remembered (how could she forget Pax, and everything that'd started this?) Names were just... not her thing. She worried her lower lip slightly, trying to will the name back into her consciousness. It was there, somewhere. It was just an issue of finding i-
"Alexis! That's right," she said more to herself than the other, offering the relative stranger a smile. Not minding the interruption, Autumn walked over, setting her bags on the ground. Toned arms didn't mean she wanted to haul around meat unnecessarily, thank you very much.
"What can I do for you? Gotta admit, I wasn't expecting to see you again after. All that."Daekie WHOOPS I TOOK A NAP SORRY

When Autumn came over, Alexis breathed a barely-audible sigh of relief, chewing their lower lip in worry. "I'd say sorry for botherin' you, but I'm really not, so let's skip past the pleasantry. You're here, 's good enough." They stretched, huffing out a short puff of air as they twisted to the side, shoulders pulling at the skin in a way that almost looked painful. "Also, if you're worried 'bout it, 'm not gonna stab you. I'm not stupid." (That corresponded with a look that, essentially, said 'do you really want to tell me otherwise because I will ignore it and also you'.)
"That -- other place. Other Ashdown, or whatever. What do you know about it? Besides that first time, with Winters, and then the time with you...I haven't gotten pulled in there until yesterday. And it's goin' to keep happenin', if I'm not wrong, so I need you to tell me the deal about it." They cocked their head to the side like an owl, bangs still keeping one eye almost hidden from sight.

Well. No ands, ifs or buts about this. Autumn barked a laugh, shaking her head and folding her arms. It was kind of nice, not having to d**k around the issue. Just jumping into the meat of everything. Seemed very Alexis, from what Autumn knew about them. (Them, she reminded herself. Definitely them. Gender had been a thing they'd reacted to, that time, and not in a good way. Autumn was forgetful, but not a willing a*****e.)
"Considering I'd whoop your a** if you were nutsy enough to try it, I didn't suspect you would," she laughed, again mostly to herself. She took a moment to think about what she knew.
"It's magical. Not in the literary sense of awe-inspiring. As in, it's chalk full of magic. Other Ashdown is a parallel to our own world, but anything goes there. It's always raining, and it's always dreary. Nothing there is evil... but it's not necessarily your friend, either."
A frown crossed Autumn's features.
"It turned people into werewolves. Were-whatevers, they're not just wolves. And some of them are wargs. It's... all the magic from there is bleeding over here. And there's... we'll call him a gardener. Someone nasty as s**t that wants us all to follow his rules or die. Whichever is easier for him, in the end. No joke it's Voldemort- we don't use his name."
Hum. What else, what else...? Hopefully, Alexis would have more questions to elaborate on. As it stood, Autumn's Yar A Wizard Harry speech was getting much, much shorter.

"The rain's not exactly the hardest thing to pick up about the place," Alexis muttered sardonically with a roll of their eyes, but kept listening attentively, with no discernable surprise on their face. When Autumn ended her lovely little introductory speech, they took a moment to think, eyes locked on her.
"I heard somethin' bout the werewolves, actually. Kid I know was at the job faire. Says he wasn't actually there, but Carver's practically a compulsive liar when it comes to his own importance, so I'm calling bullshit. ...he says someone just -- turned. Ripped a nurse's throat out by accident. That true?" Carver said a lot of things, to be fair. Most of them had some basis in truth. She'd quickly learned that Alexis didn't take too well to the bullshittery -- and they got on, in some odd way, where both of them were terrible to the other.
"Three questions, first. Number one: how do you get out and in, and is there a way to control it? Number two: what can you actually do over there? I'm assumin' the whole faerie-stealing-your-body is nontypical. And number three: people were talkin' about...powers. Apparently I should have one? But I haven't noticed anything at all."

"Yeah, it really happened. It's... it wasn't as easy to get over as the first time," Autumn said, her expression more serious and haunted. She'd been lucky enough to find magical healing powers. Everyone else... not so much. The image of Zac in the hospital, Thorne in the hospital, still clung to her mind. There was only so much healing she could manage.
"Answer one. If you don't have a way to see it, or something that can guide you, you're sort of s**t outta luck. My cat can find entrances, and I know Detective Mercer sees entrances now... Otherwise, you just kinda get lucky and happen there. I've noticed, though, that when you want or need to go, you sort of find entrances. Couldn't tell you how or why, but it's a thing." She shrugged again. It wasn't anything she fully understood... For all of her exposure, so much of it was still beyond her.
"I'll give you my number, if you ever need to go. I can drop you off at an entrance," Autumn offered, pulling out her phone and handing it to Alexis. "Just put yours in, and then I'll text you."
"Two. You can do magic. It's all about will. You will a fireball? You get a fireball. It's magical s**t, like Harry Potter. But it wears you out if you do too much too soon. It's like working out. You have to build up to it." She still wasn't... fantastic at the whole will thing. "And no, being kidnapped isn't typical. I just have s**t luck."
Autumn laughed, humorless. The house was still a very sore subject.
"Three. Powers. They're little things, sometimes bigger things, that make your life easier on this side. Sometimes you notice them, sometimes you don't. They're things that are... weird. Too convenient, too easy. Then, the more aware you are, the more you do, the bigger they get. And it changes you, too." She gestured to the freckles now on her face, and pulled back her hair to reveal the stubbish deer horns that were growing in.
"So. The magic... changes you, as much as you change it. Crazy s**t."

Alexis' face was somber when Autumn confirmed that it was all true. "You know how it's spread? I think that a*****e might have gotten clawed, but she sure as hell won't tell me. ******** medical students." And then: "I don't actually have a phone," Alexis winced. "'s too pricy to get full service when I don't have solid income. I'm too busy doing things like -" they grunted in irritation - "paying rent, and not starving. I can give you my email, though, I guess?"
At Autumn unveiling her horns -- Alexis had a hand halfway there before realizing, oh, right, that's kind of rude, don't touch other people and dropping it to their side. "I just feel like -- Iuno. Like something kind of wants me to be there? But it doesn't feel like something I want, and that pisses me off. And Spektor said something about him seeing things, in that house, but I still don't know what my ********' power is and that also kinda pisses me off."Moonstone Dazzle how tall is autumn again...

"You don't have to worry about claw-marks. That's not how it spreads," She offered, lips in a tight line that was not quite happy with this information. "Think like, classic vampires. You gotta be bitten. So... it didn't spread too bad, as far as I'm aware?"
"Email works. Go ahead and put it in there, and email me. My phone gets my email, so it's basically like texting."
When Alexis reached to touch her horns, Autumn initially flinched- but no, they weren't going for the hair. Just the horns. That was gonna be a social adjustment. Instead, she nodded, and murmured 'go ahead.' It wasn't a hair thing. No need to flip s**t.
"If you feel that way, something probably does want you there. Apparently, we've done this before. In another lifetime, if you buy into that kind of thing. Failed every time. So... there probably is a force pulling us into it, honestly."

"Carver's stupid," Ashton snorted, "she makes decisions almost as bad as I do, and I make the worst ********' decisions known to man. Except she has parents that she listens to that she lives with, like an idiot." They pulled Autumn's phone, pulling up her email after only a few seconds of fumbling and typing in axstkr@gmail.com for a contact, and then handed it back. "There. 's my email." When Autumn gave permission, Alexis hesitated, reaching out a gentle hand to touch the horns with light fingers. "...can you feel this? It's -- really cool. I've never seen someone with horns before." It was surprisingly soft, their touch and their voice, softer than they'd been before. Gentle curiosity. "Uh. I mean. If y'don't mind -- you doing anything later today? I'd like to keep this all kinda contained. The longer I let things go, the worse they get."

"That's why I got the ******** away from mine," Autumn agreed, lips pursed as she thought about her own parents. But it wasn't the time or place.
"If it makes you feel any better," she laughed, "I've never met anyone with horns either. Except Pax, but since they're an Otherbeing, I'm not really sure they count. But. Yeah. I can actually feel it? Which is crazy," Autumn kind of half-laughed, mentally noting that this was something that would have to be looked into. Preferably with Deacon.
"I need to drop my groceries off at my place, so I don't poison myself with eggs," something that seemed more likely in the face of the weird s**t that'd happened lately, "but if you wanna follow along, I can help out after? With whatever you need about Other Ashdown."

"The deer thing, right? They're a deer, of course they have horns." Alexis was, clearly, still very bitter at Pax for freezing them to the waist, from the way their fingers clenched -- still on Autumn's horns, so not hard, but -- more pressure than might have been comfortable.
...they seemed to realize what they were doing, then, and put their hands back in their own pockets.
"...far as I know about deer, which isn't all that much, they'll be sensitive until they stop growin'. Good luck with hiding them if they get proper-sized. But -- sure. I'll follow along." They looked inquisitively at Autumn's groceries, eyes flicking back up to her. "You live far?" "Will they really?! s**t. I have an awful feeling like, everyone in my life is gonna suck about this." Autumn laughed softly, shaking her head. She hadn't exactly been the most forgiving of Lucas's stupid ears... only his seemed to have gone away. And her horns weren't. If they DID get to be full size...
"Yeah, not far at all. Considering I walk everywhere, I tried to live as centrally as I could." Autumn picked up her bags, and turned to Alexis with a smile as she headed out.
"Let's go, then."Daekie START US UP AND QUOTE ME sorry, I have to sleep early Sunday-Wednesday for therapy, lmao...
